Mads Mikkelson has to be the most overrated motherfucker on this board.

He now gives a B-grade performance of an A-grade villain in a C-grade TV series.

Dude played a decent B-tier villain in a great Bond movie. He now gives a B-grade performance of an A-grade villain in a C-grade TV series. His appraisal is what I call the Firefly effect, which explains people's affinity for Nathan Fillion as an actor. Okay, maybe mentioning Mads and Fillion in the same sentence is a bit harsh, but you get what I mean.

This is the stupidest thing you've ever written.

that's due to the writing moreso than anything. if bardem had a better script he would have wiped the floor with le chiffre.

Says more about the quality of villains he's had in his films.

I just really like Mads Mikkelsen as an actor. And yeah I agree, if Bardem had a better script, he would have been so much better. But I also think, Mads did a tremendous job in his role as Le Chiffre.

Mads was great in Casino, there just wasn't much to his character.

Sculli's Hannibal trolling would be more effective if it weren't for that criticize-what-he-clearly-didn't-watch snafu last year :p

I guess this is our production thread?

Jesper Christensen have now finished his part of Spectre, and have given an interview with the Danish media BT.
He thinks his scene were really great (seems like he'll only have one scene in the movie) and he really likes Sam Mendes, because his a director who listens and changes if the actors have something good to add.
He adds that the whole team are extremely paranoid about the script leaking out, especially after the whole Sony-gate.
MI6-HQ.com adds, that he might have filmed his scene at the Pinewood Studios in the UK.

In other news, Marc Zinga has been cast to play alongside Christoph Waltz as one of Bond's adversaries.

And why is GAF not talking more about Spectre? Are we seriously not hyped for this one?

People are hyped, but there's really not much to go on right now.

The leaked script also pissed off a huuuge amount of fans.

I haven't read the leaked script. I'm staying away from that one, but I did see the bad reactions yeah. Don't remind me of that haha.

It was enough to reduce my hype to near zero. That's how bad it is.

It'll take some work to build that hype back up.

I'm just really hyped for another Bond movie. So sad to read these reactions to the script. Hopefully they can change it for the better. =(

Also, where is Solo and why is he not in this thread?

I can't say I was overtly excited for another Mendes directed Bond film and even less so after reading the plot points from the leak. So I got no real hype for this outside the cinematography which I'm guessing will be fantastic and I'm interested in another Bond being shot on film.

I'm also no fan of Sam Mendes to be honest. Because I didn't like Skyfall that much. It was so much worse the Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. But it's Bond, it's an event, and I'm looking forward to it. It'll probably disappoint but oh well.

I'm not hyped for it because I thought Skyfall was kinda awful. Mendes might do better this time but my expectations are very low. I feel Craig has stayed on long enough, time to move on. One good film out of four and still striving for the best Bond film, doesn't look like their heading in a good direction, more like the worst parts of the past in a modern shine rather than trying to do something better.

nope, not with that hack mendes at the helm

skyfall's the worst bond flick i've seen since a view to a kill

I wouldn't say that, personally. I think Skyfall is absolutely great right up until they take Silva back to London. Then it all goes to shit. A View To a Kill is just terrible throughout. And then you have Die Another Day.

I soooo hope they improved that sloppy third act revealed in the Sony hack. I refuse to get hyped otherwise.

War Peaceman

You're a big guy.
Skyfall was a mess of a film, but Mendes is as far from a hack as you can get. He is/was a very skilled theatre director in addition to his excellent film work.

Also, this is a Bond film.

the real directors are Barbara Brocolli and Michael G Wilson.

There is no exception. Skyfall turned out the way it did because BB and MGW wanted it to be that way.

Absolutely. They run the show - that is why the production process is so efficient. Directors/DoPs get input within the boundaries they establish in the same way that the Marvel people control the production process over there.

That says absolutely nothing.

The villains have been trash.
I liked the villains in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, because they were more grounded villains than in the past.

I also agree with those saying that Skyfall weren't a good film and those having smaller expectations for Spectre.

I'm not too fond of Spectre and Blofeld coming back right now and I really don't like that Mendes is directing another one. But Bond is Bond.

I dunno. These main villains are just as grounded and realistic as Le Chiffre and Greene:

- Franz Sanchez, Licence to Kill. Drug Baron. Motivated by money and loyalty.
- Koskov, Living Daylights. Traitor Russian General/Arms Dealer. Motivated by money.
- General Orlov, Octopussy. Motivated by USSR advancement in Europe.
- Kristatos, For Your Eyes Only. Motivated by money, goal is to sell the ATAC device to the highest bidder.

That's just a small example. Of course, you have the crazy ass villains like Drax, Blofeld and Stromberg who everyone remembers more than the more grounded villains.

Blofeld might not be bald in this movie. He wasn't originally written that way. The Donald Pleasance/Telly Savalas version of Blofeld that people are familiar with isn't very much like the version of the character that first shows up in Thunderball.

He also wasn't bald in Diamonds are Forever. He was bald again in the funny pre credit sequence in For Your Eyes Only though.

If that's your sum knowledge of his film performances, you're missing out on some great foreign movies.

My excitement was definitely tempered by the spoilers in the Sony leaks. If they "fixed" the issues with that script I'll be more interested.

Also until the first trailer is released, then my hype will be through the roof seeing it come together.

First shots of Bautista and Lea Seydoux

"When I came over to meet Sam [Mendes], I only asked two questions," says the erstwhile Galaxy Guardian. "I asked him if Mr. Hinx was a badass. He said, 'Yes, he's a badass.' I said, 'Well, is Mr. Hinx intelligent?' He said, 'Very.' That's what I like about Mr. Hinx. He's very well-dressed and very well-mannered. I'm not just here to fight people. He has a sense of humour. He definitely knows what a metaphor is."

Also on the on the intellectual side of things, Dr. Madeleine Swann is brainier than your average Bond girl. "I don't consider myself a Bond girl," says Seydoux. "I think I'm not really the stereotyped Bond girl. I feel quite different. You can't be like, 'Oh, James.' You have to find something else. She's not a fighter, she's a doctor," she adds. "She fights in another way."
