I disliked Kennedy for acting like she was better than Buffy :p

I shipped Spike/Buffy. Season six was so much fun! >.< Of course, I was a Spike fan, and shipped them just cause Spike did, but still. So much hate in that fandom around that time heh. I also loved Angel, which made things awkward, since apparently it was either Spike or Angel, you couldn't like both.

Spike and Angel had an awesome dynamic. Spike is the better vampire with a soul though seeing as he chose to get his soul back.

I loved both shows, but Buffy will always have a special place in my heart. Season 2, 3, and 5 were incredible.

I recently revisited both shows when I watched them with my girlfriend. Her favorite character was Spike, right up until that scene in season 6.

I'm no fan of the guy or his terrible character but Willow >>>> Buffy. Buffy post S3 was almost the worst part of Buffy. I'm talking looks and character :P

Then again seeing people say amazing things about Buffy S6... I guess we just don't agree. Evil Willow fatality'ing Warren was by far the best part. Too bad she didn't get the other two annoying nerdy kids.

They all had their flaws, yeah. I think Willow would be my favorite out of the core Scoobies too. Out of everyone else, Anya and Spike were my favorite :p I love rooting for the underdogs.

Anya and Spike were two of the best main cast members. I was always annoyed at how she was with Xander. Talk about low standards.

just thought of this gem

Team Free Will! Wait, wrong show. :p Yep, I agree.

Xander...he had so much potential. I guess he finally grew up in Season Seven, but maybe it was too little too late? I loved him until season five when he basically became a bully. The way he treated Anya in six though pretty much sealed it for me. :(

Smile Time is amazing

Angel season 5 is the greatest season because of Spike.

Its criminal that "Ripper" the Giles spin off never happened.

This quote from 2012 gives me hope

Joss Whedon said:
No, the thing about Ripper—the essence of it—is that the BBC came to me at one point like, 'It doesn't have to be Ripper. It can just be [Anthony Stewart Head], and there's magic, and he's Tony, cuz he's awesome.' And that's the thing: For some reason, he keeps getting sexier every year. That's not happening to me! I'm like, 'What are you doing?' And that story was always about a mature guy who's lived, and about the choices he's made. So you could make that now, or you could make it 10 years from now. And I've tortured Tony more than any other living human with, 'We're definitely gonna do this!' Because I thought we were. He's working so much, though, I'd feel too guilty. But that's the thing with Ripper: It doesn't go away in my head because he's still right for it, and he could still bring it.

Spike>Angel every time. I do like them both, but i also ship Buffy/Spike and Xander/Faith.

Can we all agree Kennedy is the worst character ever?

Favorites are Buffy, Angel, Cordelia, and Giles. The others, well, they all have various amounts of times in which I hated them.

I dunno why season 4 of Angel gets so much flak. Sure, the Conner/Cordy thing was lame, but it has tons of strong episodes and villains.

I recently re-watched Smile Time, just to show my g/f Angel as a puppet. Such an awesome episode. Hilarious and sweet. It is then followed by another awesome episode, but the exact opposite in every way. Heart breaking.

Kind of sucked that they killed Wesley in the final episode. He really grew from the inept klutz he started off as in Buffy.

Why haven't we done this yet?

Obligatory:

Buffy: 3>2>5>6>4>7>1

Angel: 5>3>2>1>4

Also, this thread needs more Lorne love. Someone who know how to post gifs and shit, get on that. Please.

I'd have season 7 ahead of 4, but agree on just about everything else.

Smile Time was my favorite moment of television EVER.

It has EVERYTHING

With things like this and Lorne's dimension that makes me feel that Angel was better overall than buffy. Had Darker moments and was Goofyer than Buffy overall.

Season 6 at the top? It only has two good episodes: Once More, With Feeling and Tabula Rasa.
I thought most of the season was good. I especially loved the overall feeling of it but then I enjoy darker, more depressing stories than most. Also no love for "Normal Again"? Possibly my favorite episode in the series.

My two favorite shows! I watched Buffy really non-stop throughout high school and early college years. I don't watch them nearly as much, but I still have their DVD collections on display next besides my main TV.

I always enjoyed Angel more than Buffy because of its dark and serious tone. I love Buffy with all of my heart, but Angel's peak surpassed Buffy's peak. Plus, the whole Fred X Wesley arc in season five. I really wish Whedon didn't get all egotistical and ruin the chances of a sixth season. Illyria had so much bloody potential.

Buffy was a show built for commenting on/being allegory for High School. It's not a surprise that once she left High School, the show dipped in overall quality. Yes, individual episodes still hit heights the show regularly hit in Seasons 2 and 3, but for the most part, Seasons 4, 5, 6, and 7 were way more inconsistent and problematic.

Angel was easily the better show, even when Season 4 proved to be almost entirely skippable.

That's true, but it would have sucked more if Angel was going to get cancelled anyway, but Joss didn't know until it was too late. It was rushed, but at least the second half of season 5 led to reasonable ending for the series.

Did anyone else love Andrew as much as I did?

I liked his "storyteller" voice, particularly the way he said vam-PIRE. I like how they continued that in his appearances on Angel.

Season five was my favorite season of Buffy. I would have been perfectly happy if Whedon ended the show on that note. Glory was a true threat to Buffy. Man, I remember the last few episodes of that season. Sooooo gooood.

I think 3 was probably his best exit point, but after that, I do agree that 5 would have been a great way to go out.

Fact: The Fred/Wes relationship was way more engaging than any of the romances focused on Buffy or Angel.

Am I alone in thinking Anya is overrated? She was always a poor man's Cordelia IMO, except without Cordelia's character development. The biggest issue I had with Anya is that even by the end, she never really felt like part of the group. Yeah she had some funny lines but meh. Of course I'm of the opinion that S1-3 cast of Buffy was significantly better than S4 onwards.

As for Buffy being the most "self-centered bitch" I highly disagree. Yeah she had her moments but no character on the show was perfect. Willow was just as selfish. I'm still annoyed by the S7 event. Buffy was completely right and nobody even apologized.

The whole story arc with Xander and the wedding won me over on Anya actually.

The one person I never related too was Tara. She was never part of the group, I didn't like how she was portrayed and as a result I didn't really care when bad stuff happened to her.

Yeah didn't care about Tara either. Cordelia and Oz for life.

:lol

Seen many shows about teenage girls "saving the world, a lot" have you?

I'm suddenly searching for the plural pronunciation of "apocalypse".

As a person, she's horrible. Does she do her job as a Vampire Slayer? Yes. Does she actively care about her friend's emotions? No.

She imposes herself on Giles all the time, and rarely cares about him (granted his character development is stalled beyond changing vocation in life). Willow has her heart broken when Oz leaves and all Buffy cares about is if Riley likes her, and the feelings she STILL has for Angel.

Selfless was one of the only watchable episodes of season 7, so Anya has that going for her, but I was never a big fan. She's light years better than Tara.

On my rewatch of the series, I realized something I didn't notice while watching the show as it aired.

Xander is an unlikeable douchebag.

He's clingy, vindictive, jealous, and all together worthless. This was stunning to me because growing up watching the show, I had considered him one of my favorites in the early going.

Yeah, which is funny, because at least early on, he's meant to be Joss Whedon. Xander largely redeemed himself to me with his conversation with Dawn in the 7th season episode, "Potential".
