I've read in gaf that she is very serious and business like. Stern etc

So not wanting to get interrupted would follow that trend.

Doesn't work very well for her here and she should have had a caring answer and then being stern.

If you are ever around serious people though, they put what they believe is right first and sort of angrily without thinking of any other issue. This isn't always bad but definitely can be as it is imo

It isn't exactly her question that got her talked down to. No matter what she or who she was would probably get her talked down to.. Maybe.

I think a lot of those videos of people talking about doing coming up to hug hillary are always staged for the most part

Everyone who follows her CONSTANT waffling knows that's what she said, and she thinks it to this day....denying it is futile...good move by the girl....someone has to do something to get Hillary supporters out of their trance of believing this woman isnt a psychopath...She clearly is. I would seriously vote for Donald Trump ahead of this witch, at least then there might be real change next round as a Trump presidency would expose the system in a final way...it should not have to get to that though; gracious to murgatroid vote Bernie!

ITs really simple america, those who are easily manipulated and lack insight vote for the hegemonizing establishment, even when it has obviously lost its benevolence (I an pro establishment when it is benevolently and scientifically run); those that are resilient to manipulation and can recognize a psychopath vs. someone who is altruistic and sincerely trying to help are voting Bernie in a heartbeat..its a total no brainer. Fear that there isnt enough for support for logic is complete paranoia and more manipulation from those that can afford to pay for mass indoctrination, pandering to race issues and fear mongering. THis whole election is the most disgusting display of a lack of morals and insight since the Reagan and Bush ridiculousness. This is the first time since Regan the establishment could take a real kick in the teeth...DO IT! The 7 TRILLION bailout of wall street happened people! It wasn't a dream....that would pay for the Universal health care system in Canada for 50 years! Take away a your war in Iraq and you could have paid for our health care for 100 years! Someone stole 14 T_R_I_L_L_I_O_N dollars from you and all you can do is say, oh well, at least Hillary will be the first female president, thats cool?

The only way Hillary could have looked good here is if she told the small hissing crowd to shut up, and engage the question like it was a town hall.
Yep, that would've been a good response. But here it really shows that Hillary is only loooking for the approval of the majority in the room she currently is. One would think she would've been prepared for a situation like this after what happened to Bernie and O'Malley, but appatently her thought on that was only how to put activists inro back rooms.

This is a flagrant misquote.

She said "Back to the issues. The issues that I think are important ..." And the video cuts from there.

I did misquote slightly, and I apologize (wrote that after a first viewing).

I don't think it's flagrant, though - "back to the issues...the issues that I think are important."

Really, that's the best you've got?

I don't know how Hillary could have handled it better, but at least she didn't stand there stone silent, then respond with "If you don't want me to be here I won't be here" and peace off the stage. She attempted to engage the girl.
Attempted to engage the girl while letting her get kicked out.

Activist singular. Mass incarceration should be viewed as a national shame. I've only ever heard Hillary say "it had consequences we did not intend" which is bs. Anyone could have told her and Bill Clinton and every other politician who helped perpetuate mass incarceration what the effects would be on the black community, black families, and black men.

It's far too easy to make these claims now as they can't be debunked. There's a lot of hindsight bias at work in overestimating how obvious it was. Yes, there most certainly could have been some people who could've pointed it out, but who knows whether they did or were given a chance.

There's a terrible reality in all of this, that is far from specific to the Clintons, but it's about money shaping these information spaces behind the decisions. It doesn't matter what your values are, if you can't get a clear picture, you'll never make decisions that support them.

At the very least, when Sanders was interrupted in similar fashion he didn't try to silence/remove the two young women and instead let them say what they had to say.
At the time he had no Secret Service detail. If he did they would have presumably done the same as hers did.

Although, I guess she could have told them to stop.

Are you talking about hindsight in terms of recognizing that mass incarceration was and is based on deeply racist beliefs and has crippled the black community in so many ways? No one needed hindsight to predict that. Did you glance at the article at all? It lays out the ideology, assumptions, and political motivations, including racist motivations that led to adopting and advancing the policies of mass incarceration knowing full well what the consequences would be. It is a deeply complicated issue, and both parties are guilty. But hindsight was never needed. Democrats advanced these policies knowing they were destroying black families for generations for political gain. Did they also believe mass incarceration would drive down crime? Yes, I'm sure many did. But these were never "colorblind" policies.

