Battlefield 3: Fault Line Episode 2

Treyarch? Fucking Treyarch? Talking about using IW's CoD2 engine? :lol
The Quake 3 engine is the best engine ever made! period.

(though it's really time to move on now)
A battlefield 3 campaign with that kind of sensibility wouldn't be strange for DICE and would be far more interesting than all the handholding ultra-scripted stuff out there.
Ok I can understand this, but I still feel like people are dooming the campaign too early. The footage so far gave a great feeling of immersion and except for the slow-mo at the end of this episode I saw nothing too CoD like.

What sound? It is covert in a funky turning-into-slowmo sound effect. I hope you do not think thats the sound of the launcher.
So it makes no sound, whatsoever? I'm listening on my laptop right now so all I heard was a thump and then it went into slow-mo. The slow-mo crap sucks, and this trailer was just terrible all together. The first one was awesome, what the hell =\ The sniper was shitty, guys are sitting in front of a wide open hole from a sniper shot, presumably, etc. etc., that analysis explains it all really. Oh and that awful effect that happens everytime a bullet is shot, even if it's not near the player. I didn't have a problem with it at first, but by the end of the trailer it was annoying as it happened every single time the sniper shot, no matter where the bullet was.

At least this makes the wait easier for the next one, because I hardly give a shit now. Hoping the next one blows me away again, we'll see...

No sign of the original uncompressed footage in 1080p so far?

Even the gamersyde one shows bad compression artifacts.

But it looks good; I can't wait to see proper multiplayer gameplay.

I hope ID (And Carmack) gets some $$$ for each CoD sold.

Seeing as that even MW2 had credit to it on the clips before the menu, they probably do. The editor they use is a heavily modified Radiant last I heard.

Awesome, Carmack's really deserve it.
Quake III Engine is probably one of the most awesome piece of software ever written.

Am I alone when I say I won't even load up the single player campaign? BF is all about multiplayer and for me always will be.

As soon as I would start it up and down a few bad guys I will start to think I could have used this time to be competing online and lvling my classes.

OK guys, I'm going to ask this here so please go easy on me. I'm actually considering entering PC gaming at last and may pick up a new rig for this. I have ZERO experience and I'm wondering if any tech wizards out there would help me with a recommendation from this list from a local retailer where I live:

Sincere thanks in advance!

Wait until min specs are out. No need to rush in yet.

After watching the uncompressed video one thing I noticed that bothered me is although the debris and particles look awesome, they never ever hit the ground. Everything disappears before it hits the ground.

Hopefully this will be tweaked to particles hit the ground, then disappear after a couple seconds.

i can't believe you guys are complaining about this footage. i loved it, all of it :)

I loved it too, of course the first one created more impact than this one but I loved the animation and the lightning on this one too. Can't wait for this game. When will the release date be announced?

Don't worry they already have a soldiers-jumping-off-a-mountain-cliff sequence that was reminiscent of Black Ops. Battlefield 3 will have a Call of Duty singleplayer.

Man, being a botanist in Battlefield 3 land must suck. It seems like there isn't a minute gone by where a flower pot isn't blown up.

felt like the GRAW 1 360 rooftops like 6 years ago...

only in first-person with destruction...

damn it's been that fucking long....

Lol at levelling a massive building to take out one sniper.

You realize a single sniper can take out as many people as:

-he/she has ammo for

-the amount of time they aren't seen.

A few rockets or a tank blast to save a good number of potential military lives(four or more as seen in this video) = Good idea.

DICE parodied moments (and an entire level) of COD4/MW2 in the SP of Bad Company 2. They might be doing that again.

It made me laugh every time they did, so I'm not opposed to it.

I don't understand gaf sometimes. People were salivating over that (imho) bland Brink trailer the other day, and slagging this one? Are people just that into multiplayer?

MP is what Battlefield was designed for.

It's just another military-themed shooter, marines abroad and whatnot. Brink is something else.

One of these days we're really going to have to have conversation about what compressed really means on GAF. Uncompressed 1080p is 350 MB/sec.

I hope they show some multiplayer footage soon cause these single player footage do nothing for me I just hope the graphics are just as good for multi.

A lossless 1080p .bmp taken with Fraps is 5.93 mb. At 30 fps (which is the fps of this trailer) that still comes out to less than 200 mb a second. Are you just pulling numbers out of your ass?

Whoa with the hostility. Fine, 1080p30 is 177 MB/sec (60p is 355). Still, people act like 5 Mbps H.264 is "compressed" while 10 Mbps H.264 is "uncompressed" when they are both compressed.

Yeah for sure, but if it has a sweet campaign as well I won't complain. On the other hand, I'm only interested in Brink for it's SP - that MP trailer looked beyond generic.

Definitely wasn't as impressed with this one as I was the first, but it was still awesome. Seriously haven't been this hyped for a FPS in a long time.
