Biggest case of Buyer's remorse?

Hey if you hate your Steel Battalions, I'm looking for one ;)

And add me up to the Super Paper Mario list. That shit was horrible.

Super Paper Mario.

Man did that game suck hardcore donkey balls.
That would usually mean something, but didn't you also dislike Wario Land Shake?

SPM I can understand, but WLS?

SPM has its core appeal and challenge as well. Not saying it was GREAT, but it wasn't total shit either.

The Wii. I camped out for 6 hours for what was supposed to be a giant revolution in video games and got a controller that barely works except in simplistic minigames. I spent the first year trying to justify my purchase by buying games such as Super Paper Mario and Wario Ware Smooth Moves and ROMs off VC. I sold the system after Brawl came out and I was disappointed by it. To be fair, Super Mario Galaxy is the best Mario game ever and one of the best games of all time.

Original DS Fat. I saw one in stores and jumped on it....only to realize there was probably one or two games I actually wanted to play at the time :lol

Ironically, I can't get enough of my DS Lite and all the games out for it now (Bangai-O this week, YEAH)

probably the call of duty that launched with the wii. I bought it, tried playing it, and was so pissed off that none of the motions worked that I sold it 2 hours later. Don't give me this shit.

PS3, yeah... if we had known that Final Fantasy XIII would had been on the 360, we wouldn't have bought it. We only have 3 games for this system... but I have been using it for Blu-ray, so its not so much of a regret though.

All of last generation.

I thought I was a hardcore gamer and bought all the consoles and a ton of games. I really got into it. As I was starting high school, I looked at all my games (I had at least 400 between all my consoles - all the accessories and multiple GBA SP's - I even bought a PSone and had quite a nice collection of rare PSone games) and realized that I'd only played a few of them to completion confirming that I was wasting my time and my parents money on something I wasn't really interested in. It was like my entire life up until that point had been a lie. I was actually kind of angry that my parents let me get away with it. After careful deliberation, I decided to get rid of it all and said that if I was going to be a gamer at all, I'd only game on one console and one console only.

That console is the DS Lite and I couldn't be happier with that decision.

Either SimIsle or Cooking Mama. In both cases my emotion upon starting the game could be best described as "WTF is this shit."

Day-one purchase of the first Xbox... 479€ spent only to be back-fu**ed a couple of months later with a 200€ discount...
I felt so stupid....
At least Mircrosoft offered 2 games and a pad as compensation.

The Wii is climbing the list pretty quick for me. It's pretty sad, I was so excited when I bought it but the complete lack of any truly compelling triple-A software coming out in 2009 is killing me. I just moved to a new place about two weeks ago. I unpacked the 360 and PS3 the night I moved in. The Wii is still in it's box and will be for the foreseeable future until something quality comes out (which, sadly, will probably be Mega Man 2 on Virtual Console).

The original PSP was a huge disappointment for me too. It's the only system I've actually gotten rid of. I never get rid of systems, because I feel like a fool if I buy it a second time when some killer piece of software comes out. I had Lumines and Wipeout. They were both fantastic. There was no software to speak of after those two. It was really pathetic. The systems is FINALLY getting to the point where there are quality titles coming out fairly often. I almost want to buy one again, but I won't because a portable system just isn't necessary in my life anymore now that I'm out of college.

My 60gig PS3. I got it on ebay with 5 games for $500 bucks. I beat Uncharted which was a great game. Motorstorm just plain sucks. I didn't bother playing the other games I got with it. Right now there aren't any PS3 games I'm interested in. White Knight Stoy can't come soon enough! Now the PS3 has taken the places as my dvd/bluray player.

EarthDefenseForce2017 - It sits on my shelf as a constant reminder to be wary of GAF hype.

Guitar Hero for 360 - Once you get used to star power activation on Wii, you can never go back. Tried an X-Plorer, tried a Les Paul, both felt completely broken

Super Paper Mario - I had to force myself to finish that turd of a game.

PS3

I bought into the MGS4 hype. Played through 2 acts and got bored. It has been collecting dust next to my Wii for 6 weeks. The controller is a piece of shit compared to the 360 and WTF is up with system updates taking 30 minutes to download? When the 360 has a system update it takes about 6 seconds. Also after messing around a bit on PSN I can gladly say my 50$ a year is very well justified for xbox live.

mnn... LAir... i wanted to try myself.....

and Oblivion. great game, but depressing as helllllllll... i was begging people for a lame joke after a couple of hours..

