Biggest case of Buyer's remorse?

Not enough truly awful games in this thread.

I was super pumped to grab this after reading the previews in some PC mag. I even played the demo on PC; my computer was too shitty to run it well so I went for the SNES version. $55, got it home. I literally cried tears of disappointment and frustration after about an hour of playing it. No game has EVER made me cry for any reason, except this game. This is also the only game my mom had to give me the "you're going to play it and like it!" lecture.

Also, this:

Once upon a time in the mid 90's I went to Six Flags and played this in the arcade section. I thought it was pretty decent, and decided to pick it up for N64 with my recently acquired elementary school graduation money. ALL $80 BUCKS. I actually enjoyed this game (and not in the false hope sort of way), but in retrospect it's the only time I've spent $80 on a game, and it was definitely not worth that much.

As for recently? Ehh, I usually don't feel much of anything after buying games, but I do feel a little bad for bailing out on Mario Kart Wii after about week. I dunno...maybe I got tired or grew out of the routine MK formula, but the game pretty much did nothing for me.

GTA IV and Army of Two, being Army of two the worst of them. After buying the game and playing it i realized the stupid move i just had made by falling into the hype.

And to make things worse, in my country you cant return games. So i ended up down with $60 and with a bad game.

My first PSP, which was about three years ago. It had nothing worthwhile besides Lumines for the first two years.

Buying Mana Khemia here recently. What a shit game.

Have you tried those Atelier Iris games? They're even worse.

In my past posts I said
South Park 64
Xbox.

I just remembered something.
I found a Dreamcast memory card and remembered.

Another buyer remorse was the Dreamcast. I hardly played with it and sold it soon. All I had were two games - Sonic Adventure (kept me entertained for a while) and Dead or Alive 2 (very entertained but got boring). Rest of the games I rented but didn't really have fun.

Paying $449 for the Sega Saturn a day after Tom Kalinske announced at E3 that the original launch date in September was a decoy and that you could buy one now. I loved how the polygons in Virtua Fighter would disappear during the replays. :lol

PSP - I was totally uninterested, but I had disposable income and the launch day hype got to me. Portable Ops, UGnG, MLB 07, FF: Tactics... nothing on the PSP has clicked for me since Lumines. Gradius Collection came close, but the awful d-pad ruined it.

DS Lite - Metroid Pinball is great and I really like the Electroplankton instruction booklet, but portable gaming ain't my thing. I keep it for Astroboy and the tease of a new 2-d Metroid. Oh, which reminds me...

Metroid Prime - 3d Metroid no thanks

My buddy's girlfriends is about to get him a Wii for his birthday. I feel remorse for that and it isn't even my money.

oh crap i forgot about wii fit.

wii fit x 1000

i played it for about 7 days and now the balance board is collecting dust under my coffee table.

NCAA Football 2009- I fell for EA's bull shit yet again, thankfully I won't be repeating that mistake with Madden.

My new slogan is "Just say no to EA Sports"

So i take it you liked your Wii.

rock band :(

not the game itself though, I love that.

Buying a launch N64 at MSRP (January 1997, the price dropped by $100 here in Canada) and passing on Super Mario 64 for Killer Instinct Gold because it looked so cool in the arcades.

Either you really, really hate Nintendo, or you have some horrible taste in games.

You based your decision off of Metroid Pinball and Electroplankton?

Black & White.

It was one of the few games I've ever bought into solely on hype without first doing any research or reading reviews. It's probably the worst game purchase I've made in the last 10 years alongside Star Fox Adventures.

Some of these aren't bad games...but still.

Yoshi's Story
Beyond the Beyond
Brave Fencer Musashi
Final Fantasy 8, 10 and 10-2
Legend of Mana
Saga Frontier
Mario Party 1
Paper Mario
Ogre Battle 64
Parasite Eve
Pocky and Rocky
South Park 64
Super Mario Sunshine
Zelda: Wind Waker
Metroid Prime 2

this post has turned into more of a "post the games you dont like"
It's kind of the same thing I guess.. I know if I was hyped for a game or something and then turned out to not like it then I'd have some remorse.

Recently....

Assassin's Creed - While it looks amazing, and has a great concept, I just found it boring. I never got too far in it.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath - I don't have an Xbox to play it on D':

Wii - While I've had a good deal of fun on it, I just can't help at looking at the future and thinking "is that it?". Still have it for future releases. I just haven't turned on the thing since my spring break in early March.

I bought an Onkyo 605 and after shipping and customs, I got smashed. I demoed it at a store though, and it sounded incredible on KEF speakers...well at my house, it sounds worse than my POS HTiB receiver. My speakers do suck but I think there maybe something wrong with it. How can I check?

