Best characters that were randomly dropped from rosters

maxresdefault.jpg

Would have loved him in PAS!

They ditched the characters but kept the archetypes, putting little spins on them. Remy/Guile and Hugo/Zangief are obvious, but did you ever notice the similarities of Alex is to Honda? A grappler with a bit more mobility than the heavies with higher than average health, with a rushing forward special, jumping overhead special, command grab, a 120 degree overhead swipe normal. Obviously not identical, but I think purposely similar.

They perfected charge characters in Urien. And then they removed him in favor of goddamn Seth.

I wish we lived in a world where Pichu could be in all the Smash Bros game after Melee and not catch flak for being in the game instead of some other character. I know it was shitty, but that's why I love it. Plus its adorable. I guess it getting dropped wasn't exactly "random" though.

Could come up with a fair few examples from Mario Kart 8.

And if you counted the cast of Mario Bros 2. as a "roster" the omission of Princess Peach from NSMB was really lame. Or rather, having 2 playable Toads was really lame. Personally I wish they had Daisy as player 3 - keeping the classic "save Princess Peach" storyline that no one really cares about and also giving Daisy something to do.

Street Fighter 3 : New Generation dropped these people here :

JUST PRATICALY EVERYONE THAT THE FANS LOVED FROM SF2

New Generation
The new characters are better.

But of course they gave in and brought them back with 4. Predictable.

To be fair, Urien and Remy would be pretty broken in SF4. Without parries (which is the inexplicable omission in SF4 to me, to make this post relevant), these guys' options are way too strong.

Another omission: Remy can do cr.hp x blade kick. Guile inexplicably cannot. He can do the cancel, but the flash kick will whiff.

Waluigi (from MK7) and Talim (from SCV).

Dry Bones sucks, but the only characters worse than him are the metal and gold variations.

Preemptive answer: Lucas from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I wreck everything with him but it seems likely that as a clone of his less badass counterpart Ness he'll be dropped in the next game. Praying to Sakurai for his reveal though.

Also, Dizzy and Bridget from Guilty Gear. Their styles are so good! Why take them away from us? (At least that bad bitch I-no is still around.)

This topic is like SoulCalibur V: The thread.
For real. Still disappointed about Zas and Talim. And it was so dumb to give Patroklos Setsuka's moveset. Setsuka is cooler.

come onnnnn

I want to bring up some choice GG members, but I'm sure they'll be back eventually. Karin is just gone. :(

also, too many KOF characters to mention.

What's interesting is how they preserved some of Remy's setups in IV. Remy could mix you up with a high projectile and then overhead you. They now force you to burn meter, but walking behind an FADC projectile is extremely strong.

Mario Kart: The Thread

I don't know why they keep cutting fan favorite characters in seemingly each new installment. Seriously, it's not like they're difficult to program to begin with.

Jun Kazama

Jin (in Tekken 3) and Asuka just aren't the same. Jun had an amazing amount of fluidity in her moveset, almost feeling like something from a Michelle Yeoh movie, and made her so fun to play. Killing her off after Tekken 2 was one of the worst decisions Namco has made in the Tekken series.

She was never killed off though. Harada himself confirmed that Jun is still alive, just MIA. He even made statements on Twitter a year or so ago that if enough people tweeted him asking for Jun to return to the main games he could see it happening. His Twitter instantly blew up with requests. :lol

But yeah, waiting a decade for her return in TTT2 was incredibly tough.

Okay, well effectively killed off! Namco does so much retconing with their fighting games anyway. The Tag games don't really count as being on the regular series roster, but it is nice to finally at least have her (with her moveset) back in Tag 2..

Tekken 7 here we come!

sf3 alex. such a cool character and fun play style. his appearances in tvc and capcom fighting evolution were nice, he would have been perfect in sf4 and sfxt. capcom probably doesn't want to put him anything because they would have to put in back turn animations for every character currently in the game (his qfc + punch move in 3s).

DIDDY KONG.

FUCKING DIDDY KONG WAS /ROBBED/

Wait, it's confirmed.....
NOOO
Damnitt, so many drops from MKWii, feels weird.

Really annoying that metal Mario, blonde baby rosalina, and pink gold peach are the replacements

And yes, damn Dry Bones was so amazing to play as. Always my go to character in MKDS

Well OP already has my Mario Kart answer.

Others would be.

Guilty Gear - Johnny and Baiken
