Reading through the last 20 pages of this thread has made me extremely confused about this VIP stuff.

I have the 360 version, so what should be unlocked if the VIP code was correctly entered?

Two maps, Nelson Bay and another one, THAT IS ALL!!!!

Don't listen to anything else anyone tells you,

The maps are already on the disc and do not need to be downloaded.

I think you can invert the mousewheel straight from the in-game options. Look on the top left of the options screen.

Thanks. I didn't think about that. To be fair I don't believe the menu describes what checking that box does, but I will try it out. Would be nice if it worked :D

That isn't 100% of what I want but it's about 90% of it.

Had a fun game or two last night. Was on the losing team when I jumped onto the GAF server, but then in the next match our squad filled up (including someone, Cetrah? Cerah?) with a GAF tag who was playing really well. Having a fully loaded squad really working together really gave me the chance to pick up some solid kills on enemies who were occupied with my squadmates. Also, since the two other guys in our squad were medics (my usual) I used the chance to branch out a bit and play some engie and assault. Those SMGs can actually hit pretty hard, but I had to get used to more reloads going from a 100-200 round mag to a 20-30 round mag.

On the downside I did let Crooked Rain shoot me like 4 times in the face with a SPAS shotgun. I kept thinking I was beyond the optimal range, but those slugs can still really nail you from a distance.

This game is boring. Where the hell are the aircraft vs aircraft battles? Where the hell are the tank vs tank battles? Even worse, where the hell are the tanks or aircraft? 75% of the time there's none to be found.

How come I'm funneled so darn much? Hey hey now, there's no flanking here! You get back in the fight, soldier! Where the hell is the battlefield in this battlefield game? This game plays like a predecessor to bf1942. Every map feels like the normandy map from 1942, but without everything that made that map awesome. Replace the ship, replace the tanks, replace the machine guns and cannons with snipers and you got yourself bc2.

The infantry vs infantry combat is fine. Nothing special. For a game that is suppose to attract people that dislike cod, the gunplay sure plays a hell of a lot like cod. No sway on anything and extremely high accuracy + 2 or 3 bullets for a kill = Twitchy, point and shoot cod style gunplay.

The whole ticket thing doesn't help the un-excitement of it all. Have yet to play a game that actually got intense at the end. Having 10 tickets left means nothing to me. It isn't like having 1 minute left...I can fathom and prepare and thus get excited for that. It doesn't help that you can kinda tell who's gonna win the game within the first 30 seconds...and the remaining 20 minutes is the attackers planting the bomb over and over and over again or the remaining 20 minutes is the tickets very slowly going down.

Why do I have to plant the bomb 8 times? What is the point of that? This game and the map layouts are not dynamic enough to support doing the same thing 4 times to win/lose. 2 times like in tf2? Absolutely. Give the defenders a second chance. 4 chances is just dumb and numbing. Again, imagine the normandy map from 1942...now imagine that map only being a fourth of the battle. Good god, why?

One last thing, cause this rant is lasting longer than I would like, but why exactly can people opt out of a squad when you join a server? Playing this game without a squad makes it unbearable. Can't hear my teammates. Can't respawn with anyone. The game should put you in a squad immediately and should consolidate the squads when they fall down to 2 people. If the game you make requires teamwork, then don't give people an option out of the teamwork, and thus the game. Might as well ask if you want to join a team or not.

Is everyone's mics broke? I wish people would talk. I've been playing nothing but Rush mode. Seems every squad I'm on no one calls out objectives. Even a simple call of "We are going to take A on the left". Being a medic I'm having a hard time managing my squad with everyone spread out. I'm not bitching as I've had some good squads and it seems they are the ones that stick together.

Rush mode Attackers - stop running headlong to the crate. First setup position, wait for the group, spot enemies, suppress and flank. If you don't medics can't bring you back if your in the open and we have no support. I'll just keep my position and wait for you to re-spawn.

I love defending with 2 dudes at crate A and 10 dudes at B, and then A gets taken and B gets flanked...fun stuff.

I don't know what it was about last night but every game I got in there were at least 4-5 people on the opposite using nothing but tubes and the enhanced explosive spec. It was getting really annoying and the polar opposite of the fun just the night before. This was with about 4-5 server changes (PC version).

That would be nice if they would limit the enhanced explosion spec to only engineers and it should only affect vehicles.

*Cue ten people telling me its fine the way it is etc.*

Really, I've only come across constant noob tubers in about 2 or 3 games, and even then they still got destroyed.

90% of the time, you're better off just firing the assault rifles normally. I find myself only using the grenade launcher when taking on vehicles, killing a soldier that's camping a window or I see a group of enemies all huddled together.

How is the revolver in the game? I'm a sucker for them as a side arm.

Basicly the way you'd think a grenade launcher would be used.

I agree with only one thing out of all that (to be honest I didn't know what you're talking about with the last half) the funneling is pretty lame, seems really closed in on certain parts.

Good, balanced. Powerful but with a long reload.

This post is exactly why I ignore bitching about BC2.

One person complains it takes too few shots to kill, that it's too much like CoD, that it's a twitch shooter. Another complains that its sluggish, takes too many shots to kill, the guns suck, CoD is better.

One person complains that there is nothing dynamic about the game, all the battles are the same, rush is horrible. Someone else says the best thing about BC2 is that no two games are alike.

Someone hates Isla Innocentes, someone loves it. Someone hates Nelson Bay, someone else loves it.

And then you have drama queens like this:

From playing a lot of Bad Company 1, I guess I had my expectations in check. Completely understandable why you feel this way, I would have similar feelings if I came straight from BF2 or something.

It's a different game, the focus has shifted from armored with a little infantry to infantry with a little armored.

Its fine the way it is. There are plenty of weapons and perks that make you a killing machine. Using the grenade launcher with the explosion perk is just one example.

I think it includes partial kills in that stat. Like hitting someone and someone else finishing him off.

Nah, thats the amount of kills you've gotten on the server where as the top panel is your KD that round.

It's a killer, but it's a slow shooter. Still awesome :D.

For PS3 users (and others I guess) how the others maps compare to Arica Harbor and Port Valdez ?

I'm dying to get my hands on the game next week, and I really want to know if the other mp maps are anything as good as the ones from the Beta and the Demo.

Any spectacular location ? Tones ? Setting ? Piece of maps engaging intense battle ?

We played a couple games last night together (gg) - and yeah, I've been going no mic for the past several days. Just coughing a ton and my mic doesn't mute easily so I just said F it to it. That's one reason I have shied away from grouping with GAFfers aggressively. Yesterday I just got sick of playing with randoms (recon, recon, recon, and no concern for objectives) so I joined ya. :)

I honestly think a mic is not that necessary in this game. It helps, yes. But DICE did a good job of setting it up so you don't need one. Besides, even mic'd up I am very quiet (only calling out for worthwhile stuff).

I'm confused because as I recall you only get a few nades when you spawn and that's it. so how was 8-10 grenades a big deal?

So do the points that you make after you're killed add up on the scoreboard too? When I was down a tank drove over my AT mine, got 240 points, but they didn't add up on the scoreboard.

If they sit on their own ammo supply boxes, they have virtually, unlimited grenades...

This is exactly why I'm loving BC2. The maps I hated most where the big open maps in BF, BF:V and BF2. I hated maps where I had to use a vehicle to get somewhere on the map. BF:BC2 has the perfect mix for what I like. I have never been big on using vehicles though. I like the dynamic they add but I'd rather let someone else use them so I can take them out with my rockets.

I have a few really basic questions for my engineer class.

How do I get my rocket launcher to "lock on?" I have the last one you can unlock, but I never seem to lock on to helicopters.

What is with the "Waa waa" at the end of rounds? What is the ticket thing everyone is talking about? I never see any info about tickets in the hud.

How do I use a parachute? I see some people hoping off of ledges etc and parachutes deploying. Also parachuting from helicopters.

Thanks

The same can be said about OMA/Danger Close on MW2. I suppose that is balanced as well?

