he's guilty of leveraging his position of power to discuss bringing in fans up to a suite specifically for sex, who may be willing to go up there thinking of potential professional upside. This is not a 'boys will be boys', and if your group chat is like the one posted, you may want to reconsider whether you're part of the problem.

Anyone in a position of power or influence needs to respect the responsibility thats comes with it, and recognize that if you werent attratcive or funny before you were famous and suddenly youre hilarious and all the women want you, odds are you didnt get hotter, its the job thats giving you shine and you should never leverage that sexually.

I'm using an extreme example to point out the flaw in logic that simply because its a fictional, digital character means it should remain in tact.

The real life employee was a named sexual predator in the lawsuit and has a history of problematic behavior. If someone on my team who I worked with for years named a character after themselves (like a moron), and then all that stuff came to light and they were removed from the project I wouldn't want their association within the game either. It doesn't take a whole lot of empathy and emotional intelligence to understand that point of view. Obviously there's a big financial/business perspective Activision-Blizzard is taking with their approach here, too.

Doesn't that completely ignore the feelings of the audience who had no idea about any of that and only play overwatch because they have bonded with the characters? I dont think developers should be making unpopular decisions in games based only on the feelings of the development team. They could easily choose a different name to refer to the character internally, but instead they are taking away a character's identity for all the players, and the characters are arguably the best thing about the game.

I dont think developers should be making unpopular decisions in games based only on the feelings of the development team.

I don't like the company and I think someone should be punished for the whole scandal, but it's their game - they don't owe you anything. You can voice your opinion and try to change things but in the end if you don't like it you should stop playing.

I agree they don't owe me anything personally because I don't play the game. If I was a McCree main I'd be pissed though. When the game is an embryo I agree it's all up to the dev team, but once the game is released the audience shares in the ownership, or else who are they making the game for, just themselves? To me it's irresponsible to rip an established character's identity out of their still beating chest because of some workplace interpersonal drama. As others have said this reeks of a useless gesture designed to distract from the real scandal and ceremonially murder McCree to atone for Blizzard's sins.
