The games visuals have really grown on me. At first it was just the art style, but I am digging the filters and ambiance as well.
Love these two

It looks like either The One Reborn or one of those things that look like it but are smaller, just before that fight.I'm not sure I recognize this enemy... What is this?
Good, I fucking hated that guy. Took me forever to kill.It was a long an arduous battle

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to it. HP is cut in half. ;_;Good luck in the Cursed Pthumerian Defilment. Toughest bosses I've encountered in BB.

I just beat the Layer 2 boss of Cursed Pthumerian Defilement —I literally couldn't do it with only the 750 (base) + 15% using 2 hp runes. Had to resort to grinding more hp to beat the second boss. I tried darn it, I tried! Mad eit all the way through NG+ but still couldn't handle it.
They could at least have put the +15% hp rune before the dungeon, instead of in the root version of the final one. Who needs +15% hp after you're capable of making it through that nightmare ;-;.
Yeah once you realize that all you have to do is lure it into doing the sideways attack, keep your distance and wait a little for most of that attack animation to be over (to avoid triggering a combo attack) and then go in for 1 hit at a time you can actually beat it without being hit even once.I just beat the Layer 2 boss of Cursed Pthumerian Defilement —. Definitely the hardest battle in the game so far, making Ebrietas and Martyr Logarius in the main campaign look like a cakewalk. Having to beat this boss with your HP cut in half is just... But I didn't grind for him. I just kept at it until I worked out a good strategy. Essentially:
I used the Hunter's Axe, in its transformed form, and I mainly used R1 attacks. Only ONE hit at a time — this is critical, because if you hit R1 more than once, he'll catch you on the second swing animation. You need to be very mechanical and precise with your inputs. Just stay close enough to bait him into biting sideways, then step in for ONE hit to the head. Then fall back. It's a war of attrition, slowly wearing him down. If he raises his paw, quickstep sideways or backwards (just once) to dodge the fire wall. If he's snapping forward with fire sparking out of his mouth, quickstep back four or five times, then step forward and hit him in the head. If he roars, JUMP SIDEWAYS, because his pounce attack can kill in one hit. If he swells up to spew lava, stand near his hindquarters and charge R2 to weaken his legs; eventually you can stagger him, at which point I do another charged R2, then immediately retreat before he does an area-of-effect attack (often followed by a pounce in whatever direction he's facing when he stands up). He can also be staggered with like five or six consecutive hits to the head. Also, I only used vials at half HP. And he's resistant to fire and bolt and poison and arcane, so there's not much you can do other than fight him.
Even though it was maddening how close I'd come to beating him, only to be hit with the pounce attack, I immediately jumped back in for another try. He's so FUN! And finally beating him was incredibly satisfying. Although I dread to see what lies at the end of Layer 3...

If your HP was at 1500 (750 when cut in half), you're probably at a level where additional levels yield diminished returns for HP. So I don't think leveling will help much. It really is a boss battle where you just have to be sparse in your attacks and clean in your dodging. No way to cheese the Defiled Watchdog. Just maintain the mid-range, bait an attack, and punish it. And be ready to jump sideways the moment you see him roar, because he's going to pounce.I tried an awful lot of times. I didn't find it fun at all, honestly. Cutting your HP in half almost arbitrarily is infuriating horsepoop, not fun, in my opinion.
edit: To be clear, I wasn't specifically grinding. I played through NG+, so that I was at least enjoying the time I spent with bloodborne, and just used the echoes for more HP.
I just beat Defiled Amydala. Only took a few tries. I used the strategy I used in the main campaign, where I run behind him without locking on and touch the tip of his tail, causing him to jump and land facing the other way. As soon as he jumps, I turn around and charge my weapon's overhead strike. When he lands, I immediately hit him in the face. I then roll between his legs and touch his tail again to repeat the process.Yeah once you realize that all you have to do is lure it into doing the sideways attack, keep your distance and wait a little for most of that attack animation to be over (to avoid triggering a combo attack) and then go in for 1 hit at a time you can actually beat it without being hit even once.
Good luck with the final boss of that chalice though. You'll need it![]()
On another note, the art in Hemwick Charnel Lane is like Castlevania III's village level come to life in face-meltingly gorgeous 3D.

I keep saying that From should do a Castlevania game but I mean they did.
