Biggest case of Buyer's remorse?

This is a very dangerous thread, but I'm going to have to go with 360 simply because I was hoping it would be a bit more of a developed console at the time I got it. I should've waited for the price drop coming this winter to get the right value for the console, but otherwise it's definitely overhyped. I'm gonna have to disagree with the GAF/World consensus on Wii though. I'm probably the only guy that loves this machine more than the other systems.

I regretted my Wii for a long time, but after playing quite a few enjoyable games recently, that has changed.

PSU (for PC) still stands as my biggest case of remorse. Worst. Interface. Ever. Oh, and the initial online content (you don't even get a free month!) only lasts about ten hours before you're regrinding the same six stages over and over. I really don't see how I could eventually regret any PC game purchase more. I mean, I can't even resell the damn thing.

Boom Blox.

It is a fun game (with some horrible glitches), don't get me wrong. However, the main reason I got it is the wife wanted a game we could both play (she seems to have an allergic reaction to FPS and Action games). So I get it, we play it for a few days then she goes "This is kind of boring and repetitive". She is 1 step closer to realizing that is what the Wii is...

I know a kid who cried after he successfully convinced his grandma to get him a Jaguar for Christmas. He played it for about an hour and then said to himself, "What have I done?"

:lol

heh, I loved the one game I played on the Jaguar. Aliens vs Predator...

I was far to poor to buy one, so I rented it (do they even rent console anymore?). Got AVP and some other game... Cannot remember what it was lol.

MGS4.

I played through the first one so I kind of knew what to expect, but it was way too much movie and not enough game. The online game's implementation was a COMPLETE joke. "So, instead of just using my PSN ID, I have to create not one, but TWO different IDs, one of which requires an alphanumeric password, and the other one is only numeric...".

I'm so thankful that Battlefield: BC came along just a week or two later so I could fire Konami's turd back to Gamestop. My conscience wouldn't let me directly sell it to someone on eBay. :lol

I'll also have to add Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. I played through a number of hours, and the gameplay and load times were just atrocious (among virtually other aspect). I couldn't believe I paid full price for it. Then, shortly after, I was robbed of a bunch of games, including MC. I consider it divine revenge for owning such a shitty game.

Even though I hate the Wii (my wife and kid play ours, otherwise I'd sell it), I do have to agree that out of the three systems it was clearly the most ready for prime-time at launch.

The 360 and PS3 were both rushed, with horrific consequences for both machines.

Yeah too bad psp hasn't had any games this year. Except for the truck load of releases in the last 6 months. Including Hot Shots 2, God of war, and Crisis core among others

Don't get me wrong, those games are good and I love the PSP. But last year's fall lineup was full of games that were tailored to the handheld (i.e. Crush, Brave Story, Jeanne Darc, FFT). I really liked Crisis Core, but I thought that God of War was lacking on the PSP. Also, you forgot to mention Patapon, which was fantastic as well. With that said, what is coming out for the system this fall?

Though I have a N-gage, i was happy with it.

Biggest Case: Xbox 360

Probably the dumbest thing I've ever read

Probably Mass Effect and GTA4... but neither of those were terrible cases just a "I paid 60 dollars for this?"

Both games were mediocre at best (GTA4 was pretty good, but lacked that something special, which was disappoiting because GTA3 had it in spades) and somehow got spectacular reviews. Fuck reviewers.

I've been really close to picking up a Wii a few times now for the couple good games, but then I get pre-buyers remorse and never do it.

Wow. My two most recent regrets as well. Good thing I bought ME used.

Jaguar was the big one back when it came out. But AvP, T2K, Iron Soldier, even a good conversion of Raiden were at least good band-aids for the self-inflicted wound. Still have the Jag and T2K stored away.

I did have another instance just recently with SC4 PE, but managed to return it before cracking it open. The $70+ is certainly there to spend, but seeing it all applied to nothing more than one frikkin' videogame never sits well with me.

But that is for all Konami online games online, it's just not MGS4. Plus most people bought MGS4 for the single player aspect

Sadly, it has been Ninja Gaiden 2 most recently.

