Capcom announces Dead Rising: Chop Til' You Drop for US (Press Release inside)

Isn't it more moronic to buy a downgraded version of a game you already have?

Not really. I enjoy my Wii and plan on having fun playing this "different" vision/version of Dead Rising. It'd be moronic for me to post like I've played the game already and know its amazing/shit, whatever the preference. Some of the things changed I'm miffed about, other things they have added I like. The games going to sell well despite what the people on this board are going off about.

Pathetic. I was overjoyed when I first saw the Famitsu announcement. Dead Rising on the Wii with an RE4 controlscheme sounded like a lot of fun.

Yeah, I was there "day 1!".
But then it became clear that the game was almost an afterthought in terms of how Capcom was going to back the game up budget-wise.
And why I'm expected to shell €45 for a crappy effort? Because it's a Wii game in a genre that's lacking on the console? GTFO.

I'll still keep an open mind and if the game turns out good I'll be the first one to rejoice and taking my Visa out. Hell, I WANT the game to be good; I was pretty damn excited at the idea of this franchise heading to Wii. Oh well, I own a X360 as well so I must be just a rabid fanboy, mad at Capcom for strapping the game's exclusivity stamp from my console of choice (hint: not really), am I right?

I own every console. I am a HUGE Dead Rising fanboy. Hell, I'm a Capcom fanboy this gen. I want this game to be good, I really do. But the more of this game I see, the worse it looks (and I'm not talking about the not-so-great graphics).

I will rent this game and give it an honest try. If I like it, I'll buy it. I'm looking for any excuse to support the Dead Rising IP. I just want to support a good game and not a half-assed piece of shit cash-in. I can't do a blind buy when I have so many doubts.

Colin Ferris might be right, the game might be great and I'll look stupid for doubting him. Or maybe the game is a dud, he knows it, and he's frustrated. Either way he came off as a douche in his piece.

Every time i come in this thread, i wish i hadnt. This game looks pathetic, and this is coming from a very happy wii owner that plays it more than 360 and ps3 combined. This shit looks terrible and I will definitely be a part of the problem with this one.

I agree with this, tho, I'm going as far as to say that I'm going to buy this. I'm not even thinking of it as Dead Rising at this point, but RE4 shooting gallery in mall. If they can at least nail the great controls of RE4 Wii here, I'm satisfied. I mean, there wasn't much to expect in the first place. It's a port down from one of the few "next gen" games that actually benefit greatly from from increased hardware. It's one of those games that serves as the perfect rebuttal to any claim that more powerful hardware = shiney graphics.

As long as you buy HotD on day one, you won't really be part of the problem.

Deadly Creatures or MadWorld are also acceptable answers.

Wow, it actually uses the RE4 engine?! That's actually really awesome. I might be interested in this now simply because RE4 was so rock solid.

Based on all of the changes they've stated, it seems as if the game will be REALLY different overall. Could be worth playing even for those who've already played the original.

It seems to me that owning both might make sense as this appears to be a completely different game.

YES, RE4 on the wii was great. So maybe this is just RE4 Wii inside a mall (still a good thing)

To be fair to the developer, I don't think it's fair to put that entire list on their laps. You have to remember that this is a very technically limited platform and they're trying to graft Dead Rising onto an engine that wasn't designed for it. Maybe if they actually were using a brand new engine build from the ground up there would be a much better result.
that's the point

maybe capcom should choose better how they make their games for wii.
Fixed, because the issue isn't them choosing Dead Rising. It's the way the project has been handled.

Ok, I officially gave up on the game.

Today I've bought Dead Rising (Classics' line, X360).
Maybe far down the line, if the game's actually worth a shot.

Two hours in, I'm loving the game btw.
Hopefully there are more couches around to save though, I'm not finding that many at the moment so I had to backtrack a couple of times to save.

You can save in every bathroom, and almost every area has one.

EDIT: Beaten

That tunnel video has to be one of the worst things I've seen this generation.

I don't even know why Capcom did bother to put that in the Wii edition.

You know what makes me never stop bashing this game no matter how easy it is? The fact that they are aiming to sell 500k copies of this shit.

I personally wouldn't go that far but it looks quite a bit better than I had expected.
I know zombies count and graphics aint 360 quality but there seems to be certain depth in this version. Cant wait to try it to see how it is.

I think the graphics are fine considering how much geometry is on screen at once, but how is this game going to pose any challenge given the wide open level design, the slowness of the zombies, and the small number of zombies? Every vid I see shows Frank taking leisurely potshots at small groups of zombies. If the zombies pose no challenge, what's the point in having them in the game aside from set decoration? If you're going to mainly be challenged by nimble zombie parrots and poodles, the game will become moronic.

What the hell...

The tunnel segment looks very bad...

geeze capcom...
The best part isn't that there aren't all that many zombies, or that they are just the same two kinds repeated over and over, or even that they don't move around.

It's the total and complete lack of animation when they're hit by the car. it looks like they're a bunch of those little rigid army man toys and they're just kind of being pushed over without any body motion.
