Battlefield 3 or Battlefield 4?

BF3 is clearly the better game in my opinion. I like the Map design way more and it feels less cluttered and has better gun fight. They put so much stuff in bf4 that didn't add anything valuable to the gameplay but rather detracted from it.
I thought I would start having more fun after everything got fixed but now I just notice the lame maps even more.

I have very little experience with earlier titles like bf2 and bf1942 since I didn't have a capable PC back than. But I had a lot of fun with BFBC2. The Rush maps were glorious. Rush in bf3 and bf4 is a joke compared to that.
 
I never bought BF4 and only tried it during the free week, after the free week i was very glad in my decision to not buy it - i am more than happy to stick with BF3, and find it to be the better game as it just feels better to me.
 
Rush was great in bad company but conquest is where it's at and conquest SUCKED in bc2. I almost forgot how much fun it is until I bought bf 4 and was reminded. Also, so much has changed from battlefield 3 that my jaw is hanging on the floor reading these comments that it didn't improve or change anything from 3. I could never, ever go back to 3 now.
 
Seeing on how I have them both for PC and still have a damn audio bug in BF4 where my sound dies for no reason for about 10-15 seconds every minute or two I will go with BF3
 
I'll take Battlefield 4 over 3, but neither of them even come close to the greatness that is Bad Company 2. I still cannot understand how DICE followed that game up with those two.

Imo if you want to play battlefield just play bf2 or bf1942.
Proper conquest maps with proper capture point placement, mod support, no lame ass grind to unlock weapons/flares , lots more cool vehicles, way way way way (way way way way) better vehicle physics if you play bf1942:DC
bc2 and bf3 aren't battlefield, they're some bastardised 'modernised' watered down shootbangs that are missing much of what made battlefield unique and good.
A battlefield game without proper conquest gameplay isn't battlefield.

Conquest is a bad mode anyway.
Yes. I said it. Conquest (at least maps these days) is boring to the extreme. I would have hoped they focused on Rush in new Battlefields. 1943 was the only time I had fun with Conquest.

And BC2 is glorious. I played it recently. It's so simple that everyone can play rock paper scissors with each others classes. New Battlefields are Gadget obsessed and too many options means none are especially effective.

Agreed. Rush is the best game mode, and the maps in BC2 were amazing to play Rush on.
 
It would have been nice if they just ported over all of the maps from BF3 into 4. There are some glaring omissions from 3 that never made it into 4 that I loved. Just give me the damn close quarters maps.
 
3 was and still is a better game. Maps, weapons and just about everything else.

However, 3 is a shadow of BC2. Genuine classes, people playing actual roles, maps that are still memorable to this day and truly fun and functional gun play.

BF4 maps are like a doughnut. Everyone just runs the perimeter of the map until eventually you gets sucked into the middle. From there it turns into a frag-fest.
 
I barely played any of 3, but goddamn, I miss the blue tint and hud, especially the "digital noise" way the points feed displayed. I can't stand BF4's sickly orange even though I love the gameplay.
 
I always wonder when people post a battlefield preference, if they're console or PC. I play pic so I always just assume people are PC for battlefield.

I feel exactly the opposite. [Gold] Rush is a poor, forgettable gamemode compared to the likes of Conquest (especially of the BF2/2142 quality) and Titan and shouldn't have appeared outside of Bad Company.
 
BC2 was amazing! Just lacked in areas like optimization and overall game content, guns vehicles, ect.

BF4 is way better than BF3 in my opinion, and thats simply due to better gun mechanics, I don't know why, but they just feel better.

I personally just want BF5 to just have maps like in BC2, where blowing up walls and collapsing building was great fun.
 
I hate people that come into threads and answer an either-or questions with "Option C!", but in this case it's absolutely necessary to reiterate what other people have said and recommend BC2 over either of them.
 
It being between BF3 and BF4... I would say BF4 has a lot of things that do top BF3 but between the hit detection and netcode and all the useless add ons (all the grenade launchers and the airburst) BF3 tops BF4.

Hopefully with the big CTE patch coming sometime this month to fix a lot of things, BF4 will finally be the game it should have been and will be better than BF3
 
BC2 > BF3 > BF4

BF4 just became too complicated. So many attachments and different vehicle upgrades. Options are usually good, but it just became too much for me. Rush is also pretty bad in BF4 too. It seems like 9/10 Rush matches are completely one sided for me.
 
Battlefield 4 is better than Battlefield 3 IMO. The maps are arguable but the gunplay and movement feel so much more solid and refined, snipers are far more satisfying and the likes. BC2 would be the best of them all, mainly because of maps and destruction, but the features that it lacks due to age (simple stuff like more fluid movement and strafing during sprinting) put it ever so slightly behind.
 
BC2 was the best, but BF4 is better than BF3 imo. Also, you can still play BC2 on PC. Still hundreds of people playing.
 
A further question would be: which is better when comparing only the base game? What if someone just picked up BF4 and none of the add-ons / DLC?

It honestly dosen't matter. They both are very solid games. A step down in some of the ambition from 2 and clearly influenced by the modern FPS landscape. Still, they are very fun games.

I think the base maps in 3 kind of suck. The DLC is far better. Kind of the reverse honestly with BF4.

Get whatever one Both are good.
 
I'm a BF vet; owned all games except the Modern Combat console-only games. Have thousands of hours spent in the games.
Ignoring the single player campaigns (and some of the games), the ranking for me is:

Battlefield 4 > Battlefield 3 >>>>> BC2 > BF 1942 >>>> BC1

Every game is a consistent improvement over the latter. The water combat, the verticality and the much improved tightness of both the gameplay and the UI puts it over BF3. BC2 is just miles behind, and is a worse game in every aspect.
 
BF3 was terrible. From the map layouts to the completely awful suppression mechanic. BF4 made most of those issues better, not perfect, but better.

So yeah, BF4 is definitely the preferred version.
 
Lol people saying BC2 (Which is not even a mainline Battlefield, although it's a good game it is also a consolized BF). Get real! Battlefield 2 is where it's at!
 
If it's just a choice between BF3 and BF4, I'm going with BF4. I didn't play much BF3 (less than 25 hours) and have played over 100 ours of bf4 so that might be why I picked BF4 but I really do like BF4 a lot.

The weapons seem pretty much the same, the single player for both are forgettable the maps (including DLC for both) seem more balanced in BF3. However I prefer the presentation/look of BF4, features like levolution are cool (when they work), the commander can be useful and I just like unlocking stuff and getting Battlepacks in BF4.

The big thing with BF4 is that it is great when it works and is some of the best multiplayer fun I have had when playing with friends on the PS4 and Xbox One. A lot of the early issues I had with the game randomly crashing have gone (I hope they stay that way) but there some big problems when playing online like frame rate dropping to a crawl and you feel like your character is running through treacle.