So psychopath and sexist language and I'd rather Trump in one sentence. Yep must be an HRC hate thread

That's not what she said. She said "Back to the issues." Then the video cuts off at the beginning of another sentence.

I would actually like to hear the rest of that sentence.

Same here. Not only does this video seem to be robbed of context but the video that was quote mined as a point of reference too was devoid of context.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALXulk0T8cg

I'm pretty sure Hilary didn't say "[Black people are] not just gangs of kids anymore. They are often the kinds of kids that are called super predators.". I would like to see both clips in full before I judge what I just saw.

I don't think so. Notice how he was interrupted two times by BLM activists. He could've upped security after the first time, even without SS, but didn't. Have your heard of many instances in which anybody was denied access to his speeches?

This is her audience that night btw. They want to hear the issues that matter

Well, that explains quite a bit.

Tailoring your speech to your audience is Speech-making 101.

Tailoring your views to your audience is not, but that's not what is happening here.

Maybe start recognizing how much influence the US has on other countries that have to suffer as a result of the US hegemony and you might realize how frustrating it is when educated altruists in other countries struggle their whole life to help the poor and infirm, only to see that toil go up in flames. why do you think Bernie is running against her...so he can get a few $200k speeches (like she gets) in before he croaks? The worst is 60% of people in the US are on board but for whatever reason don't make it to the polls?!?!?!? You didn't find it strange that the Nevada caucus was on a Saturday? You dont find it strange that CNN is pro Clinton? Most on here recognize these things and just shrug it off, oh well , you dont understand America, thats just the way it is? THis is disgusting. Any other reaction is inappropriate in a supposed democratic system.
Man Hillary looks bad in this video. She comes off as being so..mean

[SLOW CLAP] Maybe that's because she is? Only young sycophants can work on her staff, she is a complete dictator when it comes to her affairs...why do Americans think that in order to be a real leader, you have to "tough" and unemotional???? These are the same qualities as psychopaths, they have no conscience....The toughest decisions are those that require restraint and compassion. It should be obvious to all if Hillary's cat came a purring at the wrong time it would get kicked....she more than obviously is a dog person however, its the authoritarian ability to shout out the commands and get instant obedience...she says "SIT" and America will damn well SIT! She wont channel that energy against her buddies on wall street.....If I didn't detest that outcome so much I would almost relish the opportunity to send a TODASO your way, but I wont...it'll just be sad and annoying if america can t change their mind and it happens.

All that said she is better than Cruz and Rubio...that is just too dangerous to let those types near a nuclear weapons button. If either would have a chance to win I would indeed vote for HIllary given no other alternatives. Ironically there are other alternatives. Sitting out is the worst of all options.

Williams said she contributed $500 to get in. So, not cheap either.

And this video is now trending on Twitter under #NotASuperPredator.

That's sad, since that is not the real problem of the video. But of course the out of context soundbite trends.

This scenario isn't a 1:1 parity as the guy isn't a protester necessarily, but rather someone who took an opportunity to ask a question and chose to vent for several minutes instead. It's the best analog I can find for how Bernie would have handled this situation now that he has secret service. He didn't give the guy a great answer (although the guy didn't seem intent on asking a coherent question anyway), but he listened the whole time.

Dude no offense but you can't tell the difference between Trump and Clinton.

Anyone who defaults to I'd rather Trump doesn't have any leg to stand on.

She mishandled this, just like Sanders mishandled his. To default to she's a psychopath and call her a witch (hella sexist bud) is just ridiculous.

I hope this knocks her numbers a bit leading into SC/ST. The timing is pretty good for it and I imagine it'll be everyone online tomorrow.

Well this is a whole lot of words that basically says nothing.

I still have no idea why you hate Hillary so much other than you think she's a bit emotionless and a dictactor for some reason.

I expect protests at Bernie events tomorrow too?

