I want Walt Jr. to find out about Walt and be completely cool with it. Because if I found out my dad was a drug kingpin when I was 16 I would have thought that shit was awesome.

Is this something Gilligan has directly said or are you sure they didn't just use it as an innocent thing as if Walter the scientist would know how much he would need to not fatally kill him. I think the better example here is Walt sending that old lady into his house or blowing up a nursing home.

No, it's simply the facts about what Lily of the Valley actually does. There's no way to accurately predict 100% of the time whether someone will die from it when you're using it as a poison. Firstly, because fatal dosages vary wildly with Lily of the Valley. And two, because some people are allergic to it, and there's no way Walt could have known that as well.

In either case, no court of law would be like 'oh ok as long as Walt was trying not to kill Brock.' In court it's attempted murder and if Brock died, murder proper. As smart as Walt is, he knew the risks. What this says is he consciously decided to take those risks anyway

I hope the random never ending thunderstorm in Austin finishes so I can watch (have a dish).

I'm going to have to bail out soon. We decided to switch cable providers to Dish but I'm not a dish subscriber officially right now which means I can't sign up for the show premiere. This fucking sucks. Oh well I'll catch the rerun at someone else's house. Fuck cable providers seriously.

I'll admit that Walt 'cares' about his family and about Jesse in some fashion.

But god help me if anyone ever cares about me like that. It's a dysfunctional, possessive, manipulative kind of caring.
If Walt was my dad, I'd totally take his money and act all cool around what he does. As long as I get my PlayStations, I'd play my part

Dang dude, DISH is an asshole lately. :(

If you're trying to get me to say Jesse hasn't done morally reprehensible things, I won't. I think he has clearly become a bad person as well. But no, there is no comparison. What Jesse did was awful, true fact. Letting someone die in front of you when you can prevent it is factually worse.

Seriously. Cold as ice. Although it is hard to explain it was somehow worse than Walt straight up murdering her (which was the original plan).

We have Comcast, Dish and DirecTV where I'm at and I was thinking about switching to one of the dish providers, but apparently the prices equally suck after the intro packages expire. At least i don't lose cable when it rains anymore though.

And I was so pumped about finally getting some HD AMC, and then it hit me all of a sudden that Dish wasn't carrying AMC anymore.

I mean technically he did. It's like accidentally pushing someone off a cliff and then walking away and not helping them climb back up. I'm not actually sure if that would constitute as murder under a court of law though.

Fuck, I thought this was at nine. What am I going to do for the next 90 minutes.

Anyways, hopefully it doesn't suck. BB is pretty much the only thing to watch right now.

Gunna go make a food run before the show... Gunna need some funyuns... lots of funyuns.

God dammit stop raining. :(

At least I'm not on the first floor. Those apartments are flooding.

Freaks me out every time.

i dont even have cable and i signed up for the stream man.

yeah but walt is gonna explode jesse's wheelchair (I figure he'll somehow end up in one). THINK ABOTIUT.

Maybe Mike will turn up in a wheelchair like Hank, since he got shot the last time we saw him. Then Walt will cripple Jesse, re-cripple Hank and blow them all up in succession.
It'll eliminate all of his problems.

Almost every action Walt has done has not been for some 'greater good', so if we went down this road, it's going to be you denying it, and me laughing a lot. A lot has been in self-defense, sure, but that does not make those actions morally right. Because he wouldn't be in the scenario where he needed to protect himself if he did not go down this horrible road. He had the chance to leave this world over and over and over again. HE made those choices to stay and continually up the ante. You cannot make a screed about personal responsibility over taking drugs and then not realize the irony in trying to absolve responsibility for the near endless horrific morally reprehensible sins Walt has committed.

Also, it's only a complete accident that Brock did not die. The thing Walt poisoned him with is extremely dangerous and it's completely unknown how little or how much can kill someone; Walt was making a gamble.

What Walt did in that action is only show he's no better than Gus. It shows that were he in the position Gus was, eventually he would become just as bad.

In any event, you clearly have a very different moral code than I do, so I'm not sure we can unveil any greater insight that I haven't already posted in this top or Season 4 topic if you're interested.

First off, I don't think a short back and forth about our feelings on what motivates a TV show character is enough to assert what either of our moral codes may or may not entail. Second, I said the argument could be made for the greater good, not that anything he did necessarily served it. Still, is it not possible for someone to believe they're doing the right thing when, in reality, they're clearly not? In those situations standing four steps back and attempting to paint a broad picture in black white is pointless. You've still haven't demonstrated an event where Walt was abjectly malicious.

Hey um, I love this series but I don't have a way to see it, would I get in trouble if I place fake info on the live streaming amc site (for dish users)?

Edit: just read they don't verify nothing. Here we goooo.

just stream it online from AMC
http://www.amctv.com/breakingbad4dish/

They don't verify if you're a DISH customer.

Oh wow, I get to join in on the fun tonight. Fuck off Dish

I don't see what they could possibly do. This kind of seems like free advertising for them.

I've had a boner. And I'm pretty sure the only cure is for breaking bad to be inside, outside, and all around me.

As for a question that has probably been asked numerous times, but because GAF is a loving community (right?), why did the creator decide to cease at five seasons? And why are they splitting season 5 into two parts (with a year between) rather than call it s5 and s6?

TIA

He felt the story is coming to a conclusion and he didn't want to run it into the ground.

It's a financial decision from AMC. The contract issues are easier to resolve if it's only one more season rather than two.
