DoA5 is actually so good regardless of what you think about the character models and stuff

seriously, i was impressed by it

First off. She definitely could be 12. I do a community reading class with kids. I know what a 12 year old can look like.

Secondly, You knew very well the sentiment that poster was portraying. That he was surprised at how the girl looks really young. Why does it matter to you if he was not completely accurate especially when he was close and wasn't trying to be accurate in the first place? You see, it's a mind bottling thing for a normal person to see a female character portrayed at such a young age and dressed as she is in a game that is all about objectifying the women in it on a very sexual level.

I'll forgive him for not being spot on.

You judge age based on breast size? The body frame could be any age, specially when considering the body types of the population where the game was made, and the face looks nothing like a 14 year old considering it couldn't look further from someone that young or even reality for that matter. Her look facial-wise is not very different from Honoka.

The fighting on DOA always seemed odd looking to me, the way only certain parts collide during the animation gives the impression that there's nothing interacting between the models.

You two are missing something: I was genuinely surprised at the several replies saying that character looked like 10, nothing more than that. I just chose to reply to the first post I read expressing that.

As a matter of fact I'm a HS teacher, I know kids that look older than me and some that look like children in their first year there. Heck, my first couple of years at that job were filled with tons of misunderstandings since several people thought I was a student too.

It actually is. Character balance is whack, but the gameplay itself is fun, fast, fluid, and there are many interesting movesets in the game. It's also very easy to learn, I wonder why it's not more popular.

We are cool man. I hope you understand I just wanted to be sure. It's just that since this is a public forum I thinks it's important to be very clear and leave no doubt that stuff like this not ok. It shouldn't be encouraged and it should be looked down on at every opportunity IMO. Specifically talking about the sexualized portrayal of very young women (or even men) in a game that is literally designed to be about the sexual objectification and exploitation of them.

I don't want to give anyone that might be on the edge of a bad path the push they need to walk that direction. Rather, the opposite.

From an animation perspective it's really bad actually. That kick genuinely makes no sense especially since she extends her leg outwards at the end. She's genuinely an amalgamation of ripped animations from other characters.
It looks like she extends it right as she starts teh last spin, but for some reason it last like 3 frames and then the end of the animation with the leg extended last like a million frames. IIRC Ayane has that same kick but since she is a ninja it is justified, ninjas can disregard physics rules. :P

I mean the animation looks on par with every other animation in that game, no build up, but just show and then they hang the animation for a while after the hit.

Personally:

The generally bland character designs--particularly faces--hurt it somewhat I think. The sleaze from how uncomfortable and unnecessarily sexual it can be is also a turn-off.

I liked the series a lot more when the rendering did not seem so outdated and the cheesecake was a tad bit more restrained. So DoA 3?

As an aside, Marie Rose and Honoka actively creep me the fuck out.

Honoka really just strikes me as the more boring, cynically designed character. Like, one of the attributes that's supposed to distinguish her from the other character is that she has big breasts, but she's already a DOA character.

Yeah but she has the biggest breasts

That makes her the King of DoA

I have been meaning to break open my copy of DOA5:LR on PS4.

I've already played through the DOA5 PS3 version, dabbled in the Vita version (its not bad but there's not enough modes).

At least with LR - I'll go through and try to unlock all the costumes.

Bruh, I remember the first PS2 game I was exposed to was DOA2 Hardcore when I was like 5 or so. Previously, the only game I was really exposed to was Super Mario World, so coming off of that straight to this blew my FUCKING MIND.

Please tell me that Honoka from DOA5 was not influenced by Love Live's Kousaka Honoka...

Honestly, this has been the best 3D fighter since Virtua Fighter 5 for me. I still play it, I still love it.

Simple, intuitive gameplay, great presentation, a lot of characters. I still find the visuals very impressive for a fighting game. Loadings are pretty much instant too. Very impressive stuff.

Sure, there are a lot of swim-suits and stuff like that as DLC, but there are also some DLC that are pretty awesome, like the Deception one. They are WAY too expensive however.

And Honoka is a pretty great character, very fun to play. Even Marie-Rose has a pretty interesting fighting style. Those two add to the roster. Which is not the case of some other characters that feel redundant/useless. Also, Mai from KOF is in the game, as well as Akira, Jacky, Sarah and Pai from VF. Pretty awesome.

DOA5LR is an excellent fighter and my favorite fighting game until Bamco get their shit together with the Soul Calibur series. I've bought it four times on different systems and spent a bajillion on DLC. I'm probably part of the reason TN keeps raking in so much cash from their DOA5 and DOAX3 DLC, and also the reason they don't wanna move on to DOA6 -_-".

It's so addicting to play and I love playing around with outfits and mods in both PC and console versions of the game. I hope DOA6 has the legs of DOA5LR, it's one of the longest fighting games I've stuck with (it's approaching 5 years now). My only complaint with the game is that the DLC is pricey and hasn't been kind to my wallet over the years :(.

I've never been a fan of characters who's only moveset is cribbed directly from other players, since I feel like it makes that character harder to learn. Shang Tsung is not part of this rule, since you have to turn into the character to use their moves and this helps you know what you are doing. Still, if Honoka and Marie Rose have to be the new mascots of DOA, then I'll infinitely prefer Honoka over the to-catch-a-predator-decoy that is Marie Rose.

Also, Honoka is far more interesting in DOAX 3

...and let's just say that this one may be a bit NSFW, so I'll leave it linked.

*gulps* damn...

But i still disagree, Mila and Ayane ftw.

For me Helena and Leifang are still the two fighters with the most appealing fighting styles, as you can make it look like a freaking dance with one move flowing seamlessly into the next.

I'm partial to Leon though.

Maybe I'm desensitized to anime, but the picture of this character on the beach looks like she's 18. She looks like any other gravure model I've seen.

The little girl though needs to be de-sexualized.

I've just played some DOA again and man, it's much better than i remembered it. Enjoying it much more than Tekken now.

Now i just want 'em to announce DOA6 with some awesome customization options.

One of the worst characters ever created. It's so clear why she was made it feels like it comes form a porn game.

And I actualy love DOA5, it's a friggin great game, but fuck Honoka and Marie, one thing is having sexy characters and other walking otaku pervs fanservice.

They represent what fucking shit DOA5 image has become now, just compare Mila to Honoka.