You misunderstood.......Trump is worse, HIllary will fly under the radar...TrUmp = establishment FULLY exposed. Hillary = more of the same. I just think it is laughable that it will take another round of Cruz/Rubio/ or Trump to WAKE UP AMERICA! Trump is the least damaging of the three to make a point...i.e. that money, being rich and being form a certain ruthless business pedigree isnt the most important thing in a leader, its brain cells and compassion. Trump actually said he wants single payer health care BTW, he won't have poeple dying on his watch is what he says. Its just so sad that America could finally start on the path to becoming a benevolent nation 4 years earlier, but looks like it will have to wait...could be another 40 years until the next Bernie comes along. When was the last time you had an option like Bernie? Canada had Tommy Douglas in 1958, unless you count Greens who get 2% of the popular vote, there hasn't been anything close, even in Canada, a "socialist" country since the 60's as the entire world was took over by monied interests in the early 70's and it has endured my entire life....this is a once in a lifetime opportunity...that's whats so sad and so frustrating...establishment is actually succeeding at weeding out the popular vote by spending hundreds of millions on propaganda, playing dirty by having the caucus in Nevada on Saturday night, etc etc etc. Billionaires don't mind taking turns which of their billionaire shills get in power, left or right is a facade. Thats why they all congregate at Bohemian Grove...I mean, despite that its rife with conspiracy theory, a la JOnes the basic facts really exist...the left and right elite really go there and hob nob with each other, that part is real!

I'm Canadian. Reality is the GOP winning, and you clearly don't get this, won't be a wakeup call. It will just be a shift to the right. They'll stack the court, have full control of all 3 parts of the Federal Government.

So when you say rather have Trump you're saying sacrifice women’s rights, LGBT rights, minorities rights for a hope 4 years down the road. That's crap, especially because even if you get a Sanders down the road, a conservative SC will just undo all socialist policies by finding them unconstitutional.

Wishing for someone worse in the hope to inspire someone better in the future rarely gets you someone better, it just gets worse.

You know that thing where your parents would catch you smoking as a kid and they'd be so upset that they force you to smoke the whole pack and you'd feel so sick that you never want to smoke again? Trump could be America's pack of cigarettes.

Okay so I saw where the 12 second clip came from.

She was likening 1996 drugs, crimes, and gangs to the mobs of the past. That it isn't just gangs of kids any more. Included now are the drug cartels. That what they were dealing with now were super predators and that they asked the president to get the FBI involved.

They can talk about race when they're given time to think and process, the second someone from Black Lives Matter get in their face they turn into the whitest people on the planet.

You'd think with BLM and protests being in the news so often, they or at least their teams could prepare answers for these situations even if they don't really mean it. The fact that they haven't even taken that step is telling.

Yeah sure that analogy works...but only if we extend it to say the kid got lung cancer because of it and may never recover.

except, yeah, in this case it's more like the kid develops inoperable lung cancer after smoking the whole pack

at the same time, it really makes me wonder how Hypothetical Third-Term Obama would respond to it (e: being heckled by BLM protesters, since he definitely doesn't have the '90s record to get these exact questions)

I think she should have been better prepared for being interrupted (and this isn't the first time). I don't know how she could have been prepared for being asked that question in that manner, though.

Interesting thing, Hillary says near the end of that video that she's never been asked that question before, I imagine in reference to her superpredator comment. Struck me as strange. Has she REALLY not been asked about that before? A Google search turned up nothing.

It wouldn't surprise me; it's not something that would stick out to or bother your average interviewer or town hall participant, and no one has been as straightforward as BLM this year and last year. With Clinton in the running for president and in light of what she's been saying, people are going to be examining what she said in the past more closely now.

She could have simply apologized and not kicked the girl out.

She instead waited until the girl was being kicked out before getting "back to the issues."

Regardless of whether or not Hillary wanted to apologize, you don't kick out minority activists from your speeches. And Williams even paid to get in.

After her speaking so eloquently about social justice in the last town hall, this came off as especially horrid. I really hope she wasn't making a quip at the end, and that it was just poor editing.

Why would she be asked about it though? Is there a drug cartel defense force that doesn't want to be called a super predator?

Google searching came up with this.

http://www.c-span.org/video/?c4557866/hillary-clinton-criminal-justice-drug-policy-circa-1996

Where she was calling gangs out for no longer being just kids. But that there were now (well, then) kids with ties to mob like organized crime and the drug cartel. These were the super predators she was referring to. Kids with specific ties that the FBI needed to investigate.

