Bob's game Kickstarter

I figured he had accepted his shame and went to work at a bank or something,

But seriously, even though he sounds borderline insane, gotta respect this guy for chasing his dream and never giving up

If this gets funded, he'll continue doing this for a year, then say that the project is still not where he wants it to be while lauding it as already the best thing mankind has ever created and scratches the whole thing for another 4 years.

This has always been an interesting sideshow to watch, but please don't support this guy via Kickstarter. He will never release this game, and even if he did it wouldn't turn out to be anything amazing.

fwiw, I've met/dealt with many mentally unstable people who are ridiculously stubborn. It's not a matter of respect, it's a matter of them literally being unable to let go of something.
 
He was so emphatic that this game was impressive because HE had made it, all by himself. On its website the game's full name was "bob's game: a game made by one person."

Taking it to kickstarter kind of reduces that...

Not quite, he never said he wants someone else to work on it. If you read the KS tiers, its clear he only wants us to pay for his living expenses. KS audience paying for his van or even apartment.

Yeah, Bob living the dream. Getting others to pay for his living expenses in return for him talking shit.

Man I'd love a bob's burgers game. I remember there was this game at my elementary school where you would run a hot dog stand. You had to hire people, buy the ingredients and pick the baseball games that you went to based on weather and team popularity to make as much profit as you could. I loved that.

AS much as I want this game to be released, I really doubt the guy can complete the game when it already took him like 10 years of crazy developmement goals and the result was a DS homebrew demo.
 
I remember this guy... that story was just insane.

I read part of the Kickstarter, wow he got a job offer from Nintendo and turned it down to continue obsessing over this project. I'd have just taken that job if I were him. Good luck to him on the Kickstarter
 
Hahahah, oh man. I remember this from years ago, but never saw that fucking trailer. Trailer was clearly insane but surprisingly entertaining.

Gah, I remember when this was first announced. It seemed like a novel idea...then Bob flipped out and went nuts.

Not sure how I feel about this. I hope the guy finally achieves his dream, but I'm not helping fund it.
 
I first lost all sympathy for the guy when he claimed his low quality CG mockup of a handheld was the equivalent of creating a handheld games system, that was a long time ago.

I've lost sympathy for him many times over since then.


Dude has actual mania issues. Whether he actually has breaks from reality or he's faking the rest of it, I have no idea.

I'm more in the "I'd pay a few dollars to see his dreams crushed and force him to work from the ground up" camp.
 
I remember this from back in the day. I was pulling for him then. His game was completely done and seemed interesting. The whole indie movement hadn't completely caught on fire at the time.

Years later and he could probably put the game out on his own fairly easily, but looking at it now the whole thing is crazy. Did anyone even watch the kickstarter video? Holy crap, it made no sense and told me absolutely nothing about the actual game. Then reading into further details, you learn that he has a couple of screws loose.

I don't want to wish anyone failure, but this guy needs help. If his kickstarter succeeds, I fear that his problems are only going to get worse. He plans to finish development in a van?

You're allowed to be something of an asshole if you're actually talented and can get things done. Bob's just blowing hot air. I'm shocked the pledges are even nearing $1000 as this might actually get funded. Some people never learn.
 
Has he mentioned hallucinations, too? There is some mild paranoid schizophrenia going on here, not full blown since his writing is still understandable despite the persecution complex. Seriously think he needs to see a psychiatrist, forget the game and get a life back first.
 
Ironically he could probably get into Nintendo's Wii U program and release the game no sweat. In some sense Bob has realized his dream of a Nintendo more open to indies.

Yeah, I really think that would be for the best too. Guy clearly needs some form of help, not funding to enable him.