I bought it from Ebay, and although the item was marked PAL, I got a NTSC copy instead. No matter, I thought, if the game is anywhere near as good as NG1 (I love that game) I won't want to trade it.

Sadly, I was very wrong. A combination of the shitty camera, unforgivable technical issues, terrible bosses and gameplay that felt a lot worse than the original has left me totally regretting buying the game, and even more annoyed that I can't trade it.

SegaCD for sure for me. I played Sewer Shark for about a day, and that's how long it took for the cool graphics to wear off, and I started to ask myself, this game suck's balls, why did I buy this thing?

Thanks to a very generous return policy at Wal-Mart, I walked out with my $250 in cash about six months after I had purchased the thing from Toys R Us.

There are other online Konami games that use that horrible system besides MGS4??

Also, I mentioned the single player as being half of the reason I hated that game. It seemed like just as the action got going, there was another 20+ minutes of cutscene to sit through. Like I said, I KNEW about the cutscene thing having played the original MGS and part of MGS2, but they took it to such lengths that the whole experience felt like an interactive movie.

And really, when I think about the most memorable things that happened in MGS4, they all happened in cutscenes. That's not a good thing.

At the end of the day I'm glad the game sold well, I just wish I hadn't personally helped out. :lol

Xbox 360.

I have to turn the speaker volume to max just to drown out the sound of the console.

Plus I always am afraid that if I play it too long it will break.

Devil may cry 4, I liked bloody palace but other that the game just wasnt any fun.

C'mon i have to fight all the bosses 3 TiMES!!!!.. so stupid

It's a foregone conclusion. Just enjoy playing the crap out of it. :D

What do you mean repackaged and got your 600 back?

You opened the product, you used it, and you got a refund?

Are they that dumb?!?!?!?
I used to work at an EB, so I got some clear stickers to reseal it. I have a friend who works in the electronics department at WalMart, so he helped out. The thing was almost exactly how it came brand new, aside from some wear on the sticks. I even reformatted the thing.

most recently it would probably be Blue Dragon.

I also got Golf: Tee it Up, then two days later my wife got me Hot Shots Golf for PS3. Wish i wouldnt have wasted my 800 ms points.

edit: i'd also throw in Brawl and Mario Kart Wii.

Pokemon Snap.

I played it at a friend's house for about an hour, and I was like, "This game is awesome!", so I delayed getting Pokemon Yellow and rushed out to procure Pokemon Snap.

Little did I know that I'd already played almost the entire game.

:(

I don't get buyer's remorse too often (and this is coming from the guy who bought the Dreamcast at launch only to get a swift nut-kick later on when it was being sold for $99 dollars virtually everywhere), but the only recent example I can think of is Ninja Gaiden II. It's a good game combat wise and the weapons kick all kinds of ass. However, the massive technical issues and an utter lack of any reasonable balance on anything higher than Warrior makes me regret picking up the game for the full $60 price tag.

Besides NGII.. I guess Phantom Brave being an unplayed paperweight for the past two years is pretty much up there.

Smash Bros Brawl, the amount of effort (there was a huge snowstorm earlier in the morning, so I had to walk to Walmart on foot 45 mins each way) and money I spent to get the game wasn't worth it. It's probably the most disappointing game for me in my history of playing video games.

Edit: Also probably the original Xbox, I bought it because of the Halo 2 hype, Halo 2 was a massive disappointment (not as big as Brawl though), and I essentially paid $300 for a souped up PS2 (which I already owned), atleast the multiplatofrm games were always better for the Xbox :/

Edit 2: Wii also comes close, but the fact tat my family and friends enjoy it (even though I don't) has offset the remorse.

Reasons to keep console:

Wii: Next Zelda and Pikmin.

360: Gears, Halo, tons of exclusive JRPGS.

PS3: Most first party stuff.

stop the whining, just wait up.

Two games coming out over a year, or possibly two years, is not a reason to keep a console you don't otherwise use.

not every gamer needs to have every friggin' console.
