It's the same animation. In mgs5 you can unlock the ability to sprint faster but your initial sprint is the same of that in GZ.

Exactly. People could argue they shouldn't let you get the run speed upgrade. It takes away from the animation. Eh For a game that big it feels better. A good upgrade because you almost feel like you are finally recovering full strength from the coma after a while.

Oh, and

these are actually kind of bad. the foot placement doesnt seem like it matches the speed of how fast the character is traveling. while playing its less noticable since you're normally seeing the character from behind so its harder to see in reference to the ground like in these angles.
 
Also can't find a decent GIF but Kat's run cycle from Gravity Rush is really good as well.

is this the psvita version? loooks reaally way different. or is it the DLC?

solid snake/raiden in mgs2. loved the animation to death.

another one i grew up with was super mario in every game. its so satisfiying to run around with him, wether its 2d or 3d, it was fucking nailed by miyamoto.

i also loved the "3steps before starting to run"-phantasy star online.
 
Nothing comes close to Big Boss in MGSV in my opinion. Once you press that sprint button you can feel that you are moving a beast from one point to another. From the animations, the sound design to the feel of weight and speed - this to me is unmatched by any game and the new standard.

FFXV has incredible animations, but I haven't played it yet so I can't comment on how it feels.
 
Where in the game is this?

Start of Hemwick Charnel Lane (the big open area and the road leading up to the gate + lamp)

I got in a dumb argument in a previous thread about how prerelease footage somehow wasn't any different from the Bloodborne we got when it's so obvious that there's some measure of "downgrading". Everything about the lighting looks different, smoother, crisper, and richer in that gif.
 
Wow, my top pick showed up real quick on the first page. Big Boss in MGSV has an awesome running animation. It just works when you're bolting around in a tense situation. It also flows perfectly into dives.

Amaterasu's run in Okami is also good. The trail of grass and flowers she leaves behind, how she stretches out wile zipping around (it's a joy just darting around with her at top speed), the speed increase once you've been clopping around enough.

Kirby in Kirby's Epic Yarn and his little yarn car animation. One of the cutest things in gaming, complete with "BEEP BEEP" and squish animation when he hits something at speed.

Here's one no one has mentioned yet: The Arisen in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. When you book it in that game, you BOOK IT. When you change direction the character experiences a shift in weight and slides a bit before turning around. It's just as intense and ferocious as the encounters you find yourself in in that game.
