Sad to see the horrible DMC4 and RE:UC selling so well, well on a great note at least Okami bombed again.

DMC4 is the most advertised game of this year, behind GTA4. At least in the US.

I guess Capcom's decision to NOT market Okami the second time around....wasn't the ideal solution if they wanted it to SELL.

Out of those all those, I'm interested in knowing what 22 titles Cacpom has planned for the DS...
I wanna know what 27 titles they shipped this past year?! :lol

Oh, and nice to see another Japanese company increasing that PSP support. Bebpo's a soothsayer!

So they're increasing PS3 support and lessening Wii support for the next fiscal year?

brilliant

Hell, RE4 has been so successful they ported it twice, why not port it again to the PS3 and 360 before RE5 comes out? Make it RE4HD and add something like the whole Wesker Files that was in RE:CVX for the PS2.

I totally fucking agree.

We need to take any chance we get to take hats off to Mikami and company for RE4. This project deserves all the sales it gets and I'm so glad it got another chance at life on Wii. Yay!

Quality over quantity!

Oh, who am I kidding. Even Capcom's going to let the Wii die.

is there a megamanfreak on the board like cvxfreak, that collects all the games? i'd like to see a picture of all 120 iterations splayed out.

For the lazy, 2007 market share in japan

1 Nintendo - 28.4%
2 Namco Bandai - 10.6%
3 Square Enix - 10.5%
4 Konami - 7.4%
5 Capcom - 7.0%
6 Sega - 4.2%
7 Pokemon - 3.5%
8 Koei - 3.2%
9 Banpresto - 2.9%
10 SCE - 2.8%

And 2.3 M expectation for RE5 is a bit low to me. I know that RE series is no more that big. But RE4 help a lot on brand awareness, it should sale at least 3M considering the series popularity (which bounce back, thanks to RE4) + user base demographic on both console. Unless Capcom want to mention in their financial result that every game exceed expectation.

olubode said:
In the US, there was little to no adverts for RE4. I can't remember if there were DMC4 ads, but I wouldn't be shocked if there were tons.
No RE4 ads here, 900 DMC4 ads complete with carmina burana movie trailer music lol

DAMN THEM AND THEIR LACK OF OKAMI ADS. Seriously, everyone who I've shown the game to thought it was brilliant and intriguing, and BOUGHT IT. People are turned off by just the wolf in a sea of flowers on the cover, cause they have no idea what to expect from it. MARKET IT DAMNIT. Frig, and then DMC4 gets marketed to high hell too, horrible.

Until recently, I wasn't aware how well Monster Hunter actually sells.
It's going to be such a monster on Wii! It has a huge market appeal imo. Hell, even if i had never played a videogame before, of course I would buy something that makes me hunt DINOSAURS.

The Monster Hunter console games aren't that big. MH Portable though...

Kinda like Pokemon.

After careful analysis of the data and arguments presented in the financial statements as well as the commentary by the clever individuals of this tread, I can really only summarize one conclusion:

We need more Breath of Fire titles, stat.

Wow.

DMC4 > DMC1

RE4Wii = RE0 > RECV

...though actually, I think it's strange they lump DMC4 together on their million sellers chart and not any other multiplatform games? Lost Planet, RECVX, SFA3, SSF2, RE1, RE2, MM2, Aladdin and others should probably combine all versions if DMC4 does imo.
Well DMC4 PS3 sold over a million units by itself, I think it's safe to say that it's about a even split. Still would have liked to see individual numbers, when the game first came out all they said was "DMC4 has sold very well over a million" but refused to say which platform.

Kinf of weird.

Fantastical said:
That makes too much sense. They would rather give us ports of games that sold like shit the first time through.

Uh, Resident Evil Zero did huge numbers everywhere it was released.

I'm pretty sure I have all of the MM games...but they're scattered everywhere.

I didn't buy MM: Battle network 5 for GBA though, as I already had the DS version...

you're wrong. i saw advertisements for the Wii edition of RE4.

YOU LOSE

just throwing it out there.

Seeing one commercial (that nintendo paid for), doesn't really count.

And it's Capcom who loses... and you too.

The-Switcher said:

Correct. We can't jump to conclusions until we know what the titles are. Capcom has pledged some ground-up work for Wii (don't bother me for the link ... this is from vague memory only), and I would never turn up my nose at anything from Capcom. It's not the number but the gravity of titles that really matters.

Wow, I thought Mega Man was going to be the highest selling Capcom franchise, especially with over 100 titles...

One of these better include BoF VI Capcom... :(

Or at least a port/remake of IV. >_>

Who am I kidding...

Capcom's gonna be "testing" the Wii up until WiiHD releases where we will FINALLY get a port of RE5 with Wiimote controls.

You guys do know that these number of titles are _probably_ individual SKUs, and thus include multiple regions, right?

Wii titles of 2007-2008, assuming FY ends March 31:
RE4Wii (3 regions)
Zack and Wiki (3 regions)
RE:UC (3 regions)
Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes (1 region; JPN)
We Love Golf! (1 region; JPN)
Harvey Birdman (1 region; US)
Total = 12; I might be missing something.

If they're not individual regions, I have no idea what they could be?

Is it safe to say that Monster Hunter 3 could push Wii software sales beyond the status quo? It could be the third party Nintendogs.

Capcom released 27 DS games last year? Were they mostly variations of Wantame or something?

11 games, : GBA 1-3, DS 1-4, US 1-4.

Japanese Sales (From Wikipedia:)

gba1 60,000
130,000
ds1 130,000
200,000
gba2 180,000
100,000
ds2 160,000
gba3 170,000
70,000
ds4 520,000
ds3(guess) 160,000

Total 1.88m

US Sales 920,000 total.

I love the series, but there is NO WAY IN HELL that the game sold 920,000 for the USA.

It makes sense if it sold 920k for all the western markets it is way too much for the USA alone.
