Best 3 / Worst 3 Call of Duty Campaigns

Advanced Warfare is my no.1, it was dumb, pretty and enjoyable. I actually like cod campaigns in general, they usually seem to turn out better than expected, BO3 being the exception.

1. MW2: Holy shit the campaign was so fucking satisfying from beginning to end. The missions you get during the invasion of so fucking good. I will never fucking forget Of Their Own Accord.
2. Black Ops 1: Just for "THE NUMBERs MASON! THE NUMBERS WHAT DO THEY MEAN!?"
3. MW: I have a special appreciation of this campaign because it introduced so many classic characters.
 
I haven't played United Offensive, Black Ops 2, Black Ops 3, Modern Warfare 3, and what the hell is Finest Hour?, so I'll go with what I have played and can remember liking or not liking. I remember I tried Call of Duty 3 at least, and even though I didn't like it I don't think I ever finished it so I'll withhold judgment on that.

Best:
Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4 (In that order)

Worst:
Ghosts, Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. (in no particular order.) Not sure if the last one counts, but I know I hated it. Probably because it was a console game tbh and I was one of those "annoying" PC gamers at the time.
 
Best

1: Call of Duty (nostalgia obviously has an effect here)
2: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
3: Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

Worst

1: Call of Duty Black Ops 3
2: Call of Duty World at War
3: Call of Duty Black Ops 2

I didn't even do the worst list on purpose. Apparently I'm just not fond of Treyarch single player. On the other hand, Black Ops was just barely nudged out by Advanced Warfare as the third best CoD.

To be fair, it's been so long since I played the originals that COD2/3 sort of run together for me and I can't remember them that well. COD1 was awesome, but I have enjoyed the modern games more. I also play almost exclusively for the campaigns, and haven't really touched multiplayer much since around like BO1/MW3.
 
One person has mentioned vCoD as having the best campaign.

Is this real life?

The only two "good" CoD campaigns are vCoD and CoD4.
 
For point of reference, I haven't played 1, 2, 2:BRO or BO3.

World at war has the best story no doubt. I could care less to list the worst. All cod stories got kinda bland after mw2

Modern Warfare 3- I didn't "hate it" like I do the ther 2 on the list, and it had some cool moments, especially the end, but it just wasn't all that memorable overall.
 
I really enjoyed Modern Warfare and Black Ops 2.

CoD 2 started it all for me. CoD 3 was very meh. MW2 was good but not very different from MW1.
 
Black Ops 1 & 2, followed by MW1. BW2 stands out for how much meatier guns feel.

Worst are easy. Ghosts, BW3, and CoD5.

5 is a pathetic example of how little faith Activision had in something new. And then they tried to have it both ways by constantly giving you portable machines with large ammo boxes instead of the usual bolt-action rifles.

I actually have a hard time choosing between Advance Warfare and BlOps 2, but I'll give it to the latter for being so batshit crazy and all over the place. Plus the way the narrative branches out is one of the coolest thing CoD has done, it's such a shame they didn't stick with it afterwards.

Only 3 CoD campaigns I've played and completed are the following.

CoD 4 MW
Cod MW 2
CoD AW
CoD BoPs III

The best out of all 4 I've played to me has to be Cod4.

Heartbreakers and lifetakers

3. Modern Warfare 3 (Mw3 campaign is not bad, its just really average.)

Black ops 3 campaign was really bad and boring. I guess BO3 campaign might be fun if you co-op it, but for solo players, don't play it.

Got to be honest. Wanted to add Call of Duty 2 to the best list, but I can't remember anything specific of this game. Yeah I fought in Al Almein and there was a tank sequence, and there was some kind of landing sequence. But I can't make out any details anymore. Modern Warfare 2 on the other hand had some specific GoldenEye James Bond moments I remember quite fondly. Therefor it edges Call of Duty 2 out.

In terms of shittyness BO2, WaW and Ghosts rank all similarly close.

Honorable mention to Advanced Warfare which was quite decent. I honestly don't rate Treyarch as high as some might do.

I haven't touched Blops 3 yet (starting soon) but judging by the impressions this is going to be my answer very soon.
 
Best:

1. MW1. I liked the diversity a lot, and finally broke with WW2. Though we all want to go back now it seems.

2. CoD 2. Before the series became the juggernaut. Just a very fun campaign, better than the first game which was quite a feat.

3. Black Ops. Sort of okay and also diversity. Some good levels and time travels.

Worst:

1. Call of Duty 3. Now this game was shit. And the reason, after BRO, that I skipped Treyarch CoD games until Black Ops. Dem QTE's lol.

2. Ghosts. Just uninteresting and the game looked like shit.

3. Black Ops 3. Didn't play it much, but this futuristic shit just isn't my thing and I didn't like how this was setup. Felt even worse than Shadow Fall.

I've been out of the CoD loop since the first Black Ops, but what the hell happened to make BO3 so universally reviled?

This echoes my thoughts, however I'd swap BO3 for modern warfare 3.
 
I've only played MW, Cod 3 and Big Red One (which I barely remember anything about), so I won't bother to make a ranking, but I see 3 is on a lot of the "worst" list. I quite liked that game. I guess it was a massive step down from 2?

3. Black Ops
4. Call of Duty 2
5. Modern Warfare 2
6. Black Ops 3 Zombies Campaign
7. Black Ops 2
8. Modern Warfare 3
9. Black Ops 3

Never sunk enough time into Advanced Warfare/Ghosts to really say either way if either was good or bad.

It's just boring. The starting plot seems fun enough, the first mission was good. But then the tutorial is like three missions long and the story goes to shit.

Depending on my mood, MW2 and Advanced Warfare get switched around all the time, hell, I sometimes stick Blops 2 up there as well. MW2 just has great setpieces and those fantastic US invasion levels though, so I think it gets the edge for now.

2. Call of Duty 3
3. Modern Warfare 3

CoD seems to have a problem with 3's. Blops 3 and CoD 3 are the only campaigns I would call objectively bad though. MW3 and Ghosts are honestly interchangeable, both are mediocre, but I think MW3 edges out Ghosts because it felt too predictable, and perhaps went a bit too far up its own ass. Ghosts at least had some really great missions ("Federation Day" anyone?) and the dog was pretty neat I guess.
 
Ghost's campaign was so bad I stopped buying Call of Duty games.

I'm kind of blown away that Black Ops III is still considered to be the worst campaign in the series ... it must be really awful.
 
Best:

1.) Call of Duty 2 (amazing missions, multiple fronts of WW2, storming the beaches, etc. It was AMAZING!!).
2.) MW1 (good levels, but short)
3.) Black Ops 1 (some stealth elements, some cool stuff, good story that continues from W@W)


WORST:
1.) Black Ops 3
2.) Black Ops 3
3.) Black Ops 3