Don't get me wrong I'm loving this game, but there are some really frustrating tactics that are popping up now that people are unlocking all of the stuff. I thought leaving MW2 would get me away from the bullshit but it's starting to pop up in this game more frequently.

doesn't lock on, you can only guide it. Not sure what you mean with the ticket question and press/hold the jump button in the air to use the chute, sometimes you need to double tap it and hold the button.

I've never noticed an ammo supply box give me grenades for the launcher is it a spec?

It just takes a little longer.

This could be rectified somewhat if they had a separate support class that dropped ammo like BF2, or if the ammo boxes depleted faster and had a longer recharge time.

And trust me, if you haven't yet encountered the platinum-star tubers who run around with their tube cocked ready to fire at the first thing that moves just give it a few more days.

I never played MW2 so I have no idea what you're referring to.

Weapon and perks can be combined to be more effective in certain situations. Why is that a bad thing? Those type of tactics are to be expected. Each setup has its own advantages/disadvantages.

I don't see how the tactics in question are any more frustrating then magnum snipers with 12x scope, or squads of m60 medics or the an-94 with 4x scope and increased accuracy, etc, etc.

I imagine I am the one that pissed you off for not having a mic when I played with you yesterday. My gamertag is UR BUS IS SHORT if you remember me.

I actually posted a message a few pages back apologizing to Gaffers who joined me, because I had no mic. Well actually I did have a mic, but it broke yesterday. I live in the sticks here in Missouri so simply running to the store is not a luxury I have. I will be getting one today I think.

Again, I am sorry because I know how frustrating it is to play with micless teammates.

Ah ok, thanks. So just guidance with that particular RL. Can't believe I missed the chute button control.

With the first two launchers you have to shoot it with a tracker dart thing first, then when you're aiming to shoot you keep your crosshairs on the red box until it stops flashing and becomes solid. Then launch.

With the third launcher you just guide that sucker in.

edit: And I learned parachuting the hard way. I jumped out of the helicopter and pressed a shitload of buttons until I realized that jumping again worked.

Yup. Shoot the vehicle with a tracer to add more damage to your explosives but with the arc and movement it can be difficult to tag a chopper. Well, for me it is. I think I understand your ticket question now also, if you look above your mini map you will see blue and red text, blue is your team and red is the opposition below that is numbers which are the tickets remaining.

Let me know if that wasn't it.

I find this notion terribly overstated.

Mic-chat in online FPS games: 10% tactics & teamwork, 35% complaining, 55% chit-chatting.

Meh. I could take it or leave it.

I'm Sorry but grenade launchers are not a problem in this game. Unlike Modern warfare 2 you have to actually aim in order to achieve a kill, because the splash zone is so incredibly small. Like someone else pointed out, the badcompany 2 grenade launcher doesn't deserve the noobtube classification, as it requires just as much skill to use as an m60, m16, AN94, MBTs etc (even with the unlimited rounds supplied by the ammobox). The m16's standard attack is just as every bit as deadly and doesn't have that long reload period between each shot. If anyone believes dying from a noobtube is a problem here, I urge you to take a look at the dozens of other "legit" weapons that are just as effective.

Oh and if you are being repeatedly killed by a noobtube spammer, chances are the guy is a very capable player and the circumstances would be no different if he was instead, using another weapon...

I was looking at the handouts given to me when I bought BC2 and one mentions having access to Squad Rush mode 30 days before everyone else. What's that all about? Currently there is a squad deathmatch but no sign of a Squad Rush.

DICE created a phenomenal game but all these preorder deals and other exclusive incentives has turned BC2's release week into one gigantic clusterfuck.

At least on my case this is true.
I only use mics if i play with others gaffers who also use them. And i apologize for my English every 2 minutes.

DICE should just have a Vanilla BC2 mode where there are no specializations. Might make a lot of babies in here happy.

For the record, I have never been utterly dominated by a user who has a particular spec or gun. Teknopathetic doesn't count, of course.

I play with up to 8 peeps at a time, and we usually will get everyone into the same server and eventually team. We remain in party chat. I would imagine many others are doing this as well.
