Captain America: Civil War SPOILER Thread - #TeamThanos

In comic terms it look like they spent about 20 bucks and a home depot gift card on Crossbones. Is he better than taht?

He does some cool shit, but you can tell his endgame wasn't to beat Cap, but to suicide bomb and take him out.

Though tbh even if Wanda hadn't fucked up, they had the Accords ready to rock and roll. It just forced the issue and it brings BP into play

I guess Hydracare doesn't cover the Deathlok upgrade

I remember in the post-credit scene thinking, where the hell an on-the-run Cap getting this tech from, then it pans out to show BP and I was like...oh...OH!

The more I think about it, there is a LOT of accountability going around in the movie.
Crossbones pretty much hates cap for what he did to him
Zemo hates the Avengers for what they did
The accords happen because of what Wanda did and failed to do
Tony takes his stance because he feels accountable for what the Avengers did
Edit: oh and Buckys stuff too

It's definitely a crew that him and Fury put together..it makes sense. The part that I feel folks kind of gloss over is the fact that the airport scene pretty much proves that these guys need to be wrangled. I think Cap had that realization as soon as Ant-Man started going a little wild..his face was hilarious.

Yeah the airport scene gets WAY out of hand. Scott is a dumbass. So is Spidey too, holy shit

I'd also like to officially state that War Machine is a fucking idiot and deserved to get paralyzed. Why would you tell Vision to shoot at Falcon when he's right behind you?!

LOL..yeah, just didn't mention him since he's on the "right" side of things. Tony CLEARLY saw the same issue with the kid and told his ass to tap out. Between the apartment building scene (which was REALLY well done, btw) and the airport..Cap really soured me. He felt so out of character. I'm not saying I don't understand his motivations, it's just all seemed so selfish and it fucked with me a bit.

I actually figured I'd change teams by the end. Instead, I was even more on Tony's side. Don't get me wrong..fuck Ross. Just saying..

No Hulk references from him.
He does mention Hulk and Thor being unaccounted for..

Qustion: Is there a new method through which Tony puts on his armour? There's been one every movie he's appeared in, was hoping this continued.

I thought that was a water truck!

Yo wait, did MCU just lose Crossbones because they made him a suicide bomber jobber?

I want my Red Menace movie dangit.

Funny thing is, this movie made me lean on Tony's side, but I don't think Steve was out of character.

What happened was essentially an eventuality. The worse things got, the more stubborn Steve got. It happened in Winter Soldier too, but he was on the right side then.

[snip]

Tony wasn't even on Tony's side at the end of this. He regretted the Raft, he admits he was wrong about Bucky (before it got personal) and he ignores Ross at the end.

Cap saw it all coming; I understood Tony's motivation, they showed that well but after the way the Avengers who don't sign are treated, I don't think ANYONE was Team Iron Man.

Yeah. Probably a better way to look at it. I think the difference between the two movies is selflessness/selfishness..

Disagree about Tony. He's still is who he is. Obviously, the Raft was something that changed his view a bit seeing his friends locked up, but let's not go nuts. He calls out Hawkeye for trying to pin everything on him (he was another character that seemed odd to me. Specifically in that scene). There was also nothing unreasonable about Wanda laying low for a bit. Shit..it's how they ended up at Hawk's house in AoU! They all out put themselves in that position..

The conductor of this crazy train is Steve. He didn't see it all coming. He was laser focused on his friend and only his friend. At every turn, they only seemed to prove Ross correct (even if we know he's a shit stain and has ulterior motives). The incident in the apartment and the airport situation is proof enough.

Again, do I understand? A bit..sure. Were they getting a bad rap because of Crossbones and his sneaky bomb? No doubt. But Cap was on some other shit. Breaking the backs and bones of police officers just doing their job because 💑 daw! Yeah..just bugged me. And you could tell it was bugging him too..

I'm not following you, Steve was not going to allow Bucky to be shot on sight per orders particularly when he knew the things he did were not of his own volition. If you think that is wrong, then we disagree there - no one was looking to bring Bucky in, they wanted him dead, without a trial. Hell even BP was a chump on this; I think it's this guy, let's kill him. That is what the sanctioned government action was- not sure how anyone could be FOR that.

And while Steve was focused on his friend, he also made clear his stance on the accords, which he never wavered from.

Tony calling out Hawkeye is typical Tony arrogance; basically "you didn't listen to me so you're in jail".

I think the only ones that really ended up OK with the accords were Vision, Rhodes and to a lesser extent Tony. BP isn't waiting on a UN council to make a move and neither is Spidey. Black Widow switched sides and Team Cap is in the wind.

How was Panther a chump? According to the evidence, EVERYONE thought it was Bucky. Steve was just being Steve when it comes to him..he wasn't some clairvoyant.

He was about to sign it while talking to Tony alone. Pen scene.

Guess we see this differently.

Don't know about that..

Captain America should've been shot in the goddamn face but Tony gave him some leeway

This led to them destroying an airport

Cap is a fucking dick who hates flying

nope. good thing too, that line was cheesy as fuck in the trailers

Yeah, agreed.

Wonder if it's from a deleted scene or if it was just recorded for the trailer. I almost feel like it's for the trailer since the line is shit and the delivery is almost as bad.

Again, then trailers are quite deceptive. Different lines. Delivery and tone being quite different. Actually pretty great because it makes the movie more surprising..

Steve knew from the Winter Soldier that Bucky had some stuff done to him - clairvoyance not necessary. Plus assuming guilt = guilt is absolutely NOT the way you'd want things to work, right? Movie was too packed to do anything more with BP, but I don't think anybody would want superheroes, assuming guilt and assassinating based on that assumption. I mean isn't that what the accords were supposed to stop from happening, yet the government issued that order here.

He wavered till he considered the consequences, but this is a small point I'll concede he "wavered".

Don't know about that..

Unless Spidey's stand alone movie occurs in the 6 months prior he stated that he had his powers, he'd need a UN sanction to take any action - so either it's a prequel or vastly different than I would expect. Not saying it's not possible, just not likely.
