it has been proven and shown in research that if you do not support your child in his her decision(about their sexuality/gender), regardless of how young you might find it to be, it could lead to a higher suicide rate during their teenage years. it might be a fase, it might be something they are, the thing is, your job as a parent is to support them and keep them from self harm.

This is very much the manifestation of unadulterated nihilism (having no values as the sole value). I feel bad for kids growing up these days; innocence has been completely thrown out of the window, and they are growing up in a insane world, wrecked by all kinds of harmful "ideologies". It may sound egotistical, but I'm glad I have no children.

This is a double edged sword here.

What kind of harm are they going to do to themselves, when they aren’t the cute prepubescent child anymore and that’s all they know?

If my kid says “Dad, I’m going to meet this guy from the Internet and if you don’t let me I’ll kill myself”

Which is the less harm?

Don't even think about talking to kids about sex, but if it's about being gay - or they want their genitalia switched around (for what reason??) THEN HELL YEH GET THAT KID WOKE

Does that matter? These kids didn't find this shit out on their own. It's obviously the parents pushing it on them.

The biggest issue is that Drag culture is a culture built out of gay night club culture fueled by sex and drugs.
This isnt just dress up. This isn't your gay son deciding to wear a sun dress.

This is your prepubescent child dressing up to resemble a style derived from sex, drugs, and partying to 6am.

Are we gonna get "BDSM Kids" next?

Is it Ok for my 6 year old to experiment with his sexuality by wearing a ball-gag on his school trip?

Is my local library gonna have a leather daddy come for story time?

I think for most cases especially with schools who suddenly use group pressure or parents who seek attention/the next progressive hip thing... its like with a women who has a vegan cat "by its own choice"... everyone knows who really makes the decision.
The whole childs choice thing needs to be actually that and not just a excuse for progressive pissing contests among parents.

This is all perfectly normal. Nothing to see here bigots. Letting my drag queen child dance in a gay strip club is none of your business.
So Is Better pageants Kids?

Remember those days when kids used to go out and simply enjoy their childhood playing with others?

Forget that, let's make a show about Drag Kids instead.

This is sick, both parent wise, company wise and any possible part involved in this.

Kids can't live as kids anymore.

In order to be "inclusive", some people decided to normalize pretty much everything.

You gotta ask yourself, would these kids develop something like this without external influence? I mean, like adults literally asking them to do it? It's the internet, it's the need for attention, it's social media screwing peoples' mind.

Of course, It's criminal to sexualize kids like this.

It's gay, so it's OK.

Imagine having a 10 year old girl dressed up as a whore, dancing in a sexy way, in front of straight men. Would that be the worst thing ever in your mind? Solution: Just turn the little girl into a little drag boy and the straight men into gay men. Now it's progressive.

This is just another double standard of the progressive left.

I don't think so to be honest and I don't think it's right to presume this.

I'm a gay guy and I find it absolutely apalling.

As far as I'm concerned it's not a gay issue at all, it's a child issue in general. I don't like any of these type of pagents drag or not drag and neither do a lot of people.

Well, how about we start to argue on how much the current media landscape influences his/her decision to begin with? IIRC we still do not fully understand how sexuality is formed so this is absolutely a valid question.

the minority are loud and annoying, grossly influencing the majority, who remain silent 'allies'

seems pretty tilted and fucked up right now
But we need to remember that they are the minority at the end of the day.

Twitter and platforms like that has given the perception that everyone feels the same way because 1 of these nutters will post 20 times about the same thing. Slowly people are starting to work this out including developers etc but I think it's important to remember no matter how loud the temper tantrum is they ARE the minority.

A minority of people are ok with it I would say just like a minority of people are ok with regular child pagents.
I agree with you about this being a minority issue, but how has a minority gotten to the point where they want to show this stuff on national broadcasted TV and play it off as completely normal?

You look at those dance mom shows and think "wow this is weird". I don't think anyone watches that show seriously and I don't think the show was made to glorify that culture, rather to shine a light on how fucked up it is.

CBC on the other hand has made a series sexualizing children pretending this is normal and should be an acceptable thing to be broadcasted across the country. It's not a "hey look at how fucked up this is" tv show because that of course would be transphobic and wouldn't reflect the liberal values of what should be our unbiased network. Looking at the like to dislike ratio, the posters is this thread, and my friends I have sent this to, everyone seems to agree this is wrong. So yes, the minority thinks this is okay but somehow they greenlit a tv show about it and now here we are.

And obviously, there is nothing wrong with being trans. If it truly makes you happy then you should live your life as you see fit. But sexualizing trans children (or any children) is vile and I will never be okay with the minority trying to tell us otherwise.

I am not a parent, but it strikes me as wrong to mold your kids based on your own ideology, religion, social hangups and political tendencies. Kids will always be effected by their enviornment, which their parents are a significant part of. However, parents should try and let their kids find their own way, let them go through phases and teach them the lifeskills to know what is right and wrong, bounce back from hardships and so on. Kids are influenced and affected plenty enough without their parents direct intervention and manipulation into how they think and feel and what causes and movements they support.

There is also a spectrum to these things. While I question if these kids were influenced by their parents or not, the way they talk about drag being a performance art, makes it sound like that drag is more like glee club cosplay or being a glittery alterego than being deeply imbeeded psychological in needing to wear clothes of the opposite sex. Kids go through phases, experiment and have vivid imaginations. These kids are not where my concern are. These kids act like kids at auditions or kids who are into other performance arts. There are millions of these kids all over their world. There are also millions of kids who are being groomed in other ways (like sport or fitness related) that are arguable bad for them as well.

