Did you watch that video??

I try watching it every day to get me even more hyped for that glorious day when I receive my first iPhone.

Anyone here able to confirm this?

I can confirm it I still have an old 2010 iPhone 4 I use as an ipod when working out. It is unusable with the vast majority of third party apps unless you upgrade it to iOS 7 which is barely runs on a iPhone 4. And Safari can't handle 2015 era websites at all.

I am pretty sure every single third party app shown in that video is now incompatible on a iPhone 4 unless you upgrade to iOS 7 hah.

Right but, I'll be tethered downgrading to iOS 4 so I can have all the speed I need.

And nearly no third party app support whatsoever and mobile safari will be crashing constantly since websites mobile design has greatly evolved from 2010.

You can download older versions of applications that are compatible with iOS4. I think you need to give Safari more credit than that. That's a highly advanced browser that still stands the test of time. :P

There will be little to no usable third party apps.

iPhone 4 is unable to handle the vast majority of circa-2015 mobile websites.

Enjoy your phone that is only usable for phone calls and texting.
Nah, not actually true.

I've been passing down iPhones through the family and my sister in law was using my old iPhone 4 for a while with no issues. I was surprised at how many apps she was still using. Everything seemed to work pretty well, actually. It was a bit sluggish but more usable than expected. It's still a good device if you're not overly ambitious with what you want to do.

Heck, I shit you not, I know someone still using a 3GS...and it's hanging in there.

I can pitch in about the iphone 4, my parents both own one each and I own a 5 myself, the 4 is still a great phone for regular everyday use but just don't expect any of the latest games to run on it.

If my phone broke right now and I could buy a 4 for what would be £80 I probably would to hold me over, i've had budget androids in the past and they have been average to me.

I can't say about the laptop but 499 does sound like a lot for 2010 tech, I own a summer 2011 mac mini and that thing has ok power, nothing out of this world but useable, arkham asylum for mac runs on it but the slow HDD in the mini makes it really poor and stutters the game a lot.

Exactly. Apple products are made to last. Sure, you might have to replace the battery every so often, but the Apple brand is more than a brand. It's a company that makes reliable products that can stand the test of time.

Did she upgrade to iOS 7 on it? That is the only way to still get access to 90% of decent third party apps. Most apps have long since required iOS's that are above iOS 4. He is downgrading it to iOS 4 which will make the vast majority of apps incompatible.

How do you know? How many have you owned?

Yeah, it was on iOS 7 and most apps were still compatible.

No chance that iOS 4 will cut it, though, for modern apps.

The year is 2070. Websites don't exist anymore as we know it. We email each other with our minds. Quantum computers that run at 10THz are the norm. Everything is brain-based.

OP is in bed with his iPad 1, iPhone 4, and 2010 Macbook. The perfect trio.

You, my dear sir, are clearly mistaken. So a guy wants to use products from 2010? Why does NeoGAF care so much about that? I crave to live in the 2010 and that's most of the reason as to why I bought the air and iphone 4 and ipad.

There you go. He is going iOS 4. So he will have a vastly different experience. The amount of apps that allow you to be on iOS 4 is virtually non-existent.

The only real shot he has is using old versions of apps - is it possible to access those at this point? Perhaps if he used a jail-broken version of iOS 4 it might be easier.

People are seriously still replying to this guys troll thread like it was real? It was obvious from the second page needs a troll.
Yeah, I regret trying to talk sense into him. It's clear he is a joke character now after the latest post.

I believe only if you had already previously downloaded it, it'd be in your app history. Or jailbreaking as you said.

I refuse to believe that OP's Apple dickriding isn't a troll. Nobody is going to argue with you that the iPhone 4 wasn't a brilliant piece of hardware for it's time, but it's unusable on iOS7, has no apps for iOS4, and there's zero way to get to an iOS in between without some major work.

Their build quality is nice, yes, but it's 2015 and there's phones in that similar price range (Moto G) that make the 4 look like a toy. A toy that's going to experience hardware failure soon, most likely

A number of Apple products have general hardware and system problems. Macs were known to last a long time back in the PC vs. Mac wars because Mac wouldn't traditionally get bogged down over time like PC would. This has changed though with the more demanding updates for both their computer systems and mobile offerings. Your iOS 4 Phone is going to be gimped without access to an app store with runnable apps.

How is it that I must prove to you that I am not trolling? Can a guy buy what he wants without being judged?

If you weren't trolling you wouldn't make this thread and try to show off constantly and suddenly switch to an Apple avatar and spew out overly stereotypical Apple praises but about old outdated technology.

No sane human being would make the posts you are making. Now suddenly you are getting the MBA again, of course!

OP, if there was a time machine that could bring you back to 2010, but only under the condition that you never use an Apple product again, would you do it?

You are wrong about half the things you post and don't listen to people telling you why. You're either a troll or insane.

And then he constantly shows endless ebay tracking information to show off his awful decisions. It's a very "Hey look at me, how ironic I am being!" sort of troll.

After people thought going for the MBP wasn't that awful a decision he immediately switched to "looks like the MBA I cancelled is coming after all guys lolololol".

Clear trolling.

It is coming, but the seller does offer a 14 day return policy. I best not even open the box.

Look, I'll stop talking if all you think is that I am craving attention. I'll just post the pictures of the products when I get them and that will be that.

That isn't stopping then now is it? You'd be doing that just to get more attention and posts about your dumb decisions. No one cares about seeing a picture of a iPhone 4 or old 2010 MacBook Air. Only reason to post them, products everyone has seen endlessly is to keep up the attention.

Alright. I'll stop this and stop sharing with the world my decisions. I think that's a pretty good call at this point. I'm done from here on out on this thread.
