It’s a big part now in the story, Miura must concentrate on it now. It’s building up nicely but he have to stop ditching the manga!
I just don't care. I feel like any time Miura doesn't know what to do with the story on Guts' side it immediately cuts to these long arcs about what Griffith is doing and I JUST DON'T CARE. Especially after the fucking cutaway right after Casca gets her memory back.

I don’t believe that. Griffith is a big part of the story too so I don’t understand why people actually think that. It might be true in one way or another but showing Griffith and everything currently happening is important too

I picked it all up on Comixology when they were running a big sale a while back, but those deluxe hardcovers look sick. Pretty good value too.

The band of the hawks and lonely swordsman arcs were hands down masterpieces. By the time they reach Tower of convinction, manga still maintains a good pace. So I'd say first half, first 17 volumes, is much better than the rest.
Kushan Empire arc did not live up to the first half and by the time they reach the pirates and so many new members join the crew, it becomes something different at a slower pace.

Something understandable as no manga can maintain the same pace for so long.

I also found it sad that new series skipped one of the best manga moments, the Rosinne arc and the encounter with that monkey Apostle who slaughtered a girl who tried to hide guts.

Its absolutely awesome. Where did you buy the figurine?

It comes in pieces so you have to assemble it. Had to do quite a bit of filing around some areas too.
It wasn't the easiest/ best model to assemble.

man i hope this thing ever progresses at a decent pace again, one of my favourite works of art in general.

i remember a thread on another forum during the very very dark ages that complained about guts being on the boat for so long and that hopefully he'll get off the damn thing sometime soon.

the thread was originally posted at the start of 2009, just over a year after guts got on the boat. he was on the boat for another seven fucking years after that. how little we knew then, blind and hopeful. lol.

Thankfully we have another boatfilled adventure for years to come, to fill this hole berserk left behind. Hunter x Hunter baby. How long that boat ride will take? Who knows. xD

Can someone tell me why the latest anime is so frowned upon without the typical “just read the manga” reply? Is it the animation, story not faithfully told?
I haven’t watched it yet but have been tempted too.

Because it’s a disgrace and the CG was not even decent. It was garbage so of course the fans of Berserk will despise how they treated one of the most beloved things to them

Ok get that, but was it faithful to the source material or is it for the bad CG? Not sure if it even starts from the beginning where the manga starts.
I get why they hate it but looking at it from a different perspective is it that much of a abomination?

Yes it was but the bad CG ruined great moments we grew up with in the manga. You wouldn’t understand until you watch it yourself. I mean I did for the sake that it’s Berserk but go give it a go and you’ll definitely understand the hate

Yeah, the animation is really bad.

At least the few episodes that I saw of it. To the point where I and many other people would rather newcomers watch the 1997 anime which uses stills from the manga in a lot of the action scenes.

Not sure if it even starts from the beginning where the manga starts.
The manga has an introduction arc that is a bit disjointed from the timeline that none of the animated series cover as far as I'm aware (the old anime has a little bit of it but not the entire arc). The old anime and the 2012 films both cover the Golden Age arc which is the second one and the 2016 anime covers Conviction which comes after Golden Age.
So no, if you want the whole story you got to read the manga.

Thanks guys will give the manga a go , can someone breakdown the story arcs and which volumes they coincide with?
It seems like it could get expensive so if I could cover one arc with one go then tackle the next arc it would give time and save some money in between releases.

After doing some digging I think I got the arcs and what volumes they go with:
