What are some of the absolute must play true ps2 exclusives? I'm talking about games that were only released on ps2 without even a pc version. I'm getting into pcsx2 and would like to play these classics.

Valkyrie Profile 2 looks amazing in 1080p. Also all four Onimusha games have amazingly never been re-released so definitely those ones; Dawn of Dreams is a late PS2 game too so it's a real looker. Klonoa 2 despite being an earlier PS2 game is also a brilliant platformer with a really charming, even bittersweet story, and has an amazing art style that probably holds up really well in HD.

Contra: Shattered Soldier

It's a bit of a different take on the formula. The game has no weapon drops, you've got your full arsenal on you from the start. Three weapons, and each has a charge up shot with a different effect, and the game expects you to make the most of them. One of my PS2 favourites.

God Hand is a great one as well.

In terms of exclusives and that the intent is to emulate them, I imagine things under the downloadable backwards compatible umbrella are valid due to the emulation providing the better experience rather than the game being ported to newer hardware.

For PS2 I'd probably tell a random person to play all of these on PS3 rather than PCSX2 offhand.
