Capcom announces LOST PLANET 2 (360) - shock&awe imminent

I wonder who'll be first to do an in-depth comparison of the jungle and snow environments from this with the Uncharted games and piss everyone off as a result.

Looks quite gorgeous.

Looks great. Holy crap, that intro is totally the Killzone 2 E3 2007 trailer :lol The music is very very similar too. I think it's an homage. :D

Just coming through the clouds with the four guys in the speedboat. Obviously draws its ultimate inspiration from WWII and Normandy, but there is one section of the music that is very similar structurally.

When I saw LP2 on the title I thought ewwwggh cos of I didn't really like the first one, but multiplayer mode wasn't too bad.
But this video look big change from LP, maybe good for me but dunno if it is for my mate who heavy love LP.

HELL YEAH! Motion blur and snow! YEAH!

I loved the first one except for one thing... That damn long ass getting up animation your character had. It cost me so many matches in multiplayer because I spent half the time getting up. You need to be invincible while in that animation or something.

Gears of Akrid: ODST. And it looks delicious.

Hope its multiplatform (would be weird if it wasn't) as I don't pay for Xbox Live anymore, and 4 player co-op on this will probably be aces.

Framework 2.0 has just shown how superior Capcom is to all other japanese devs and how theyve got their shit 100% together. Imagine how barren this gen would feel without Capcom. Theyre churning out massive hit after massive hit, its amazing.

It's not an insignificant thing to say. When this turns out to be multiplatform (perhaps with exclusive 360 content as stated in Famitsu 360), will you sleep worse at night?

It's insignificant because it's Capcom - one developer in particular that tends to not follow through with any statements they make.

I won't sleep worse at night either way. Will you?

The PC version of Extreme Condition is available for $10US on eBay.

Should I do it GAF?

The XBox360 version is of the Lost Planet: Colonies edition $19.99 if interested. I just picked it up a few weeks back for like $12 (40% off Circuit City fire sale). And the multiplayer is quite nice. I was a huge fan of the original game's online play, but the CE is pretty sweet. The only downside is that Capcom splintered the fan base. If anyone wants to get a game of LP, or LP:CE, send me a message via XBL. I'm always down to play!

Still smarting over Mikami are we :lol

looked really good. i dont know which platform i would want to get it on though. i got the first one on PC but it was a bitch to set it up through steam for some reason.

Interesting. Might have to pick up the first if this one shapes up to be good.

The first one was overhyped, hopefully people won't overblow their load on this one unless it's worth it.

After finally being able to watch the movie, I gotta say it looks awesome.
From visual effects to the pace, to the implementation of coop - Capcom has a hit game at its hands.

Just watched it in HD on my TV and WOW melted my eyeballs.

The scale is ridiculous, and that thing at the end that they have to zipline onto :0

I bought the first game in steam but I could never kill the big boss that also appears at the very beggining of the game.

Should I give it a second try? I was so desperate than i deleted the game, saves and everything.

So 4 player co-op?
Pretty cool. The first Lost Planet was pretty poor. Its demo was polished to hell and back and totally sold me on the game but sadly the full game was not that great. Therefor I'm very happy to see they are taking a different approach. Ooh and that crocodile boss looks sick! :D

It'll be out on PS3 as well, if it was exclusive they would have mentioned it
Ye, that is a good point. I dont see anywhere in this Lost Planet 2 video on Gamersyde.com that says that Lost Planet 2 is an exclusive game, and it probably would have said that if it was as you say :)

Looks great, butI remember not liking the original (not the full game, I was turned off by the demo), so here's hoping the game plays as great as it looks this time.

Actually, the opposite for me. I held off on getting the game for a good number of months because the demo just underwhelmed me. Looked pretty, but way way too easy.

Playing the full game on Hard mode was such a different experience. I was stuck at the first boss for hours, and loved it for that. Really enjoyed the difficulty, and the T-Eng running out on you if you wasted your time added to the tension (I suppose it's not too important on lower difficulties).

Which reminds me that I need to finish the game on Extreme.

I'm more inclined to think it's 3 or 6 player co-op. The mech in the trailer only holds three players, and it wouldn't be a fun coop setting with three people on a mech and one player has to short straw draw and run along the side.

ya... I think the only reason this is announced on the 360 first is because PSN does not update on Mondays. I don't think the original sold enough to pass up on a port.

same goes for Halo3. There is always that one bastard running behind the Warthog. I doubt they put it to 3 just for that.

I really liked the first and I really really wanted to get into the multiplayer but I never once managed to get into a game that wasn't a lag fest, though I thought it had massive potential. I hope they really get a decent multiplayer code and search engine in there as I would love to really get into the multiplayer of this game.

Ye, that might be why there isnt any PS3 announcement for Lost Planet yet :) How much did the first Lost Planet game sell?

Most mech's in LP1 go roughly the same speed as on foot anyway apart from a few which are only slightly faster, then you get the rocket sled mech and the uber mech with flying ability.

If they were to force you into a 3 man mech the 4th man would surely get a single seater nearby or a sled.

360 version sold like 1.3-1.4 million, and total across all versions was over 2 million I believe. So it makes sense why it would be announced over XBLM first.

Man, it feels so weird to see a Japanese game that looks that good.. Besides MGS4 and.. .... that's about it, all other games while looking 'nice', they don't look as hot as the big western titles.

Just saw the trailer, holy shit. That was in engine? Damn!! Very excited. As mentioned, please please please Capcom, give this game a decent damn netcode so I can actually play the multi!!

I find it strange to have a favorite publisher, personally.

Matters little to me.

Strong portfolio of games brought to the table since the start of this gen does however.

Capcom's definitely been the smartest japanese developer this gen with their all-encompassing engine.

This game doesn't look all that interesting to me or different enough from the first game though, co-op aside.

i would be suprised that an year old port sold 600k at full price on ps3...

hope its multi otherwise there is one more reason to get a 360 , and slowly its getting painfull to not have one

They're ain't smart in my eyes yet until they announced a next gen Monster Hunter. We all know their "too expensive to develop" is bullshit.

The only things LP really needed is better feedback to tell the player they're actually hitting their target, and faster knockdown/melee animations. Fix those and it's easily a AAA multiplayer game.

Everything Capcom's touched has been gold. LP, Dead Rising, and DMC4 all look fantastic.