I feel like that 12 second clip was cut explicitly to take it out of context. Or am I being naive here.

well you obviously dont get politics then...first Bernie and trump are the most electable and winning and leading all head to heads and Bernie is beating Trump head to head. its Bernie that can rely on the constitution to overturn the congress as unconstitutional...someone has to have the balls to risk assassination and call a referendum vote to change the congressional system...he will do it..hes old and he dont care! The people will vote and it will get done...just slurping up the mindless fear mongering of the GOP will get you nowhere, you have to fight for it just as TOmmy Douglas did for medicare..he took death threats and his house was bricked with his kids inside but he didnt stop until the masses were on his side.....He's a national hero because he did that ....not because medicare was a no brainer in 1958! No one had even heard of social democracy at that time in North America! He saw the future and he made it happen......thats what Bernie appears willing to do...you will wait a long time for someone like that in anY country.

Have the abortion laws ever changed in Canada? LGBT rights have increased despite right wing asshats in power..they use these ridiculous campaign propaganda pieces to motivate the quack religious people to vote...they are 30% of the population and are usually easy to motivate...thats the ONLY reason these topics get discussed...period...when they get in power they allow LGBT rights and gay marriage etc,. because it matters not to their fiscal hegemony. Harper only said he was going to get "tough on crime" to win naive voters to his side...he promptly cut ALL public services so bad I almost lost my job,and many others did...many of the less intellectual of the law enforcement actually voted for him in good faith the got stabbed in the back....then there was landslide vote for a centrist like Trudeau against cutting services and the cycle continues, no one has sent any money to the public service to repair the damages yet....still waiting, but it will get done and we will go in debt to do it thanks to Harper and the self serving IDIOTS that voted for him, and yes that includes my former best friend and over half my some 30 friends on my track team that became engineers and worked in big oil as well...throw my sister in there also ...she makes $150k a year as a supply chain manager for oil in Colorado (I make half that as a caring therapist)...at least Harper screwed himself on her vote as he disallowed her to vote as a recent expat.. LGBT rights will perpetuate regardless of idiots like Trump , but maybe not Cruz or Rubio...I REPEAT, I admit I would rather vote for HIllary than those types!!!!! Trump said he wants health care for all poeple..if he actually does the math he may be crazy enough to slash into the insurance companies and big pharma. HIs bark is worse than his bite with the racists BS, he wont do anything to harm any races....building a wall is an absolute impossibility, he will be forced to realize the establishment needs more cheap labour to compete with China, Mexicans will still be "allowed" to enter illegally. THis won't change no matter who gets in to power! You should have followed Harper's reign more closely, he didnt keep ANY promises and ALL of his crime bill "revisions" were facades. THat's right, he actually didnt even change anything substantial at all just a bunch of useless stuff that COrrections was already doing just with different names on it ...lipstick on a pig and it cost the govenrment MORE to have to make useless changes which were all just propaganda bills posing to be tough on crime. For example he cancelled APR, accelerated parole review, which actually allowed corrections and the parole board to let obvious rehabs out earlier...and in so doing we were SAVING THE COUNTRY AND THE TAXPAYER MONEY. GUess what ? corrections still let out those that didnt need any more jail, just under different clauses, logic was allowed to prevail most of the time, its just that Harper raised tax for the poor, cancelled tax for the rich, slashed public service jobs, many of whom were scientists, including police and corrections, (and thereby increasing the freedom for criminals to do what they do) and took the savings and gave it to big oil to fund the fracking industry and to PROMOTE pipelines with propaganda ...I have a buddy that had a 70 average in university and became an accountant who together with his wife accountant make $650K as CFO 's for big oil....... the workers for fracking are mostly former inmates and get paid peanuts........look where that system got us....nowhere , the same as Hillary would...nothing will change unless someone wants to rock the boat. Bernie and Trump are the only chances for such. Those that are slaves of the system are speaking out...you middle class sweat shop tech workers may wish to as well. Absolutely no reason why you have to work 60 hour weeks...that;s insane..

Don't like Clinton much at all, but she handled that as well as she could have. She acknowledged it, offered to discuss it later, but didn't allow herself to get waylaid or pushed off her own stage as per Sanders (although, to be fair, the protester in this case acted more maturely and less childishly aggressive than the two Sanders faced, even if he still should have held his ground). Hard to see what she could or should have done differently really, calmly recognising the protest without compromising her authority.
