This place has been gone for years...
Though thanks for the pic, people didn't believe me it existed! XD

It's a name. Bich is usually pronounced like Bic in Bic Razers and Nga is like Nah. My Vietnamese pronunciation is hella bad though so someone might come in to correct me.

Elegant in Cantonese as I recall since Vietnamese and Cantonese have some cross-over.

Yeah I saw the same translation for Nga, I've just never used it. And how you pronounced it would be how I would describe it too.

This reminds me of the Indian clothing store called Hitler, which I heard about on Tell 'em Steve Dave.

When asked about re-naming the store:

His co-owner, Manish Chandani, told AFP news agency they had never intended to glorify Hitler.

"I was not aware of Hitler being responsible for the killings of six million people before the shop's inauguration. This time I will choose a non-controversial name."

My mind is conflicted.
The swastika would not be an issue given the location. However, given the name, the swastika, and the store owner's poor excuse, I am inclined to believe he had a cursory knowledge of Hitler, perhaps not a full one.

Ha! I drive past that place pretty often, it's near the University of Houston campus in the middle of a little Korea in Midtown. I get my hair cut nearby so I always grab a bowl of pho afterwards feeling so fresh and clean lol.

Do you go to parkside theaters? If so thats pretty cool cus I go there too :D didnt know there was a gaffer that was around the pinellas park area!
Hell yeah, best theater in the area. I still need to visit the new one at the old Baywalk, Sundial iirrc.

Pinellas park is a shithole.

when I saw the 727 area code I knew it was Florida.
I recently moved to an apartment on the cusp of P Park in Largo and I can't agree more.
, Seminole was so much nicer. Glad I still work over there.

Me and my friend used to laugh every time we saw...

We of course pronounced it Fuck it, Thai. Like, "what do you want to eat?"
" fuck it, Thai."

Felt bad when the 04 Tsunami devastated the place though, so not as funny anymore.

There's a "Phucket Thai" in my city and it still gets the occasional chuckle.

It's Vietnamese.

The first word is pronounced "bit", but with a rising tone. As for the second word, the "ng" is pronounced EXACTLY the same as it is in English (song, angry, going, etc.), and the "a" very similar to the "a" in the English word "man".

As for the meaning, I forgot, which is kinda embarrassing as it is my mom's name!

If I recall correctly, "bich" means pearl or something.

Google it.

Fuck Vietnamese pronunciation, lol. *goes back to speaking Japanese*

LOL. You were close as it does sound close to "naah." I have no idea how to sound out the pronunciation in english since it's like... phonetically impossible. That particular sound just doesn't exist in the english language I don't think, since the n is almost silent, but not totally

Driving around st pete with my wife and her cousins last year (she's from that area), we had to stop so they could try to get a to-go menu or something as a souvenir.

That sound DOES exist in English. The "ng" in Vietnamese makes THE EXACT SAME SOUND as the "ng" in English!

ring

angle

tongue

You Anglophones get all tripped up when you see it because you are not used to seeing it at the beginning of a word.

There are more English words that contain the "ng" sound that there are Vietnamese words that start with "ng"