My concern is when I see kids who are indoctrinated into religious cult camps. It's when I see kids who are massively obese. It's when I see kids at demonstrations with cosplay suicide bombs strapped to their bodies to prove a point. Its when I see kids used in political ads for guns and abortion (for both the left and the right). Millions and millions of parents cannot let their kids be kids. They have to impose all their shit on them and let them suffer.

It weakens them and doesnt give them the chance to find their true selves because they are being molded by the battles by their parents. It shows disprect and abuse and stilts their growth to become their own person. Forcing them to go to church, passing on your bad eating and lifestyle habits. It will literally shorten their life, set them up for a lifetime of struggles and cause them physiological and mental problems.

Your kids are not your friends. They are not your fucking allies. You are their guardian. You need to equip them to be able to be independent and survive. Not to carry on your stupid fucking battles.

I'm not too familiar with American TV but would they air regular child beauty pageants?

Either way I assume CBC are doing it specifically for the controversy surrounding it. People are talking about this and reality TV fucking sucks for this reason and I agree with everything you say but It's not like I cannot understand why they did it.

It's controversial so even disgusted people are gonna watch it just to complain. Wait for it on Twitter.

Don't know if they air child beauty pageants on TV, I am Canadian but I don't think I've ever seen one. There's a bunch of reality TV shows about it that I've seen when flicking through the channels and it's gross though.

I don't think the CBC is doing this to be controversial either. They typically shy away from anything controversial. I just think some unsavoury individuals infiltrated their ranks and bullied their way into getting this "documentary" made. Going with what I said earlier, they banned baby it's cold outside because it was controversial, only to bring it back a few days later after conducting listener polls. They listen to the vocal minority because they have no backbone and back pedal their decisions when the majority let's them know how foolish they are.

The only time I have ever seen it on TV is in documentary shows like 60 minutes, or trash TV like that honey booboo crap.

Paint your face black when you're doing some black dude impression and you will be hated.
Dress up as a woman and do all the woman tropes and stereotypes there exists and you are a hero.

I don't really have an issue with someone acting up as a woman, even if it's a child who does it. People should be able to pretend to be whoever they want as a play or an entertainment act. But when doing that becomes "brave" and something that shows moral superiority then I have a problem with it - especially if the tone of it is increasingly sexual and it involves children.

There is nothing wrong with wearing what you want, and there is nothing wrong with gender non-conformity.

I am a non-binary queer weirdo myself, and I unashamedly identify myself such because it’s true.

Kids, like adults, can be queer.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a queer person.

There is absolute nothing wrong on acting in a gender-nonconformist matter.

There is, however, something incredibly disturbing about CHILDREN doing shit like this, because these are CHILDREN sexualizing themselves in the name of expression. This absolutely should not be encouraged. There are ways to express one's identity or non-conformity without being inherently sexual. Kids are not adults, and the adults acting as their guardians should be ashamed for encouraging this sexualization of possibly vulnerable queer youth.

I know some will hate me for saying it, but I don’t care, because I care about queer kids too much to stay silent. My mother taught me that god created all the colors for everyone and let me enjoy my tea parties with my teddies in peace. If I ever showed signs of wanting to do shit like this, she would have said it was not appropriate and would have guided me towards age appropriate activities, as a good parent should.

It’s like parents don’t know the difference between being supportive and nuturing thier minds as opposed to letting kids do what they want and being influenced by everyone with no restraint. It’s a madhouse, and it will end up with cases of hurting the most vulnerable queer youth at the end of the day.

Encouraging the sexualization of children is absolutely disgusting. Let children be children for god's sake. Encourage children to be children. God, I swear some of the people encouraging this care more about queer exposure than their kid's childhoods.
1000% perfect post

If this is the avenue pedophiles use to get at kids in the open, then consider me disgusted. It seems nothing less than just that, sexualisation at a young age, hiding beyond all that non conformity spiel. Like somebody mentioned above, replace the girls with cross dressing boys, and the straight men with gay men, suddenly pedophilia is to be celebrated?

This should not be acceptable, the long term ramifications are disgusting.

How would these Children even know about Drags if they weren’t indoctrinated by someone.
The culture these people are trying for is destroying our children’s innocence and is much worse for a healthy personal development than the standard boy/girl raising methods they claim to be so bad.

yea i remember the whole media storm over the death of JonBenet Ramsey, which happened in the 90s, and people thought it was sick to dress up your kids the way they did. that was 30 years ago, people thought it was weird then, and they definitely think it's weird now.

simple fix, say that its a drag pagent and they will received progressive awards and praised. Bonus points all the pedos can show up and say they just support LGTBQXYZ2IIIAPLMXXXXXV25.

At least thats what I would do if I was those pagent organizers. It gives them carte blanche and they probably could have the kids parading around naked or even simulating sex and it would still get a pass because we need to be accepting and understanding. Stunning and Brave.

They aren't pretending to be a different gender, they aren't dancing at bars/nightclubs/strip clubs etc.... Not being thrown singles like strippers. Its still disgusting, but different.

Yep it happens.... https://www.dailywire.com/news/39658/nbc-promotes-11-year-old-drag-kid-who-performed-amanda-prestigiacomo

On Saturday, CNBC published a video tweet of Desmond Napoles — AKA "Desmond is Amazing" — an 11-year-old "drag kid" who, earlier this month, "performed" a dance number at a gay bar while collecting dollar bills from the adult men in the crowd.

...I dont like to use the word Slippery Slope but this fits.

That's crazy that the club allowed this. Performing at the club is one thing (that's borderline bad), but throwing money is on another level bad. But I'm not sure what this slippery slope that you speak of.

Just that small changes/choices (like this) in this boys life will lead him down a troubling and most likely dangerous path. And society /his parents seem to be fine with this.