Wii Fit. Gets old really fast. Not enough activities. Damn software doesn't even suggest a workout program.

Besides, I already spend close to 2 hours everyday in my Ashtanga practice, so I can't imagine when I thought I'd have the time for more working out.

Hopefully some fantastic game is coming along to make the board worth its price tag, but the way things are going, I'm not holding my breath.

Halo 3 Legendary Edition.

They're practically giving it away for free now! Limited quantities my ass.

As Seinfeld once brilliantly said, it's limited to the number of copies they can sell.

Bloody Coded Arms Contagion and Tenchu on PSP. I love my PSP, and I sure as hell tried to love those games...but, the damage was done. Tenchu got a swift trade-in and Coded Arms is relegated to the very back of the collection.

"Interests:
Cleveland Cavaliers, XBOX 360 FTW!"

Hmm ok! :lol

my first car

also, i just impulse-bought another pair of bapes at the busy works store in soho... probably didn't need another $200 pair of sneakers :lol

Xbox 360

For some stupid reason I continue buying games for it, probably something to do with having to justify the HDTV set in our living room.

I now own 20+ games for the thing, and yet EDF 2017 and Gears of War are the only two that feel like they're worth owning.

Every day I come home and look at my 360, PS3, and Wii surrounding my 42" plasma and think "Why the hell did I spend this much on video game stuff in the last half year?" The Wii is the only one that I had pre-2008.

Then I go to the back room and see my new video card and monitor and it hits me again.

Age of Conan - Played for the first month, just didnt grab me. I gave it a try cause I can watch Conan the Barbarian anytime its on tv... had to give it a shot.

GTA4 - Gotta say I dont care for this series. All I ever do it drive around and do stupid shit then I just get bored and turn it off. Doesnt deserve the insane scores it got imo.

Zelda TP - I dont know since the Zelda WW... I only want Zelda to look like that. You put TP in and its like you smear dirt all over your screen. I think they nailed a timeless look with Zelda WW, its a shame they went back to the shit we have now. Besides the fact playing it with the waggle annoys me, as did the dog etc. Ohh big deal I can aim, still find it annoying. Maybe with 1:1 someday. Just wasnt for me.

Damn bro. Buy Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, and Resistence and get some worth out of that thing. Pick up some PSN games too.

Wii.

I'm only keeping it because the motion add on might actually deliver what I thought was promised in the first place. Even then I don't think I care.

pretty much.. i bought a wii riding off my love for my GC and hype for galaxy and prime 3. (and my own, naive fantasies of fzero gx 2, pikmin, and an animal crossing MMO) while the games i bought were quite fun, neither really blew me away - had a few weeks fun with mario kart too but since then it's been gathering dust :(

Calling All Cars-- even at the $4.99 price. It might be better if I can actually get a room full of people playing.

More recently, 'PAIN' on PSN. I didn't realize how much of a micro-transaction fest that game would be. Gladly, I got that on the $4.99 sale as well.

Recently it is probably GTA4 because I got sucked into the hype sold/traded Uncharted and The Orange Box (before I had beaten ep1 and 2) to get it. Now I have a boring game I don't play and don't have 2 games I really enjoyed and wish to play again.

Also even though it wasn't very expensive Gauntlet 2 for PSN. I bought it assuming it would have voice chat:lol I played like 10 mins right after I got it and never again.

16GB iPod Touch -- bought it a few months ago for $300 and regretted it almost immediately after. But now, I can't imagine life without it. Useful little thing.

Alright, since my first answer isn't true buyer's remorse, I'd have to say recently I completely regretted the purchase of Age of Conan. It made me even buy a brand new rig to support it, which now handles e-mail, AIM, web-browsing, and occasional bits of gaming off of Steam. ><

Hello friend , you are not alone.

Age of conan is the biggest pile of shit Ive ever bought considering the rig( 8800gt/quad etc) I bought for it plays like shit too..20-25 fps? Tech support is not supported by Funcom... the community is in " charge " :lol .

