This game never gets any love but Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword game on DS is great and its cheap.
Do people hate it? It was fairly well received. I really enjoyed it, even if I think it loses steam past the halfway pointI really liked Strider (2014). It is a great Metroidvania, fuck the haters.
My DS was never the same after this game entered my library. Totally butchered my touch screen playing this for hours and hours on end.
Nioh.
William is a samurai, not a ninja.

I want an HD remaster of the Otogi series.
That's like the Dragonball of NinjasProbably an unorthodox recommendation, but check out the Naruto games.
Nice to see someone else has played (or even heard of!) Ninja 5-0. One of my favorite GBA games!- Ninja 5-0 (GBA)

Also, if you're looking for something different, you can be a ninja in Bethesda's Fallouts and Elder Scrolls.
In Skyrim, I roleplayed as a Riddick wood elf w/ hair. Instead of carrying daggers, he would summon them.
It was imperfect because, even if you had silent casting, attacking with summoned weapons, even while sneaking, made noise. It gets a bit stupid tho when you no one can see you point blank and you're rolling around like a hedgehog to get everywhere.
But the point is that they can be perfectly serviceable ninja sims with the typical breadth of content a Bethesda game offers.
On that note, the Riddick games are basically ninja games compared to stuff like Splinter Cell or MGS. You can get them on GoG or Amazon in the Dark Athena package.
First post nailed it.Ninja Gaiden Black

Wow, first time hearing about this and game looks fantastic! What's the length of the game?If you're into pure stealth but don't want to play antiquated games like Tenchu, check out Aragami. One of my GOTY for 2016.
