Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Beta Thread | PS4 Weekend

Nah, I really do not like this at all, I will play the SP and then my MP games this year will be Battlefield 1 and MW:R.

I just don't know what it is about it but it's really not polished at all, it feels like an early prototype for Black Ops 3.

The crafting system is good though and really well done to be fair, just a shame the base game really feels off.

All these graphics complaints are crazy, the game looks fine. Looks similar to past CoDs. This is coming from someone who plays the shit out of the games.

I don't understand that complaint either. They make it sound like previous games look so much better... Guess there are alot of sheep here or something.

Unable to play at the moment but I got a question for those that have.

I heard that some of the RIGS perks are overpowered. I know there's one that removes your score streak reset on death with the cost of higher points needed for a scorestreak.

How are the others?

Just play BF1 or Gears 4, and you'll understand. COD needs to step up their graphics game in a big way IMO.

I used that perk and even though I was capping points and killing loads of people I didn't get the top killstreak over the entire game, the points required for that where something like 4,650!!

I liked AW because of the speed, constantly being on the move worked in my favor. Ghost was a camp fest. My best matches came from holding down a piece of the map and stacking score streaks. I'm getting the same vibes for from Infinite Warfare.

I am too. You can tell just from the beta the guys who Ghosts made this.

I agree with a lot of what you say. The graphics for me have NEVER been a selling point of call of duty anyway. So it's not as though this game looks unrecognisably bad, and as you say at it's core it's call of duty, I see no fundamental difference between any other call of duty this gen in terms of core gameplay.

There seem's to be two different groups of negativity, those who hail another call of duty on next-gen as superior, and those that just don't like what call of duty has become.

For me personally call of duty was at it's best when it was simple. Call of Duty 2 was amazing, and the series peaked at 4 which for me was the best of the bunch. From that point on it just got a bit ridiculous with supply drops, and an even greater emphasis on perks and weapon upgrades. Black Ops 3 is a classic example of complication for me, there's just too much going on, in the menus with regards to customization.

I get the reasoning behind it, add longevity right? But for me personally what can keep me hooked on a game is the gameplay. A game that I play because I enjoy the actual gameplay, not because I want to grind out upgrades.

If that wasn't bad enough the devs thought it would be a good idea to add a new movement system to really freshen the series up, well that for me was the worst thing to happen to call of duty. The million perks, upgrades, customization etc I could deal with, but the movement system? I hate it.

The reason why Inifinte warfare is even less enjoyable for me than the previous entries which I also didn't enjoy is because it feels to me like the maps aren't well suited to the movement system, as opposed to Black Ops 3 (which I don't like for all the reasons mentioned) which has maps designed around the movement system.

Despite my criticisms I'm still purchasing this game for the campaign and cod 4.

I also agree with alot of what you said there. I also don't really particulary like the over the top customization etc etc. There seem to be alot of it going on in this one as well based on some of the menu's. The movement / future stuff meeeh. But again, those aren't the reasons for me not to play it. I get my competitive fix somewhere else.

I've played BF1 on a good PC, Gears 4 not yet. Just since when do COD games look like Gears? Also the complaints aren't that the COD games are starting to look dated, they just "suck" now suddenly in their "favourite" annual game.

Played a few matches and felt really meh about the whole thing. Doesn't seem to be any real hook that makes me want to buy the game, feels like BO3 but with different guns.

I'm enjoying it so far though I wish there was better maps. I only like Throwback.

BLOPS 3 felt too fast paced for me. I'm sure I'm going to pick this up for COD4 also. But I originally planned on waiting for BF1 in case I didn't have enough for \the newest COD. I might just pick up BF1 first and then see when I can get this.

thats how i feel about it. i dont hate it, but feels a bit pointless with having black Ops 3.

ill probably will get this game some other time later

I don't think it's terrible or anything. It just feels the same as BO3 which felt the same as AW.

It's a massive fuck up from Activision to have all 3 devs working in this same shitty near future setting. All it does is make the franchise fatigue even stronger.

The aesthetics are atrocious though. Someone called it "souless" a few pages back and I agree. The maps feel like cardboard cut outs from a film set.

Y'all tripping. IW coming at you with a futuristic and modern game in one package.
One is one of the greatest console multiplayer shooters ever, the other is a clear descendant of the worst Call of Duty multiplayer ever. Unfortunately I can't buy one without the other at the moment, so I'm going to sit this one out until MW:R is released on its own, because Infinity Ward has done nothing to earn my money.