1. Superman 64 ( Returned this game after playing it for 10 mins )
2. Age of Conan ( Awful bugs ruin this game into oblivion , the devs dont care and they hardly communicate with anyone. Horrible service and experience )
3. Lost planet ( Yeah... not the best 3rd person shooter Ive bought)

In terms of videogames, getting No More Heroes
for full price.

Wii is flip-flop for me.

Some days i wonder why i got it, while other days im glad i didn't spend that money on anything related to a PS3 or 360.

Of course add to that the numerous days when i wonder why the hell i spent so much money already on the same hobby my 7-year-old cousin is interested in...the money spent on the Wii (which i think is pretty damn expensive for a console) could have been spent getting schoolbooks.

The Orange Box and the Okami Art Book.

After Portal The Orange Box quickly became meaningless to me.

And I haven't actually received my copy of the Okami Art Book yet, but hey, I paid $26 for an art book...Not sure if that was wise (but I LOVE Okami)...

Wii.

After the initial novelty of motion controls wore off, I realized that they weren't going to be fun enough for me to make up for the rest of the system's shortcomings, and that Nintendo's design decisions basically guaranteed that the system would miss out on a lot of good third party games. I kinda wish I had held onto it for Galaxy, but I couldn't really justify a $250 purchase for one game. I'll probably buy one again sometime in the future (maybe for Pikmin 3), but given this fall's
lo
lineup, it'll be late 2009 at the earliest.

Runners-up:

GTA Collection on Steam - Thought I'd try getting into the older games after enjoying 4, but they just didn't click with me. And GTA 1 and 2 are available for free from Rockstar.

Assassin's Creed - I was really intrigued by the concept, and it was fun for a while, but once the repetition set in, the flaws became really apparent and disappointing.

Halo 3 Collector's Edition - The extra $10 wasn't really a big deal financially, but every time I see that case it reminds me that I would have been just fine with the normal version.

Just recently, Soul Caliber IV. I have never played a game so un-fun in my life. When you want to throw a $55 controller four times at one stage of ToLS, then the game is not worth your money.

Online is really boring as well. I'm NEVER picking up another fighting game again.

Have you ever gotten home from the store with a big purchase and been hit with an enormous wave of buyer's remorse? Heck, it doesn't even have to be a big purchase, I've gotten it even when I spent less than twenty bucks. So what's your worst experience of buyer's remorse, and what caused it. Was it the amount of money spent, or a complete destruction of the hype you had for that particular game or something else.

Every FIFA since 2004. Bought into the hype, but they never ended up playing as good as last-gen Winning Eleven. I usually returned/sold them after a couple of days.

I had a little bit of remorse when I sold my Wii for the PS3. I missed Wii Sports, Smash Bros, and Pro Evolution Soccer Wii

Back around when the PS2 launched, I bought Onimusha and Zone of the Enders at the same time because I REALLY wanted something new to play on my PS2 and the MGS2 demo. After finishing both games in under around 10-12 hours, I had really hard pangs of disgust that I paid $50 for eac of them. Onimusha wasn't that great and Zone of the Enders was cool but was extremely short.

This gen, I regret purchasing Calling All Cars, Blast Factor and Super Rubadub (only a little bit though).

A combination of demos and $60 for games has kept me from buying anything on a disc that I'm not absolutely sure I'll enjoy.

Soul Calibur 4.

Usually not a HUGE fan of fighting games as is ... bought it on impulse ... don't really like it.

Before that was Age of Conan ... what a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE excuse for an MMO. Not to mention the CRAZY high system requirements to get the game looking not really all that much better than some lower games.

(Yes I spent about $1,500 to build a computer to run AoC at max settings ... I should've played the game at crap settings for a while before spending all that ... but hey, least I have a good computer now I guess)

Oblivion for the PS3 back when I just got it.

Hated, hated, HATED everything about that game, but I tried my best to convince myself that it would get better and that it would stop sucking after a certain amount of time. After a few days, and beating The Dark Brotherhood quests, I finally sold it off to some chump and never looked back.

I don't have many, since I'm usually pretty careful about what I buy. But I wish I had just rented Assassin's Creed and GTA IV. Two games where I just got caught up in the hype. Not that they're bad games (Well, AC kinda is but I enjoyed some of it), but after I beat the stories in both I barely played them again.
