It's a GFWL thing. Trueskill freaking sucks for RTS. I could be on at peak hours, with 3k other players online, and the matchmaking still takes forever.Gully State said:One other thing that bugs me about GFWL and maybe it isn't a GFWL thing but matchmaking for DOW2 was horrible. A lot of times it would take 5-10 min and up to 15 min to match into a game. I admit this could be due to the DOW2 multiplayer community not being big enough though (we'll see with retribution going to steam).
Hopefully they will use the same Steamworks features Valve is building in for DOTA 2 for all their future RTS games.K.Jack said:It's a GFWL thing. Trueskill freaking sucks for RTS. I could be on at peak hours, with 3k other players online, and the matchmaking still takes forever.
That and the MS Cert process are why Relic jumped ship to Steamworks. One of the devs flat out said, that they wouldn't have used GFWL, if Steamworks had been ready to go.

No biggy, I anticipated the issue because it was acting up and I backed up my save to an external hard drive. Except that it was locked to my old computer and refused to load once I had reinstalled the game. 30 hours down the drain.

Ditto on that. Had to find a work around to download and install the updates myself before launching GFWL.Chiggs said:Red Faction Guerilla was worse than that for me. Fuck GFWL.
Stumpokapow said:The concept of locked saves for a PC game was so absurd I hadn't fathomed the possibility they actually did it. Wow.
Edit: Making matters worse, you can use the console to give yourself all of Fallout 3's achievements, so locked saves don't even protect leaderboard/metagame integrity :lol :lol
Speaking of which; what is the difference between those two as well? I thought the later was the name given to indicate a game is also available on Mac and you only buy it once to play on both Mac and/or PC.ArjanN said:It's both a store and a service, in the same way you have both Steam and Steamworks titles.
Snuggler said:I hope to never bother with GFWL when I get my PC, but do they force you to pay with funny money? I want to make a point of never dealing with that shit ever again.
1-D_FTW said:Yeah. This is another thing I've occasionally raged about. Having to bookmark directions on how to transfer a save is pretty ridiculous. GTA IV was just a real PITA. Files all over the place and you could only locate some if you enable hidden folders. Really? Save folders hidden? If you need to spend a good 30 minutes researching how to transfer a save over to a new format, something is seriously borked.

The clicks were a problem in 4:3/5:4 as well, making it seem even less competent!FLEABttn said:Activation limits made no sense under the "the cd-key is tied to your account and your account can only be used on 1 Live device at a time" construct.
Their in game client didn't properly support my widescreen monitor from 2007-sometime over the summer this year. It would draw the GUI right but "click" areas were near the GUI boxes, so If I wanted to click on a box, I'd have to drag my mouse around it until it lit up.

I literally threw your game away, Bethesda, because of that bullshit. It is sitting, crushed, in a dump somewhere because of your shit retarded decision to use GFWL.
Snipes424 said:This is what I thought until I bought Bioshock 2.
To make a long story short, I'll never buy another GFWL game again.
