Buying Old Apple Products and Why I Do It

Man... I thought I was the last man alive with an iPhone 4, I upgraded to a 6 in January. But then, I do live in San Francisco.
 
Well guys, I lied to you and I believe that's worthy enough for a ban. But hear me out, I will be using an iPhone 4, iPad, and MacBook Pro all from 2010. I am NOT lying about that. Goodbye, NeoGAF. It's been fun.

You are doing it wrong. I got an Ipod 80 gb for 50 dollars a couple of years ago, that is how you do it. I can sell it now for 60 dollars.

I lied about the backstory. I cannot deny I royally fucked up. Still using the 2010 products, though because it is a special year for me. At least believe that. I'll post pictures of me using it if you wish (likely not though because perm)

Your entire reason for buying them was a complete lie. You ranted and raved how they will be brand new to you because of how you were using old early 2000's PC's and never owned a smartphone before. How they will be plenty fast compared to what you used. How hyped you were to finally get a smartphone.

You actively posted in Android threads about your flagship Galaxy S5. You aren't able to change a story yet again and get people to believe you.

Not to mention your sudden Apple devotion and how iOS 4 Safari is somehow the greatest thing ever and timeless despite your constant posts in Android 5.0 threads and showing off your stock Android homescreens. Based on what products you were lying about having that was all complete bullshit.

You lied about your entire original reason for getting them (you didn't start this whole loving 2010 thing till later on).

You lied about how they were going to be fast for you because of how old the tech you were used to using.

You lied how excited you were to own your first smatphone.

You lied about using a RAZR phone up until this date.

You lied in claiming you'd stop posting in this thread to "prove" you weren't just doing it for attention before your BS story got caught.

Someone who believes this, will inevitably have some deficiencies in other aspects of life. It takes a special kind of mindset to believe something like that, and we've seen some of that seepage here.

The only solution for the OP to improve his condition would be to take a long personal retreat to the Himalayas and ponder the meaning of life alongside some Buddhist monks.
 
Thing is this guy just won't stop. Most trolls when caught run away in shame. Each time he is called out he comes up with a new story and insists that is the actual truth.

His weird banned avatar makes me think he enjoys being caught lying and the drama it causes.

My own first computer was in 2001 and it was a Dell Dimension desktop that ran Windows XP Home Edition. It served me well, but by the year 2006, a friend of mine on the internet told me what a Macintosh was and that he loved it more than PCs. Needless to say, I wanted one so I worked up some money and bought a 2006 17 inch Intel Core Duo iMac from CompUSA (when they were still around). I loved the shit out of my iMac and loved Mac OS X Tiger. Now around that time I had my first cell phone from AT&T and it was a Nokia flip phone that was pay as you go if I recall. I never did quite like that phone, but sure enough it go the job done. Now as time went on and the year went by, I became more and more obsessed with Apple. So it's no surprise that when I was in school and the first iPhone was announced at MacWorld 2007, I jumped and was estatic to own one. So, I ditched my Nokia flip phone and worked up some money to wait in line on launch day for the original iPhone. I bought it and tried to sell it on eBay at the time because the demands for those phones were astronomically high in price. I bought the 4 GB version and tried to sell it on eBay, but was scammed. I was just about to ship it when I noticed the PayPal email was mis-spelled a bit so I called it off and just took the phone back to the store, because I wasn't willing to pay that money for the phone at the time. So I stick with my nokia phone, but later on when the iPod Touch came out in 2007, I bought one of those since it was cheaper and more affordable. I jailbroke that device and had ENDLESS amounts of fun tweaking and changing how it looked with summerboard (a UI customization application for jailbroken phones known now as winterboard). That was all well and good, but then when the 16 GB iPhone came out in February of 2008, I had enough money saved to where I could sell the iPod Touch and buy that particular phone. So I bought the 1st gen 16 GB iPhone from AT&T on a contract and neglected to buy the iPhone 3G. Time went on. In 2009, I was once again eligible for an upgrade so I upgraded to the iPhone 3GS because I had saved up for it. Kept the old iPhone just for novelty sake. I enjoyed the 3GS, although I did have it break on me within the 1 year warranty because the screen went black and I had to replace it at the Apple Store that opened up that year, but I did love the device. And then, something changed. In 2010, we switched carriers and I ended up ditching the iPhone 3GS for the Galaxy S from Samsung. I sold the iPhone 3GS as well to provide some money for Galaxy S. I also ditched my old iMac and bought a 2010 MacBook Pro for college. I then went to the iPhone 5 when it came out, and then to a Samsung Galaxy S5. Selling each of the devices every time I swapped over. I also then during 2011, bought a 2010 IBM ThinkPad and started using that instead of my MacBook Pro and gave the MacBook Pro to my sister. I then ditched the ThinkPad for a Toshiba Ultrabook that I am using right now to type this. It cost $300 and is not very good.

Follow all that? I don't see why you could. It's complex and I've been through a shit ton of devices. So now I'm in my 2010 phase where I just want to back to Apple and reminiscence in what it was like when I had my iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Pro. Those were great days. So I'm doing what I can to make it happen.

OP owned and actively used (active poster in Android threads) his high-end brand new in 2014 Galaxy S5. He isn't excited to get an iPhone 4 after that.

Yes, he promised he wouldn't even before he got called out on making up his whole SOB story of how this is his very first smartphone. It was his promise to "prove" he wasn't trolling.

Yes. I am. I miss my old iPhone experience. It was more streamlined than the shit Samsung puts on their phones. :/

Doesn't have the Apple ecosystem either. I can finally be consistent across products with one brand.
