Future support:

Q: In response to sales results of "Ultra Street Fighter II", I would like to ask about the policy for responding to Nintendo Switch in the future.

A: The Nintendo Switch is very strong and I expect it to spread in the future. We are considering future response including "Monster Hunter Double Cross Nintendo Switch Ver." Planned to be introduced in August.

From the their earnings results for the 1st quarter FY3/2018.

①Digital Contents business
In this business, although the first quarter corresponds to the market’s off-season in terms of the launch cycle for major titles, Ultra Street Fighter II (for Nintendo Switch), which was released in May 2017, made an excellent start and proved to be a smash hit. In addition, Resident Evil 7 biohazard (for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC) and Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) (for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems) contributed to revenue to a certain extent.

The resulting net sales were 7,688 million yen (up 14.1% from the same term in the previous year) and operating income was 1,676 million yen (compared with an operating income of 8 million yen for the same term in the previous year).

Update:

It looks like 450k units of USF2 were shipped.

Far right column, 1 SKU and we know USF2 was the only game released between Wii, Wii U and Switch.

Update 2:

Don't know if posted yet :

Capcom: 450K is 1Q figure for Ultra Street Fighter II, above its expectation. Also "starting to prepare" multiple Switch-version titles.

I'm not a knowledgeable guy regarding sales-age compared to others here, so I really didn't see this coming.

Its all about expectations - they probably needed like 100k copies for it to be a success and shipped 3-4 times as much. The next good performing Switch 3rdParty title.

Next stop RE4....lawl.

Meh, any number could be a smash hit depending on the budget and expectations.
What exactly is meh about that ? Thats how it works for every game publishers.

Would've sold more if it was actually any good, tho I imagine the low effort/budget nature is what helped it be profitable.

Wonder if this means anything since it seems like they had 0 plans to support Switch with anything meaningful

I'm more than happy to portbeg the shit of resident evil 4... But only because it's probably coming anyway.

I don't think the game sold gangbusters, but I could believe it sold alright considering its price...Does this mean Capcom actually had realistic expectations? Niiiice.

So, you're telling me cheap ports sold at full price sell well on Switch? Hey, Capcom, maybe you've got another cheap port for Switch in development. A port of some 3DS game, maybe. Wouldn't it be swell if you released that in the west?

Watch the next "test" be a port of Spyborgs....lawl. Who the hell need MHXX HD in the west when we could play a failed Wii game instead xD

They are definitely more happy with this result than the SFV one before that's for sure.

Seems like it.

Does this mean they'll actually care and update the game in a sensible way?

I'd love to see a real sequel to the old school game.

I notice that as of June, RE6 HD is up to 1.1 million from 1 million, while RE7 is up to 3.7 million from last quarter's 3.5 million.

RE4 HD and RE5 HD do not appear to have crossed a million copies sold yet. Which is interesting.