PS3.

There are some great games out there but Ive barely touched the system since I got it last November. Its just sitting in its box in the corner of my room...I still havent decided whether or not to sell it but I most likely will.

Why don't you, you know, buy some games?

NBA Jam '99 for N64

I was pumped about the Jam IP being retooled in sim form, and Acclaim's shiny hi-res graphics engine had me drooling. I saved, what, $60 or $70 to get on day one, and wow - what a piece of shit. The game engine was terrible, easily the worst basketball sim experience on N64 (even In The Zone '98 trumped it, IMHO).

Original Xbox w/Halo CE
Every Original Xbox game I purchased thereafter
Assassin's Creed
Spellforce 2 + Expansion
Final Fantasy Tactics PSP (Just couldn't get back into it)
Legend of Heroes PSP (Story and Dialog was terrible)
Beats PSP

Nintendo Wii and Smash Brothers Brawl

I bought the system because I thought there would be a lot of games I would play. Brawl did not interest me, in fact, I only enjoy playing it with friends. The only game I actually own now is No More Heroes. Now, the system just sits and collects dust.

I bought a used copy of Lair from Game Crazy assuming they had the same return policy as Gamestop. Bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmed.

Game Crazy is a great place to find old/used games, but their return policy (and sometimes customer service) is terrible.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic or whatever it was. I had constant problems with it an dit never ran correctly. I should actually re-try it on my new PC build... but after a month worth of problems I said fuck it and gave up.

The 360 version was buggy as hell too. I ended up not being able to complete the game because of bugs. I haven't seen a console game this buggy since that Pirates of the Caribbean XBox 1 game.

Disgaea
Ar Tonelico
Assassin's Creed
Naruto: Rise of a Ninja (360)
Ninja Gaiden 2 is fast joining this list, unless they (Tecmo + Microsoft) manage to work out the freezing issues by releasing a patch that fixes things and not introduce more problems. Look, I'm not even bitching about the blood splatters that are half floating in midair and half on the walls. I just want a functional game.

Well...let's see....

Dark Cloud; I only bought it cause I was too impatient to wait for an actuall good RPG to hit the PS2 :(

Sonic Next-Gen; I loved the demo, the trailers looked kinda cool especially the ones where sonic was going super fast....but....you know the rest.

The Game Gear; Other than Sonic Triple Trouble that system was pure suckage

What kind of old games does your gamecrazy have? All the gamecrazies I've been to only have sports games, sports games and more old sports games.

I guess at first it was my PSP, because I purchased it just for Valkyrie Profile. That's since turned around and I love my PSP.

Other than that, I can't think of anything else I really regretting buying...

I am usually pretty picky with what I buy; but for one of my birthdays, I was bought Def Jam: Icon. Went on Ebay that night. :lol

Just thought of a couple more -

- Makai Kingdom. I loved loved LOVED Disgaea, enough that I picked up La Pucelle on release day. It was alright, but I didn't really like it too much. I chalked that up to it actually being an older game than Disgaea (but released in the US later). I was still pumped for Phantom Brave, which I ALSO got on release day. Never even bothered to finish that. I resolved that Disgaea was just lightning in a bottle, and I wouldn't be buying any more N1 games without trying them first. I didn't get Makai Kingdom on release day, but I did buy it at full price for some unknown reason, and I think I was only a couple of hours in before I just stopped, asked why I did this to myself once again, and sold it on ebay.

- Going apeshit on PC games at Circuit City when they had a 50% off all games under $19.99 sale back in February. Bought 14 games, 6 of which I sold before I even opened them up and another 3 or so which I played for a couple of hours and then sold. The other 5 still sit sealed on my shelf to this day and are so far down the backlog I'll be surprised if I even open two of them for the rest of the year.

- GTA4, I guess. I don't generally have buyer's remorse on games that just turn out bad, but I do have it on things that turn out bad that in retrospect I shouldn't have bought in the first place. For instance, I don't have buyer's remorse on Phantom Brave, even though I hated it, because it looked good and N1 still had Disgaea goodwill going for it, but I do have remorse for Makai Kingdom because in the back of my head I knew it wasn't for me and I got it anyway. That's the case with GTA4; I hadn't owned a GTA game since the original 2D version on the PSX, and though I enjoyed GTA3 a lot, I never bought it. Never even played any of Vice City or San Andreas. But still, I decided to grab GTA4 on release day, and it is on ebay right now (for the second time, had a deadbeat buyer a few months ago then just procrastinated putting it up again).

Really?! I loved Black and White. It was my favorite game at the time, with a great concept, it had a great modding community, and to this day it is far superior to Black and White 2.

I remember when the Dreamcast version got canned.
