Capcom announces LOST PLANET 2 (360) - shock&awe imminent

Does Lost Planet:Colonies have a seperate set of achievements or does it have the same achievements from the regular version?

I guess what im saying is if I play through the regular Lost Planet and then buy the colonies edition will I have to get all the achivements all over again or does the system treat them as the same game?

Different achievements. Colonies' are pretty much all multiplayer-based.

I don't think I've ever played the multiplayer for more than a couple minutes.

LP was firmly an SP game for me.
MP was pretty good imo.. there were mechs... MECHS i tell you!!.
maps were very large though.

Looks incredible, probably the best looking console game so far. Capcom's tech really is outclassing the competition this generation.

I just got done looking at the trailer. 4 player co-op! Fu@#$ing amazing! I am absolutey there day one.
Game definitely isn't the best looking console game yet. I think Gears 2 still easily outclasses
it but I love the art style.

I hope this is multiplatform. It looks awesome and infinitely better than the first game, which I did not like at all.

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on this game.

just seen the trailer, holy shit. i'll honestly say, these are the best graphics i've ever seen. not talking about "technical level" either b/c i have no idea on that, though i'm sure these are way up there on it too... but overall, the outdoor environments, with the vastness and variety (something KZ2 lacks sorely) and art direction. CAPCOM am back! :D

wait... 4-player co-op too?!

*unzips*

I was not impressed by the trailer until dude grappled up onto the giant bug thing at which point my jaw promptly hit the floor

Colonies Edition has whole different achievements, really made for people double dipping. Tons of multiplayer achievements and quite a bit through the extra modes. I think there's only like 100 points dedicated towards conquering the campaign.

It was kinda bullshit. I played Colonies Edition first and I only got like 150 GS. =/

Thatsa lotta blur.

I see Soundelux DMG on there... YESSSSSS

Glad to see they're back for this one.

Very glad that they're pushing Co-op. This might be a Day 1 for me.

Just watched. Looks awesome, 4-player co-op and (hopefully) even more bad-assed MP gameplay than Colonies. Definitely a day-one for me, though I'm sure that day is a ways off.

Looks good, but im not entirely convinced with the shooting mechanics. Seems like the guns dont carry much weight.

I could not get into Left4Dead, Uncharted or Lost Planet because the shooting didnt feel satisfying. Nothing feels as good as RE4/5, Gears 2 comes close.

The lighting and textures is vastly improved from Lost Planet 1. The game is looks like a CG anime on my HDTV.
Lost Planet had so many chances to be AAA. I hope the sequel doesn't screw it up with poor game-play decisions.

Lost Planet easily has my favorite soundtrack this gen.
Yeah, I totally forgot that the CE came with the soundtrack and popped it in a couple days ago. The theme song is probably one of my favorite music pieces from this gen.

Ok guys - as a relatively new 360 owner would you recommend the original? I've glanced at it occasionally but there seemed to be mixed views.

So what's the deal? (in under 100 words).

lost planet is a fun if not hollow action shooter made primarily for the old skool style gamer, it can be found for 10-20 bucks easy, 100 percent worth a shot imo. Very good game if not quite up to dead risings overhaul quality.

I'd go with the Colonies edition. It shouldn't be too much more and it's essentially everything from the original except better in every way(New modes, refined gameplay, more stuff).

Tempted to pick it up again myself.

I finally watched the trailer.

It looks very impressive from a technical standpoint, especially considering it is multiplatform (it will be). 4-player co-op is going to be great.

Wow. So is the single-player campaign is co-op now? That opening scene with the troops rafting in, then fighting in the massive jungle was just epic. Seeing games like this, and others coming out this year, I think these consoles have a lot more power to tap. LP2 just jumped to the top of my most wanted list.

Didn't the trailer say it takes place half a century after LP1?

Not sure I'd want to see Wayne and what'shername.
They'll probably get tossed in as Multiplayer characters though just for kicks.

I'm still a bit disappointed with the announcement even though Lost Planet has been one of my favorite games of the gen. The first thing I want since I first saw the framework engine was Dino Crisis 3 done with it. So I'm kinda hoping after Lost Planet 2 and Dead Rising 2, They take a break from both and make a new gen Dino Crisis and Onimusha or maybe even get them working along side it. Hell, I'd love to see a new REOnline with the RE5 engine.

played the first game's demo and didn't like it; did it accurately represent the full game?

anyone willing to offer an, "if you like _________, you'll like lost planet" statement?

I kind alost any interest in Onimusha after the third game. No Samonosuke no interest.

Is this an X360 exclusieve? Cause it was only on Live?
I think it's unlikely to be fully exclusive, but there's very likely something about the game to be exclusive to X360 given the nature of the reveal.

While it probably makes sense to bring back Onimusha in some form since it was a good seller and always reviewed decently the same can not be said about the Dino Crisis series.

I thought Capcom said they arnt doing exclusieves anymore? :)
If that's the case, they'd probably be right if you're talking about the games themselves (between X360 & PS3), but that doesn't preclude the existence of platform-exclusive features, modes, and DLC.
