Boardwalk Empire - Season 3 - Sundays on HBO

I've noticed this season that whenever a character says 'How's that?' matter-of-factly, they're about to cause some shit to go down. I'm pretty sure it's happened in every single episode this season.

Why bother with a CG dick? Not like Cannavale had his lopped off.

Pretty lengthy discussion about dicks.

Pun not intended. But noted.

So they can get around the censor. They may be able to show dicks, but not erect dicks. They needed Gyp to have a semi-chubby since he was in the middle of playing choke my salami. Now they can say 'But it's not even real!'

Because her English is terrible and she knew how important it was that they not get caught. They've made this quite obvious.

What? No. The relationship is two things. It's Nucky doing what he did with Margaret, going after the girl in order to feel that he's necessary and loved. It's also a catalyst for other events since it distracts him and messes with his priorities.
.
I think her English was good enough + the guy's behavior to know he wasn't going to hurt Van Alden or whatever.
It's silly when they spent Van Alden scenes so far on showing how his life is getting worse, building up till he'll go to the mobster but then have that manslaughter happen out of the blue to make him go. It might as well happened in the first or second ep and sped up that storyline.

Ok, i agree about Nucky but these storylines are just plainly weak and uninteresting. Too much time. I don't remember them being a catalyst for anything other Margaret problems.

Jimmy or no Jimmy, this is the weakest season for me up until now.

Didn't realize he had any chub going on. That makes sense then.

Oh, come on, dude. You said this a few eps ago:

They way they are setting it up is so predictable and trite. Yes, yes how far has Van Alden fallen. Building frustration by-the-books. From federal agent to door-to-door salesman; was deprived of that bonus; his house in bad condition with the cracks in the ceilings making his financial reality harder; the guys at work pulling pranks on him (Are they using the same set as the Post officePolice station of AC from previous seasons?); getting arrested in a bar -- where he should be on the other side etc etc. We get it, it's strongly established. His new life is crappy so he'll soon enough call that mobster.

Now that it's not as predictable and trite as you said it is, it's "silly" that something else happens? They just wanted to show Van Alden's adjustment to his new life, where he's living in secrecy and uncomfortable being below people. I think it'd be pretty awkward if they used your idea and skipped 'life on the lam' and immediately went to 'life with gangsters'.

"Do you even begin to understand how weak that makes you look?"

So far his obsession has only explicitly affected things with Margaret, but there are definitely more consequences to come.

And I'd add a third thing: it shows us that Nucky is truly alone.

He doesn't look quite right with an entire face.

I don't know why he's doing an American accent here. If you see him in interviews he's brit.

Oh and the grandson of the director John Huston.

Everytime these guys mention backroads/Pine Barrens I expect something humorous to happen. That's one thing this show lacks in spades. Humour, which Sopranos had in droves. But still this is one of the best shows airing right now.

LOL. They should try taking the icy backroads and run into the Russian.

It would make no sense at all but get Van Alden and Al Capone lost in the Pine Barrens somehow. hahaha best episode of Boardwalk ever confirmed.

You're not gonna believe this. He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator!

His house looked like shit.

Still waiting for my Chrissie and Paulie spinoff.

For all we know, he could be out there stalking us.

With what? His cock?

Hahaha that stuff was all golden. But I also lost it when I saw Bobby Baccala wearing that god damn hunting outfit.

And then I felt bad for him after he talked to Tony :(

LOL yeah. The high-vis vest.

I love the episode where Chris and Paulie are at fucking war with each other because of the food bills and end up popping the maitre'd in the parking lot.

It's getting better this season: The phone conversation between Rothstein and Doyle, "Milky" and Purnsley visiting Cantor...both scenes were hilarious.

Also, being Italian, we're more prone to joking around and making people feel uncomfortable -- maybe not to the extent of Rosetti but still. His character is fucking great, very Sopranos-esque.

great episode

whoa that kid is supposed to be bugsy siegel? i havent been paying attention

A light bulb should of went off a soon as they introduced Meyer Lanksy to the show. Meyer and Bugsy are the ones who founded the infamous Murder Inc. hit squad. Bugsy's temper and rashness is another indicator.

Odds are pretty high, he doesn't need much of an excuse.

It's a sure thing. Dude murders people for correcting his grammar. I'm pretty sure that killing his men and attempting to pop him will trigger a harsher response.

In fact, the threat of Gyp might be what it takes to bring out Nucky's affection for Margaret again, since it's entirely possible she'll come under serious threat.

Margaret dies this season confirmed.

Yeah, if I were Nucky I'd be pretty fucking scared. Given what Rosetti has done in the past with no real provocation, there's no telling what the crazy bastard will do in response to an assassination attempt and the murder of his guys.

Does anyone think that Gyp might try to get his dog back from Margaret and the kids? Chekhov's dog? Maybe he kills Margaret and/or one of the kids leaving Nucky to take care of the remaining kid?

Holy shit, Margaret is for sure going to die.

I never really thought of this before.

That would be a positive contribution to the show, on the Gyp's character part, so no, not gonna happen.

I actually really like Margaret too, but I think she might die. At this point she's about as relevant to the plot as Angela was.

At least Angela contributed to Richard's character. At this point, they've had to create new characters just so Margaret has something to do on the show. I don't dislike her as much as people on here seem to, though. After last season, this new arc of hers seems good and watchable.

I'm sure there are a lot of women viewers out there, in particular, that have appreciated Schroeder's arc this season. Not saying that you have to like it or anything, but as a male with working parts and an appetite for mob warfare, I've mostly enjoyed seeing her fight the establishment.

Her tension/relationship with the doctor*, though, isn't working.

*can't remember his name
