This doesn't hurt MS's holiday plans that much: they'll still sell more software and hardware than Sony. What this means is that more people will buy GTA on the PS3; in April the PS3's userbase will be larger. Mix that with the price cut and they'll be in a good position. So it's a long term blow.

I agree. It's going to look a whole lot better if the 360 version only outsells the PS3 version 2:1 (or less) than 4:1 as it probably would have if it were released this Fall. A price drop and expanded user base will bring third-party sales more in parity with the 360 by next Spring.

Can't say I'm suprised by the delay, every impression I've heard from people that have seen a demonstration of it all pretty much sound like GTA4 = meh..

This hurts MS some, and gives PS3 a bit of a boost. For the most part though Halo 3 will move consoles by itself for MS, but come next year those who haven't bought a next-gen system yet, MS may lose some sales to PS3 on that.

MS has a bunch of games for the holiday, delaying GTA is a dummer but its still going to be a very big holiday for them, much more so than Sony which could have been helped by a game like this.

Wow. I think this is a lesson in not announcing a specific release date for a title this large and ambitious a full year and a half in advance. This is one of the most significant delays in years - analysts were projecting industry growth partly on the release of this game alone.

man a lot of bad news the last few days... GTA IV, Lair and some other high profile game was recently delayed as well wasn't.Amazing how they've still not learned to make deadlines. Movies seems to be able to meet their deadlines.