Let's not pretend this isn't awful. Dull maps, stupidly low TTK, shitty weapons. Can't believe it took IW 3 years to come up with this.

I haven't even had a chance to actually play the game yet because yesterday the beta was fucked. But just messing around with the menus and everything makes it just so bland - like there is a certain character that BO3 has.

I only played 3 matches and I was probably killed more times from quickscopers than AW and BOIII combined. Is this just "luck" or is quickscoping back with a force?

So far from what I've played this doesn't feel good to me. But I'm still a grumpy "simple is better" COD guy.

EDIT: At least the space map for domination is not that bad compared to the terrible domination maps for AW and BO III.

So many 'juniors' with MASSIVELY negative opinions on this game, just look at the last page. Then there's a lot who LOVE the game. Both extremes.

Man, it's hard to know who to trust when these AAA games get released these days...

If you are cancelling your preorder for Infinite Warfare, you might want to consider putting that money on Titanfall 2. Even with all the changes from Titanfall 1, its still going to be a much better game than Infinite Warfare.

I don't know where half you guys are coming from when you say the TTK is too quick, I've found myself easily strafing and returning fire at groups of people and also turning on players a lot. It seems like this game is VERY dependent on whether or not you have a solid internet connection. I'm continuously dropping people without them even having a chance to respond.

And it manages not innovate in any shape or form. Same shitty 3 lane maps the size of an apartment, same shitty spawns, and it's almost literally a CTRL+C - CTRL+V of Black OPs 3.

I'm in this thing for COD4. Because as this stands, Infinite Warfare should be the last game that carries this formula. It's old, it's tired, and it's gonna find itself in trouble going head to head with BF1 and Titanfall.

Throwback is such a great ass map. It's scale needs to be a bit bigger. I almost thought it was a callback to that train map in MW3.

One thing I really don't like is throwing animation. The entire process feels janky.

First of all, what the hell does someone's member status have to do with how valid their opinion is?

Second, there are plenty of users, both standard and junior, that have both positive and negative impressions of the game.

This is so contradictory.

People's perception of the low TTK may be slightly heightened due to the contrast coming from the BLOPS3 TTK (which is the highest of any call of duty), but the TTK is still WAY too quick, just like it was on Ghosts. You can die in 2-3 bullets from guns with insanely fast fire rates.

But why bother innovating when people are just going to buy it for the other game in the bundle anyways? I'm willing to wait because I refuse to reward this poor attempt by Infinity Ward, but clearly you and others feel differently.

Unfortunately, we all know that we're going to be right back here again in 3 years for "MW2 10th Anniversary Edition" when they bundle it with Infinity Ward's next game.

Are you suggesting a conspiracy in which EA or some other nefarious body had created a bunch of fake accounts to slag off Infinite Warfare?

Because that is insane.

The game would be so much more fun if the TTK was marginally higher. Hit detection is on-point, but there are basically no gunfights any more. It's nearly always whoever sees the other first gets the kill, and with maps like this that have a ton of entrances everywhere it just doesn't work. There's a near endless cycle of "get a kill, get shot in the back, get a kill, get shot in the back ..." that gets old quickly. It's a shame because the overall feel of the game is good. Weapons handle nicely and the movement system works well.

Graphically the game looks pretty nice to me. Basically like BO3 but with a slightly more muted colour palette, which isn't a good or bad thing really; just different. I turned off the blur and grain immediately though, as neither helps the overall presentation. Speaking of which, I'm not impressed with the weapon camouflages. They literally just cover the entire weapon in a new texture, ruining all the detailing. It makes the gun look ridiculous and they should be applied over the weapon properly, like in every other CoD.

Totally agree! Literally everyone on the enemy team I played against was a sniper and they were just quick scoping all the time.

I get what he's saying. A bunch of juniors coming out of the woodwork for a cod game is random as hell and probably coming from people that barely give their thoughs on a game on gaf in general let alone on a cod when we have threads for it.

EA conspiracy? come on now lol
unless he the type to believe in that then lol

edit: ain't really anything wrong with a bunch of junior accounts speaking up tho

Wait, what? That seems completely backwards, unless it was solely the crappy netcode making everything seem like an instakill.
