I don't think they can. West, Zampanella and crew created the game and the engine and they were the only ones who really knew what they were doing. The new devs seem to only be able to swap out the basics like skins, map layout, scorestreaks, sfx etc.

That's really insightful.

Doing this for all Call of Duty games (post- Modern Warfare), and highlighting how the differences impact gameplay, would make for a great video.

Get into engagements faster, cod players need their instant gratification.

It's just an endless cycle.

Get shot in the back. Respawn. Shoot someone in the back. Repeat.

And the complain about getting shot in the back, while shooting someone in the back.
 
This game has made me fucking hate SMG's again. Like nothing else can compete at even medium range, especially since QuickDraw is a thing so early on. It's fucking irritating

I thought it was dumb fun. I liked the map that had the bombed out buildings and the train trolleys at opposite ends to snipe in. I thought there was a lot of good ways to get the jump on people and duck in and out of cover. It's more a symmetrical map which is better, because you are less likely to get jumped from behind.

Obviously like others have said SMGs are the only weapon to use. If you get picked from long range its your fault for being in the wrong spot..Otherwise run an SMG and get kills. If the single player gets good reviews I'll get it. It seems fine. I liked infinite warfare better once the networking issues got cleared up. Gameplay did seem more responsive than other call of duty games maybe?
 
Ok. Gave it a try for about a day and here is what i think of it.

- Maps. I think they all very fun. In Domination is where they shine. Read lots of negative comment about them, i dont see it.

- Guns. Well its a beta, lots of balancing need to be done. Specialy for LMG, my favorite weapons in COD games. And some of these weapons take lots of space on your sight. Cannot saw there is one weapon i enjoy more than another.

- War mode. I think its fun, its the only new thing they bring to cod this year, i guess i will play it offen, i like it.

- Lag? Well, i think there is a problem there. Lots of time, i dont have time to see someone on a area, he start shooting before i had the chance to saw him. Something is wrong there, im guessing the lag?

-Spawn points: Well i dont see where is the whinning about. Maybe happen two time i spawn and 3 second later got killed, but again , its maybe because im focusing on domination rather than tdm.

- Divisions: Well, some primary division skill are imo overpower compare to others. Shotgun flame shell? Hmmm. There is seem to be a bug where i try to create a cusom division with different gun, unlock the 3rd attachment, and could not use it. Way i fix it is that i change my division for my create soldiers and turn it back to it.

Overall, its a freakin beta, so im going to be gentle about what im saying. Its an ok game. Cant fully judge till we see all weapons, maps, lag fix. Its back to his roots, which is imo a good thing. But will wait a bit to see if im going to dump MWR for WWII. Cause for me atm, MWR is just a great COD game. No quickdraw skill, no fast run, its where i love it, its player skill vs player skill, not best perks setup vs perks setup. Am i impress by what i saw? Cant say i am. Just happy its no longer a futuristic wall jumping, double jump, cloaking show trying to paste Titanfall.

When COD4 screwed theirs up originally they announced it as an attempt to "get players back into the action faster"
everyone threw a fit when they did it and they quickly went back to the original.

W@W at launch had literally the worst spawns of the series for a while.
MW2 was better but still included revenge spawns.

However after MW2 the maps all went to hell which amplified how bad the system had become.

There needs to be a balance between spawning with your team and spawning out of a situation where a really good team hems in a really bad team and just won't let them get out of their spawning areas.
I'd rather spawn and be destroyed with a bad team than when the game decides you get to be the one spawned on the other side of the map alone and get killed in a loop till you get somewhere decent.
This is why BO3 works well, when you get put in that loop by COD you have the ability to just nope out due to the movement as well as the maps not being a terrible mess.
 
I'm not sure if I like this more than Black Ops 3, but I certainly like it more than Infinite Warfare and Advanced Warfare. It's a buy for me. Just not sure which platform. Probably XB1 because I still have gold.

I knew this a week or so after playing it last fall but that was mainly due to how many hours ive put into 4 back in the day so any change throws me off. The spawns on Crash was the first thing that tipped me off.

The average person wouldn't pick up on it tho easily.
 
Decided to "join" the growing number of SMG users and I have to say the contrast is ridiculously stark. The game is clearly built for the ADHD/hyperactive crowd who just want to go nuts and get the "SICK MLG KILLS". I'm usually a somewhat cautious player who only decides to move and attack when it's all-but-certain to do so and as ample people have mentioned already, the TTK when using something like an assault rifle is beyond BS. How SMGs can be better at longer distances than rifles is beyond me. I actually had no joy using something like the M1, I found most of the time the first two or three rounds didn't even register a hit on anyone I was targeting.

