Is lords of shadow 1 a required play? I would sorrt of rather wait for that one to be heavily discounted and jump in feet first with this release.

It would be good if you did, but it's not required. LoS2 does a good job with getting players up to speed.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound condescending. I was assuming you meant the bizarre policies on Steam which we have been often criticized for which is specifically related to the fact that individual branches of the company handle their own market, that's all.

Don't worry about it. I have a habitual problem of taking offense when none is intended. I guess I just need some thicker skin...

Lords of Shadow 1 is a great game if you like character action/puzzle/adventure games, or the original level-based linear games(1, 3, 4, Rondo of Blood, Bloodlines).

Loaded up my long delayed run of Castlevania 3 today and managed to beat a boss that I;ve been stuck on forever.

Wish I would have picked it up when I was a kid. Game would have blown my mind and it still looks damn good.

Anyways, since I'm on stage 7 I might try and beat it in the next few weeks.

Been having Castlevania on the brain all day.

Err..what do you mean by this one? The platforming? If yes, okay that's fine. If other stuff. then uhh...explain please. I'm not a fan of Prince of Persia.

That boss fight or whatever it was seems bizarre, I haven't watched a video yet but it can take 2 hours if you don't know the trick/exploit?

Anyways, one more day of work between me and the game. Excited!

Just played the demo and im shocked at how awful this game is....it seems like nobody really put any thought into it.

-all your moves are so flashy and the camera is so far away that 60% of the time you cant see enemies telegraph their attacks.

-Pretty terrible visual design, the titans arm looks like you should be able to climb up the whole thing but nope, you have to search for that tiny gold dots...WTF?

I played a bit of LoS 1 and dont remember these issues with that game, this is totally a disappointing step backwards.

Very excited recently completed the first on pc after having it on the 360 for so long but never getting around to it (i'm just slack and yes i'm the kind of person that would be more motivated buying a game on a new platform... rather than completing it on a platform i already have it on).

The combat in this game is great, it will click when you play the game more. Regarding visual design, it will get better and at the same time it will get worse.

Couldn't wait two whole hours, could you?

I had no problem seeing the enemies telegraph their attacks, in fact if the camera was closer, the enemies would be off screen and then you really wouldn't see their obvious tells. Nor did I have any problem climbing the titan. Maybe you need to sit closer to the TV?

My review: 8/10.

While I'm not prone to defending a game post-review, I feel like there'll be a certain acrimony by those who find it truly difficult to play. With the exception of one stealth section that didn't make sense as to why it was in the game that took me 30-45 minutes to complete (long play session, I think), the gameplay itself was quite enjoyable.

Dat Pat Stew and Robb Stark!

Edge 4/10

The first Lords Of Shadow is remembered as a commendable achievement from a relatively small team working to a comparatively tight budget. Its sequel, by contrast, cannot disguise the resources with which it was made. Lords Of Shadow 2 is clunky, ugly and deeply misguided. It’s a game that sees the lord of the damned as a vehicle for rat-powered linear stealth, and that takes a future-Gothic London setting and then sets the action in tower blocks and sewers. MercurySteam says this will be the final game in the Lords Of Shadow saga, and on the evidence of this cluttered, bloated and forgettable mess, it’s just as well.

Yeesh, this is all over the place.

Is it me (it's probably totally not), but do character action games suffer the most from wildly-varying opinions out of all the genres? There seems to be less consensus over its games, especially critical reception of Wonderful 101.

Eurogamer 5/10

Sharpening the disappointment is the fact that the team at MercurySteam has already made a good game, and perhaps had an opportunity here to make a great one. The first Lords of Shadow was a sweet surprise. The follow-up is a hostage to a story it tells badly, and a prisoner within a dull urban maze that refuses to become a characterful exploratory playground. To live on but to be diminished - that's the fate of the vampire in Castlevania's lore. Sadly, it's a bit of an epitaph for this well-meaning but bloated game as a whole.

I've played the ps3 version for 5 hours. Those low scores... I don't know what they are smoking.

It's a big improvement over the first in every area. You can see the huge ammount of work and passion that went into this.

Early on, you're given a heavy-handed shock moment: anything but basic control is wrested from you - always a killer sign that you're about to be blown away by a video game - and Dracula finds himself in some poor family's presence, facing a terrified mum, dad and child, and hungry for claret. Dracula duly feasts and is restored to youthful vigour but, for all the obvious attempts to build an incident that will stick with you, the whole sequence is not particularly memorable or effective. It's too much, too early, with too little meaningful context, and it's confused by a distinct hint of sexuality to the violence that the game's not capable of addressing in any meaningful or adult manner. (At least this meshes with the rest of the adventure, which unfailingly hands out many of its most graphic punishments to female baddies.)

Really Eurogamer? Didn't we just get over this? I used to love EG's reviews but the past year or so they've gone really downhill.

did they get that one usgamer person to guest review? :p

I'm reading the reviews and I have the feeling that some of them don't know what they are talking about or they have a secret agenda.

At the end of the day maybe the game is not as good as we expected or maybe it is, but something smell bad with some reviews.

I expect this thread to be on fire once people get over the first phase of grief and start insulting reviewers.

Not to take a shit on this game or anything but,

If a game gets a lower score than the average people rage at those reviewers but why no one criticizes a review with a higher than average score when most of the others reviews are lukewarm at best? (The only time i've seen this happen is when is a big franchise and everyone says it's a paid review)

I've said it before I think I have a feeling in 2014 reviewers are going to have less and less patience which these big 20+ hour AAA experiences which require skill to get through.

irresponsible vagina leak
I think the its not Castlevania virus caught up with reviewers after reading fan reactions of LOS1 on the internet.

It's up via PSN, although I had to manually search for it. The normal page didn't work.

If you already pre-ordered, search for it and then you should be able to download it for free and THEN it will be added to your download list. It didn't getting added to my download list or start automatically.
