Capcom's DEEP DOWN was the most impressive thing shown @ PS4 event

Looks pretty fantastic. Animation was canned as all fuck though. Dunno whether or not it was "rendered in real time on PS4 equivalent HW," but that wasn't some dude playing, movements were too subtle, natural and fluid. Still looked fuck awesome.
 
I want to believe, but then I remember people pointing out the pop-in in the KZ2 render as evidence that it was real.

Also remember the first MGS4 trailer. I'm sure Konami believed they could make that level of graphics for the whole game when they showed it, but then they had to downgrade it.

I think this is actually a good comparison. A lot of people are calling this a CG video trying to trick us into believing it's a game. I'm in the camp that believes this is in engine stuff, just like the first MGS4 video. The first Killzone 2 video looked nothing like a actual video game. You could tell from the beginning because it was just too perfect. It didn't have the usual flaws that you would find in a real game. This looks like a game, one that they built using development tools and not a movie they made to try and fool us. Sure it may end up downgraded, but it's still not CG movie a la the first Killzone and Motorstorm videos.
 
Imagine a Dark Souls with these kind of graphics... oh my sweet heaven

On a serious note, to temper my absolute believer mood since yesterday, i would remember Capcom showed real time demos for RE4 on GC and RE5 on PS3 that were downgraded after that.

But honestly, we're talking 8gig of ddr5 here.. Should be enough..

While I expect next-gen to have a much better IQ, the leap in animations is something that doesn't require much more prosessing power, but much more scripting and effort. Especially for a third party. The demo was simply too fluid to be gameplay, with no transitions that showed there is a human controlling the on screen character.

In short, I call fake.
 
Looks like souped up downsampled Dark Souls with some fucking amazing fire and animations.

If this is possible to come close in real time, even when the animations are super scripted for this (boss?) fight, I'd salivate. Hard.

If this game isn't total shit, then I'll buy it no matter what, target render or cutscene or whatever, I don't care, I love me some fire, swords and dragons.

WTF guys suddenly everyone forgot who's Capcom ? It's not like they have been the animation kings for the last 15 years...

It's not gameplay. They never said it was gameplay. It was a demo of their next gen engine running in real time (which it was). So not "fake" at all.
 
Face it guys: they obviously bought the Cold Fear IP from Ubisoft and this is a prequel to that game.

Game looks pretty fucking impressive to say the least.

Dragon's Dogma was amazing. imagine the same team working on new hardware, giving you perfect control over your avatar in a dynamic world. add ruthless Demon's/Dark Souls encounters to give us the perfect medieval fantasy game. after decades of weak gameplay mechanics in the same genre, we deserve to have these games.

i know Capcom can do it. don't be afraid to go all out with this one.

Lol at demon soul fans, Apparently according to them Demon souls invented medieval dudes in armor fighting dragons in caves.
 
It is amazing, it's not getting the attention it deserves because it's not an exclusive but my god man it looks amazing.

The faces, the animation, the fire effects, I was blown awaaaeeeee

I don't know about you guys

but I'm pretty sick of medieval fantasy settings myself

I've actually never been into that setting at all. I have almost no interest in this game; I just clicked to see what sort of wild claims OP would make about this. It does look nice graphically, but Watch_Dogs looks far more interesting to me.
 
Those first few shows look like some Skyrim ENB lol.

No doubt the game looks good though. The most impressive thing about it were the animations, and those were very obviously pre canned.

Visually I would probably say Agni Philosophy looked better. At least I thought the character models did. Again, this is just another tech demo in the same vein, just scripted to make it seem like a gameplay experience.
 
I'd take a hard-core, medieval fantasy dungeon-crawler, for sure.

But that computer screen at the end of the demo seemed to hint that it was all just a meta-game...which is cool as well I guess.

I think this is Capcom's response to Assassins Creed.
 
If that was real time then holy shit, hol-ee shit. If they can realize what they were showing and build it around that idea of survival/fear/bravery, that could be a system seller.

It's much like the aliasing you see in the cinematic depth of field portions of The Witcher 2. There's also some temporal aliasing in the distance that indicates a post-process AA solution,

It may not all be real-time, but it seems like parts of it are.

Everything is real time. Anybody who watched the presentation will certainly have heard the Capcom guy saying how they are developing the engine and the game at the same time, and this was all in engine footage.

So yes, it's all real time.

I mean, obviously the video was not produced in real-time, the question is whether that visual quality is achievable in real time or not.
 
Resident Evil 5 was the most visually impressive game I had seen up til that point based on screenshots and controlled demos. I don't really trust Capcom anymore, but that trailer was pretty boss.
 
Looked so good that I'm skeptical of its reality.

It also made me aware of my growing fear that now that realistic human faces are possible, we won't see as much stylization in characters, which would be a fucking bummer.

It's clearly real time(like Unreal 4), whether that means that the final game will look exactly like that or not it's up in the air. But I don't understand the amount of skepticism, people had low hopes for next gen I guess.

Whether or not it can actually be produced using the PS4 hardware is another question. That may very well have been produced using a high end PC.
 
What makes people think this is anything like Demons Souls other than the setting?

From the footage shown I'm also definitely leaning towards real time, unless they went through the trouble of making the trailer with the focus of faking real time (talking about the feel of the trailer here, not just the UI).
