I had a cool realization with the eyes spider-man has. The "helps him focus" when he uses his powers bit basically means there is no reason for him to randomly tear off his mask as seems to happen in the past Spidey films.

I'd love to see a better look at his homemade outfits though..

Maybe I'm missing something, but how did that truck bomb leap three stories and kill T'Chaka?
This is a picture from the Oklahoma City bombing. A truck bomb similar to the one shown in the movie was used there. They are pretty powerful and the one used in Oklahoma was fairly primitive.

I feel like what they're doing with Spidey here is potentially worse than anything Sony has done with the character. Instead of Spidey being his own independent hero, he is Tony Stark's pet project and lapdog. Of course the Spider-Man solo film will need to come out before we can come to a more complete judgement of MCU Spidey, but it probably doesn't bode well that RDJ is signed up to appear in that.

What is his power? Is it the costume? Is it that he’s been training like Jason Bourne?

JOE RUSSO: It’s a combination of everything. Certainly the costume gives him a level of protection and invulnerability because of the material that it’s made of.

ANTHONY RUSSO: Which is vibranium, for non-fans, and it’s the same material that Cap’s shield is made of.

JOE: It can absorb the energy, so it’s much harder to damage him as a character, and you can see that in the movie he can take a lot of punishment including bullets to the face. He is very well trained. He’s from one of the wealthiest countries on the planet, so there’s great infrastructure there; very technologically advanced country. So he’s been trained at the highest levels to fight, but he also has his own superpowers, which derive from the mythology of his nation. Those will be explored more in Black Panther, it’s clearly evident when he’s able to fight the Winter Soldier out of costume, and go toe-to-toe with him, that he is an enhanced individual.

Not sure that we needed it, but BP is confirmed enhanced.

A big reason why the films and the tv shows intersect in one direction is that the pace of development is wildly different. They plan the movies two-four years out from debut and the TV shows in the same year that they run.

The TV shows are much more agile as a result.

Also there's the inter-office drama where certain folks hate each other, but I think the scheduling is just as big an issue.

probably just setting peter up to have an internship at stark industries

The only negatives is the Vision/Scarlet witch thing could have been done more subtle and smoother. And I think the bunker fight went on way longer than it needed to.

Well, I guess that's that.

Zemo killed a lot of people then.

Best superhero action definitely, but personally my favorite action in the movie was Cap & Bucky vs the German police + the car chase

Yo I started feeling bad for the German dudes.

Man the subtle but amazing ways folks used their powers. Falcon's wings were amazing, and Bucky using his arm like a shield.

And how everyone landed like a ton of bricks but BP just lands with a "Swoosh"

That might have been my favorite fight. Vision's phasing through and around Hawkeye was great. Then Wanda comes in with the whammy.

Like he had to be breaking ribs slamming those guys with cinderblock and the battering ram

The fight or their relationship starting to develop?

Personally loved both separately. The fact that the movie leaves Vision in a really scary place is awesome. He's struggling to find the limits of his power and his humanity. It can't feel good for him to do what he did to Wanda and Rhodes.

Wanda, I feel like we just got a proper X-Men story without them actually using the word mutant. Very interesting to consider what state of mind she'll be in after being freed.

But together I feel like they could have done more. They both had interesting parts to play but I feel like there was some major dialogue scene between the two that got cut out of the airport fight before Rhodey went down.

Seen the movie twice now and both times the Bucky motorcycle grab got a huge gasp from the audience.

Good stuff.

Russo Brothers are the fucking men when it comes to comic-booky shit that looks awesome.

I mean I'm a DC guy, but nothing in Batman v Superman comes close to the awesome that is Ant-Man's glee at turning into Giant Man. I'm not even a huge fan of this film, but that put a stupid grin on my face. Sure you can say they forced Ant-Man into the film...

... but it was just so much fun to see that character having the time of his life hanging around with other superheroes.

relationship. Not a huge thing but you can tell some stuff was cut.

Just came back from a second viewing. Still preeety good.

I liked Johansson's role more this time, and could appreciate her character and some lines that I missed. And RDJ, damn, he just fucking brings it. How good is he? Great chemistry with Holland, and top notch delivery and emotion.

Oh, and yeah the stairwell fight needs more love. I love that dynamic between disabling and saving the special ops team by Cap, but you could tell the mothefucker wasn't really trying that hard to stop Bucket either; he was holding back, but someone pointed a gun at him and suddenly he found hisself through a fucking wall.

Aren't you so glad they took the time to dedicate a scene just to have one of the Dora milaje talking shit to Widow? So good.

Every moment with T'Challa was a 'go fuck yourself' to anyone who might have a problem with the character or the idea of Wakanda. So good. Just absolutely matter of fact and 'this is how it is, if you don't like it we don't give a shit.'

The hallway fight IMO really showed how skilled Bucky is and what he is capable of doing.

Yeah, before that you saw people making the excuse that he fights like a damn machine because he basically was one. Then in Civil War he immediately shows how capable he really is when thinking clearly.

The best part was after the explosion when he's sitting with Black Widow and talking about how people in Wakanda view death, and Black Widow thinks it's so sweet and peaceful, and he's like "But I am not my father" and just walks away

Okay so got Ant-man scene Gif'd, Bucky and Falcon smiling at Cap and Agent 13 sucking throats, has anybody capture the Airport fight or Vision / Hawkeye kitchen fight?

That sequence (the stairwell fight) was the closest the movie came to the intimate action of the elevator escape and Nick Fury's street assassination attempt in The Winter Soldier. While I still like the elevator scene as an individual sequence better... I think a really wild thing to consider is that Civil War has the stairwell scene and the Black Panther car chase, which are great at showing the Russos' command of the more grounded, traditional action, but also has the airport fight which outclasses a lot of similar sequences in the prior Avengers films at attempting full-scale CGI spectacle.

A lot of flak in the criticisms of this one are due to the difficulty in mixing the two kinds of scenes tonally and visually, and that's a fair point to make, but the fact that both were accomplished at such a high level at all is so commendable. The stunt teams, choreography, the writing in the action beats, the cinematography, visual effects artists, these areas of the movie all really deserve to be recognized, they are just top of the line.

This is no perfect film or anything close to it, but what kills me about the issues people have singled out is just how much the grading curve has evolved as far as what we expect from these movies. It's so easy for me to remember when I would have refused to believe such a movie would ever exist and how much of an idiot I felt like after seeing the end credits of Iron Man 1, running around trying to convince people "you don't get it! They're going to do a thing! there's going to be ALL THE SUPERHEROES" and now we're already at the point of "yep, the Civil War movie's out now, Doctor Strange is up next." Blows my mind. That this movie is even good at all, blows my mind.

Cap was the only comic I really read much of (and not that much tbh) so I wouldn't say I was a Marvel or DC guy. In my mind having great DC movies and great Marvel movies would be the best possible scenario..

Love the movie but damn this series needs more Michael Pena!

Seconded.

I've seen people in this thread want the Netflix heroes to come into the fray. Er... why? Daredevil and even Jessica Jones are both extremely underpowered compared to most of the heroes, especially compared to Spiderman. Daredevil can't beat a couple of ninas, what makes y'all think he can handle going toe to toe against Cap?

Iron fist is quite ridiculously powerful, he'd oneshot every single one of the avengers aside from thor/hulk. And with oneshot I mean death. He'd also be able to tank a few hits from hulk/thor without a scratch

Just give him a movie instead of low budget tv show nonsense, marvelplssh

I was about scream "No Natasha you don't want them problems"

Yeah It was nice to have a character was so sure of what they were doing, but at the same time was open to evolving.

Can't wait until the movie
