BD Live will be nice going forward, as will the media improvements (BD/DVD picture quality, greater DiVx support), but I'm honestly most excited about the improvements to the web browser. I actually spend a good bit of time browsing the web () from my couch, and the more they can improve that, the happier I'll be.GAF
Maybe they'll even make it possible to see GAF spoiler tags with the PS3 browser.
Believe.
If it's that bad, at least you'll be able to turn it off.Leidenfrost said:I hope the mosquito noise filter isn't too overzealous. I hate it when these filters remove any and all film grain and make everything look processed and plastic and fake.
Pristine_Condition said:Now, if they added some sort of control link to your actual receiver so you could control volume, sound field, second speaker zone, ect. via Remote Play...that would be the ultimate. Hell, I'd buy a Sony receiver over the Onkyo I'm saving for, if it had that feature, no question. It would be a slam dunk.

rc213 said:In addition, you can now display subtitles when viewing DivX files.
How will this work?!?!?
Robert R1 said:Pay attention to the resume feature. Movies authored using BD-J (most of the newer ones and likely all future ones from major studio) will not allow for the resume feature.
Leidenfrost said:Thankfully more and more of those titles allow non-ephemeral bookmarking by the user.

So I can either directly talk to the pre/pro, or potentially create my own HTML document if the menuing sucks.
Shit, looks like I'm finally going to have to breakdown and get a PSP.

Man, that must be a badass pre-pro...
Are you the guy with the new Onkyo Pro from the HD Movie thread?

I mean, you don't need to turn on your tv if you have Remote Start enabled, so I can play all the media on my PS3 with my PSP just fine. I don't really think I follow.
No, you're reading it wrong. Your PSP has to be connected. There isn't a mention of remote play when talking about the copying of playlists.Pimpwerx said:Also, am I reading it right? Will be now be able to copy files from our PS3 to our PSP wirelessly? I always wondered why the "Copy" function didn't allow transfer of files to the PSP's memory stick. It currently only copies to and from the memory stick in the PS3. PEACE.

Maybe, maybe not. They might "simply" support the subtitles embedded in DMF .divx files, and in that case almost no one uses them as far as I know. I guess it's not too much of a problem to remux a simple avi file to a .divx one with subs though, even if their XSUB format is anything but standard...DMPrince said:same way it is handled on the pc when you view divx files?
Not Samsung players. The BDP-1200 wasn't able to play several new BD movies for MONTHS (including top Christmas titles like POTC3) and still has trouble playing new titles because its firmware sucks. Top-notch picture quality, but shit compatibility. This is largely because Samsung sucks and bites off more than their 2nd-tier engineers can chew.tanod said:Every Blu-Ray player can play any/every Blu-ray movie. No exceptions.
right. two seperate things. fat32 has a 4GB limit, not a 2GB one. the 2GB limit was divx specific as i remember too, i've played larger files in other formats on my PS3.Onix said:Isn't 2GB a limitation of FAT16, not FAT32? I think the limitation it had wasn't file system related.

Not sure, a friend of mine has it. Last I knew, there were still some newer titles that it can't play.shagg_187 said:What is the last available firmware upgrade?

I can tell by your sweet pre-pro you are rich... Loan plz? Anything you can spare (over $3500) is appreciated. Gift cards are cool, too.
Thanks! Your best buddy on the NeoGAF boards,

Just kidding.
I am not kidding. A small, (over $3500) loan (interest free) is all I need. I am 100% more reliable than a Nigerian banker.
· “Resume play” will enable PS3 to start playing a BD and DVD video at the point it was stopped, even if the disc had been removed.
· PS3’s Internet browser will be enhanced: Video files directly linked from a Web page will be able to be streamed, and the browser’s view speed will be improved.
· DivX and WMV format videos that are larger than 2GB will be playable.