So I switched to using the PPSh as Airborne with what is essentially the Lightweight perk (forget what it's called) and holy fuck is this a completely different story. I go from ending most matches with negative K/D due to a number of BS reasons pertaining to both net-code and the design of maps....to absolutely decimating matches where upon I end up MVP literally every time. I'm not even that great a player..."good" perhaps but nothing special. But so long as you've got an SMG, can hip-fire while running and just spend most of your time running manically around the map, you'll be fine.

But Ardennes Forest really is the biggest culprit when it comes to spawn trapping/camping. Every time I played on that map - and spawned on the side near the pillbox - I would just rush the right side, get 3 maybe 4 kills and just sit by the far side picking people off as they respawn by the bridge. And before people start hurling abuse at me, believe me when I say that I suffered just as much from people who did the exact same thing, during the first weekend notably when I was still...still...trying to find enjoyment using alternate weapons or simply trying my hardest not to conform to this new CoD mentality in that the only way to remotely survive is to just run around, jump-shot and mow people down in the process.

Average K/D went from around 0.8 to about 5.5 as a result with numerous instances of going 15-20 kills without dying. Again, I'm not gloating...clearly this is a broken mess of a game and for everyone's sake, I hope they fix this among with WW2's other many online problems just so it doesn't become this vicious cycle of everyone running around, shooting in the back and getting shot in the back thereafter. But my head, obviously, says otherwise; like hell are they going to sort shifting to prone while firing somehow making you invulnerable or indeed quick-scoping.

Aachen is perhaps the only decent map they've shown thus far...but even then it's still a three-lane template with ocassional mid-range/long-range engagement.

It can and it is. People will sit around in high-traffic areas, shooting at players who come out of the woodwork. It's quite agonizing. Bad map design and camping aren't mutually exclusive, and often go hand-in-hand. What really clinches it is the bad spawn design, aim-assist making tracking mobile enemies harder, and various things that make the act of flanking harder. It's too easy to get shot in the back or detected without your body ever being visible (because your name still popped up).

Someone with high profile should tweet this (or youtube it). Half my deaths are from recently spawned guys behind me and it drives me away from COD's months at a time.

Plug in what that Gears of War dev said about 90% of new online players who don't get a single kill wont return to the game.

Now, what is the single benefit of this spawn system? Is that eventually, everyone gets a kill.
 
What's up with the TERRIBLE headshot sound? You can barely even hear it. So unsatisfying. They should have brought back the WaW headshot sound.
 
I was at the Fan Expo in Toronto over the weekend and was lucky enough to talk to a couple of the devs. There was a huge PlayStation booth setup with a phone as controller display, VR display, and many tv's with people playing WW2. I told them I bought the $130 cad digital version and that I had been playing the beta. They asked if I liked it and I bluntly said no. They asked why and I replied that the maps are extremely small and tight, the graphics need to be polished,the aiming system seems off, amongst some other things. I told them the only redeeming factor for me would be the SP campaign as I would not be playing the multiplayer any longer and that I would be sticking with BF1. We had a polite interchange, I thanked them, and continued on my way.
 
The console beta is definitely over but a PC beta is still supposedly in the works, maybe late September, early October I'm guessing.
 
It's really sad that the map design basically makes anything but SMG's useless. Except for maybe a crack shot quick scoper. Just pathetic game balancing with zero thought put into it.

That's a bummer. I was hoping for maybe one more map. As I haven't loved any of the maps, but I haven't hated any of them. I'm going to cancel my pre order and see what people are saying when it releases. Kind of sucks Amazon has done away with 20% off pre orders the day after release.
 
i've been reading this thread a while now and everything im reading is "spawn this" "maps horrible" etc etc

im a old school cod player (since cod2) and my fav cod4, and the thing i always get dissapointed is ppl playing tdm, dom or ffa everytime, and im here waiting to play old school SnD.

btw i preordered on pc so im hoping to test it out soon, if i dont see potential or just some hope in this "traditional" cod, no flying around etc. i will cancel and buy PUBG or BF1 and forget once for all about cod (didnt buy IW) for the same reason.

ps. everything went down since vince zampella and jason west left Activision/Infinity Ward T_T

I don't get this. Things have gone down since the talented people left the franchise. Luckily, those people are still working on an FPS franchise that's amazing. Why not just go play Titanfall 2 instead of just buying this, wishing it were still a top-tier franchise?

I've thought about it, but I really don't buy that many games full price and I use Amazon for a lot more than just games. Still something I might consider in the future.

The 20% is for all games in new condition, even if they've gotten price cuts. You get 10% off used games, too.
