It wasn't rape, but Skylar definitely didn't want to have anything to do with him. She's just way too scared to refuse him now. Actually I think that might fall under the category of rape. Walt has turned so fast, and while he's a fascinating character to watch I certainly don't root for him making it through this. That scene with Jesse was sickening.

Mike took a half measure in this episode. It will surely bite them all in the ass sometime soon.

Is there any legit reason why Mike is working with Jesse besides all of his money being gone? I would think Mike and Gus would be smart enough not to hide their money in accounts that could be connected to either of them so the whole grandaughter thing strikes me as odd.

It wasn't really a half measure if he would have killed her it would of been bad for everyone. Another person dies that is on the board from Madrigal. Plus two people on the list from the DEA.

Either way it was Full Measure

Killing Her= DEA on his ass immediately which would result in all 3 of them having troubles

Saving Her= Push them to go back to cooking again and putting them back on the grid for the DEA

Either way you cut it Mike is no longer at that "half measure" line anymore.....too far in now.

Great fucking episode. So much going on here. We knew that Gus's overseas accounts would haunt everyone somehow, but I was surprised it happened so quickly. Walt's speech at the end was perfect because it also summarized Mike's reason for going into business with them.

Like some other people in the thread, I also got the rape vibe during that ending scene. Not that he was intentionally going to rape her, but he was going to have sex with her whether she wanted to or not. He's so delusional at this point he doesn't seem to even understand how creeped out she is by him.

I feel dumb for not getting this

My prediction for the end of the season cliff hanger: Hank finally ties it to Walt but since Walt paid for all of Hank's medical bills, Walt says that if he goes down, Hank will go down too and Hank has to ponder about trying to help hide Walt's tracks or possibly work for Walt as a DEA insider.

This is the last season.

But I see this.

I don't see that but possibly. All I can guess is something bad happens to Walt's family especially Skyler.

Great episode. Banks' Emmy submission here. Portrays gruff and sharp yet sentimental so well. Brilliant.

Walt already came close to raping Sky in season 1 or 2 (forget which). While she said "no" and stuff he pushed her into the fridge and started having sex, then was forced away. He's become even more evil since. so it's not as much of a stretch as you're saying it is

Oh god, Paul vs Esposito this year, Paul vs Banks next year.

I think it's funny that just about everyone involved with Gus never says two words unless it's absolutely necessary, but this woman meets Mike at a coffee shop and won't shut up.

What a liability.

Great episode. Seeing Mike dealing with the fallout from all angles was really well done.

And the cinematography in this show continues to be stellar. Mike "Sam Fisherin'" it up looked amazing.

Walt wouldn't give Hank time to ponder. I can't see that happening.

And how would Hank's involvement play out in the legal system? He thought the money was from counting cards or something, IIRC?

Fuuuuu. Hank realizing Walt may not be who he has always known?
Nah. We can assume they're exaggerating Hank's reaction for suspense (gasp! does he know??), but also planting a seed for the audience so that we see him becoming more suspicious.

When Jesse started crying I thought it was because he realized that Walt was manipulating the situation. I thought he had realized that its such a strange coincidence that Walt shows up and poof the cigarette magically appears. I expected Jesse to flip out and turn on him.

Jesse isn't nearly that smart, lol.

Fantastic episode, certainly laying the ground work for things to come.

One thing that was mentioned with the premiere and something I've appreciated which certainly hearkens back to Season 1 is how every detail no matter how big and small is focused upon before moving to the next plot point.

Gus was such an important figure within the series for a variety of reasons and for his death to simply be swept under the rug as Walt and company progress with little or no fallout would ring hallow. So I'm glad the first few episodes are demonstrating the repercussions of Walt's actions and the path that it will ultimately lead to.

Can't wait to see what occurs next.

The episode moved rather slowly to me.

Also I didn't exactly perceive her at first, but I thought that Lidia seemed familiar. Then I realized that it was her, Cat from Lip Service -- her real name is Laura Fraser. I bet no one has seen that show. :p

Possible spoiler for Lip Service.
I'm guessing that Breaking Bad interrupted her previous schedule, which is maybe why she left that show?

Episode 2 promo discussion that spoiled me into thinking Gretchen was returning and somehow involved with Mike (I didn't watch the video - accidentally read the posts):

I don't know if you guys talked about this yet, but GRETCHEN is back! Why is she talking to Mike and why does she know about Gus?

Interesting! I guess there's more to
Gretchen
than meets the eye.
Pretty funny posts in retrospect, but I spent the entire episode waiting for Gretchen to show up.

And this is why I don't want anything to do with the promos.

Excellent catch by Game-Biz (only just read now):

Concerning the ep 2 promo:

I just took a look at the woman who is a presumably his daughter outside the house door in s3 e13. The lady Mike is talking to in the promo is not her (or Gretchen). The woman looks more like the brunette haired lady who works for Madrigal sitting in the board room at 4 second mark (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6e9vLy4fjM ) in the upper left hand corner.

In the podcast they talk about this and actually that scene was cut for time and the longer scene was apparently even more disturbing. Skylar didn't want sex and so in the original cut she makes a move first and gives Walt a hand job before he can force himself on her.

Wow, Walt was fucking creepy in that last scene. His transformation from ordinary high school teacher to this is just insane.

Good episode last night. Two minor things thought;

- Is it me, or has the size of Aaron Paul's head increased exponentially since last season?

- I don't like the fact that Saul is uncomfortable and not himself. I miss snake in the grass, arrogant Saul.

That look Hank had when his boss gave the "right under my nose" speech basically confirmed to me that he's suspected Walt for a while now but is in denial about it.

Being scared by a meth-lord can do that to you.

It's the most exciting part of the show! It's TV magic! I've been charting the inflation of his head and can tell you that it's not the new haircut or camera angles: his head is expanding in proportion to the rest of him. I think it's the Emmy win.

And I agree with you on Saul.

Fucking wow.

Everything about this episode was turned to 11.

Walt is a full blown, malevolent puppet master

Jesse's a marionette.

Skyler's is a prisoner in her own skin

Hank is on a roll

And MIKE

Awesome ep. Much better paced than the first.

Loved the focus on Mike. The scene with Walt and Jesse searching the house was cool too, reminded me of S1 with the music and editing style.

Fantastic episode. One of the most beautiful shot episodes. It looked fantastic.

Watched every early promo, trailers and what not. Everything in there has been in the first 2 episodes already. I have no idea where this will go now. Awesome.

Oh wow, on the insider podcast they're saying in the original edit of the final scene Skyler reaches behind her to give Walt a hand job to pre-emptively stop him having sex with her, but they had to cut it to get the runtime down. Could make it to the dvd though. So fucking creepy

the money gus put aside to keep people from talking is gone. by getting the money back he can keep people quiet without killing them.

personally i would have killed the woman, her nerves are shot and shes a mess making her a huge liability.

I'm enjoying this season but it desperately needs more Jesse. He's had what, 6 minutes of quality screentime in the first two episodes?

Great episode, ending was so creepy!!! I hate having to wait one week between episodes, lol. :( I had the luxury of watching S1-3 within 2 weeks.
