THAT MOTHERFUCKER RUINED MY PODCAST

Also I hope they learn really hard on the 'Aunt May knows stuff but just lets it play out' thing because I'm pretty sure she knows and is just playing coy

I've had way more than enough of teenage spider-man, I didn't need it from the MCU too.

Spider-Man being a teenager is like, his thing, though... Especially when you're working in a universe that has all kinds of superheroes at this point, you want each new one you introduce to feel distinct and unique. Having a teenage Peter will really set up an interesting contrast when he's alongside Tony and Steve and the rest of these guys.

Plus, the MCU is going to be going on for a fucking while, and I'm sure Marvel intends for Spider-Man to be a main staple of it for a very long time. I imagine they'd like Holland to stay on even longer than Downey has at this point. I totally expect that if these films are successful, which I'm sure they will be, we'll eventually see Holland grow into adult Peter.

The vast majority of Spider-Man's existence outside of the films has been in full adulthood.

That contrast already exists in the comics though without him being in highschool.

Sure. But it's still a defining trait of the character. Leaving highschool out of Peter's story would almost be like leaving WWII out of Cap's.

But, I mean, it isn't? Ben/Gwen dying sure but the former isn't even being revisited so why keep this? There's no value in it and adult spider-man is infinitely more interesting anyway.

This is your opinion though. I don't consider Maguire/Garfield 'teens' so that aspect is still unexplored to me. And I'd much rather have a film about a teenage spidey then an adult one.

I want a movie where Tony Stark is Peter Parker's helicopter parent along with Manic Pixie Dream Girl Aunt May

I also want a scene where they both walk in on Peter working on webs, where Tony knows what's going on but May just thinks he's jerkin' it

WHILE LEFT HAND FREE IS PLAYING

Both Maguire and Garfield have two films each under 20 starting from iirc the 11th/12th grade. So regardless of what you consider... it is teen Spider-man largely.

Both were in their mid-to-late 20s when they filmed their first Spider-Man film. That's not a teenager.

The Peter Parkers they were playing were both in the middle of highschool. They were playing teenagers.

Maguire was a senior, Garfield was never mentioned IIRC, but regardless he looked far too old to be in high school.

You might be able to swing Garfield as being a 'teenager' even though he clearly wasn't in real life but Maguire was easily meant to be early 20s. 19 at the youngest.

19 at the youngest? Doesn't SM1 open with him trying to catch a school bus to get to his highschool

Maguire is meant to be a senior in SM1. I'm not from the US but I just looked up how old a senior is and it's 17-18, so yeah 19 is me talking out my ass lol. I think my problem is that Maguire and Garfield look to old for their roles in my eyes.

Holy fuck that was amazing. I can't wait to see this on Friday.
.

You haven't seen the film and yet you watched that?

As I mentioned before, to those has not seen any trailers/spoilers will have a better experience than us. I felt like there are some scenes they shouldn't have shown.

Yeah I love spoilers. It pisses my friends off but I love knowing about stuff before I watch it.

For most movies and shows, I don't mind spoilers. Hence me being here or seeking out Walking Dead episode summaries. But video games and books. I absolutely don't want to spoiled

I felt giddy watching the Spider-Man AND Peter Parker scenes, really well done. I love the rapport and interactions with the other characters. Definitely a highlight of the film for me. Ant-Man felt tacked on, but having had his own solo movie unlike the others, it was forgivable how he was put into the mix.

Also, Black Widow's fight scenes were ACE. They felt full of IMPACT and the choreography was simply amazing.

Saw it, good movie. Spiderman and Black Panther are the highlights. Zemo is your typical unmemorable Marvel movie villain. Ironman and Cap get the most screentime out of anyone, but all the heroes do get at least one scene to shine.

The general tone is Winter Soldier 2.0, except for the airport fight and the stuff with Spidey, which is so good but honestly feels like it's airlifted in from another movie because it's so much more jokey than the rest of the film.

Everyone freaking the F out about Tony making Spidey's suit can relax, it's barely a plot point in the movie. Seriously, Spiderman's in the thing for like 15-20 minutes max, though he steals every scene he's in. Even gets to go at it against Cap in the big airport showdown.

One of the best exchanges of the film... "You got spirit, kid. Where you from?"
"Queens..."
(Cap smiles.) "Brooklyn."

There was a video posted on YouTube of Spidey's fight with Falcon and Bucky, but it seems to be taken down now. :(

Spidey's music in this movie kinda sounds like Hans Zimmer's motif for him from ASM2.

Just saw it, thought it was great. Still think Spiderman's suit looks pretty stupid though, Garfield's looked much, much better. Overall, he was really good though. I think I'm an odd one who actually really liked The Amazing Spiderman movies though, and I don't know if he quite beats Garfield for me yet.

Also, saw the movie in Korea - we had both the BP and SM credit clips.
