"Classics HD", new brand for PS3 games?

Jak trilogy please.

And give the option to warp to locations in Jak 2 rather than using the shitty overworld and cars, and it'll be perfect.

Better yet, Final Fantasy XII: International. Free money, Square. PLEASE.

And please let us play the game without forcing the inverted x axis.

Why would they release Sly at $60? Don't they realize that almost no one actually cares about the games? I don't remember them being popular.

Why is everything you post always wrong?

Well I guess this means software emulation will never happen then. My phat 60 better never die. Still if the ports and selections are good I'll be filling out my ps2 library with these titles.

Jesus, SCEE are terrible with boxart design. First the godawful PSN circle, the platinum boxes and now this enormous classics HD banner at the top? I can't wait to see what shit they conjur up for advertising 3D.

I wouldn't say that. I just think they are surfing the buzz created by God of War. This is free money until they get software emulation right.

.

Well, more collections would be cool. I'd like a Jak trilogy collection(though including Jak X as well would be nice), a Ratchet collection and a Team Ico one. I could do without the extra branding on the boxart though.

Pretty neat way of getting around the no-PS2 emulation, it's come at a good time as my PS3 Phat just died too, got a little slimmy now.

Personally, I'd love and would 100% buy a Team ICO Collection, MGS Collection, SOCOM Collection and Gran Turismo Collection. Hell, I'd probably even buy some others like Jak & Daxter, never got round to trying that. Trophies in the MGS games would be siiiiick too :D

How the fuck can they have a GOTY edition of Batman AA when Batman AA wasn't GOTY 2009 to begin with.

I don't like the branding, but I think it's necessary. I'll just print my own like I do with all my PS3 games.

I've always thought this type of stuff was a no-brainer for the games industry.

Music and movies release 'newly remastered' versions of their old catalogs all the time.

I'll hold out for the Mobile Fidelity gold disc version.

I need Jack & Daxter Collection, Metal Gear Solid Collection and Socom 2 HD with Online NOW!!

Burnout Revenge and Ace combat 4 would also be Great!

oh my god clutter

age rating, dev logo, publisher, logo, move circle sticker, classics hd swish, move bar, psn nub, psn logo, ps3 bar, clear plastic bar on top of case

WHERE'S THE 3D FEATURES STICKER?
I think you're mistaken... the only clutter on there is that game art and logo on the front, I mean wtf is that? Takes up all the space and shit.

On a serious note, the front of video game boxes are becoming more and more like the back.. soon the real boxart will take up a small space in the upper corner of the front.

Will buy when Amazon inevitably temporarily drops the price.

I'd rather see more HD remakes + DDL releases than having BC back.

GoW Collection was born out of a special edition questionnaire, it was intended primarily for fans of the series, not for people who never played it.

It might be a nice by-product of removing BC, but these HD Collections are not to rape the user base. I have a BC unit, have played both the GoW games and got the Collection, I have played both Ueda games, and will buy the Collection.

I'm not saying Sony are pure and honest, I'm sure they're as sick and twisted as any company that size, however, I do believe this one thing, HD Collections and the removal of BC is not directly connected and was not that premeditated and cynical.
I don't think the two are linked either. PS3 when it launched was burning money. They could have either keep the PS2 chip to do emulation or save an extra 25-30$ on costs. They choose to drop it.

While as you said, the HD Collection was born from a strong user pull on what they wanted.

But, these two separate decisions also create a pretty shitty dilemma. It gives them a reason now not to make their system BC. GoW Collection sold 650k, More than Infamous, Heavy Rain, LBP, and others. New projects that probably were 20+million budgets vs an upscale on a last gen game with trophy support. It's the same shit with paying for XBL(Or for newer relevance, Online codes in new games only). It is the potential new standard that accompanies it.

As cool as this is, I just find it a lame excuse to just take out BC. Thank god I have the old 60 gig. The only reason I am going to get the Sly collection is because I would kill for a Sly 4 on the PS3.

You do have an excellent point. However, I'd argue if Sony think they can replicate those sales, they are mistaken. Team ICO probably will, and do better, but that is it. Sly certainly won't, and they have nothing else beyond GT that really has a chance, and I doubt they'd do GT before GT5, and after it wouldn't sell at all.

Sony this gen has had an awesome first party, but historically it's been decent quality and fully disposable beyond the Ueda stuff.

How much do you think these games cost to remaster? I'd say 500k worldwide is all they need. At $40 that'll be $20,000,000 in revenue.

Can somebody tell me what's fake about this box art? No way it looks that bad does it? :lol

And is this game really getting Move support?

I hope you are joking. That shop is horrible and its obvious a faked cover. Anyhow no, batman game wont have Move support.

Team ICO collection, MGS collection and Ratchet collection, please.

Ideally they'd do collection up ports with HD graphics, trophies (and Move/3D support where possible), release PS2 games on PSN store with the same DRM as other games (not every PS2 game will be big enough to do a collection, ideally upscaled to improve graphics a bit) and release a Software Emulation solution for non BC consoles.

It's important to note that the comment was said in regard to PS2 titles appearing on PSN. (This is GAF, after all; half of those who peruse this thread aren't going to click the link :P)

Give it up, ICO + SOTC won't happen. I think Sony knows the demand and if it was possible they would've announced it already.

I would buy HD remasters of
Metal Gear Solid
Devil May Cry
Resident Evil (with 480p versions of the games with pre-rendered backgrounds.)

the gc ports were hideous, resident evil 1 & zero didnt even get 16:9 widescreen and ran in letterbox mode, okami and metroid prime 1+2 were even downgraded

at least these ps2 games get better graphics and framerate, not to mention the better image quality and colour thanks to hdmi

Please don't continue a system wars derail.

If something like the Sly collection, that probably ~10 people worldwide wanted or asked for, can happen, I see no reason why they couldn't make a Team Ico collection happen. Not that I personally care anyway, I don't care about Team Ico's games, but it would be nice for the fans.

Yeah and also, it would be kinda retarded to have PSTwo classics on PSN and not have a software emulation BC (at least on those titles).

Anyways I'm seeing some wishlists here, so I'm gonna put some of mine.

GTA Collection (3, VC, SA), MGS (MGS TS, MGS2S, MGS3S), RE (RE4, RECVX), FF (FFX, X-2, XII), ICO (ICO, SOTC), Ratchet (Ratchet 1, 2, 3), Jak (Jak1, 2, 3), KH (KH1, KH2), DQ (DQV, DQVIII - Highly unlikely but I'll take English subtitles on V)

I love the idea of Classics HD. I hope no one here expect all collection to be priced at $40 though. I won't be surprised if Sly Collection priced at $60 since you're getting 3 games instead of 2 like God of War.

I actually think Jak collection would benefit the most. The games were 60fps titles with very clean impressive visuals and tight controls. About the only thing that doesn't hold up these days for them is the IQ of the PS2. Render them at 1080p with 4x AA and they will look awesome and hold up very well in game design. Plus I never played Jak 3 so it'd give me a good excuse to finally do so :P

From the vids it looked like the Sly Collection is gonna be capped at 30fps (or maybe it was just a really early build) What did the originals run at?

And going by the PS2 emu thread, FFXII would look incredible rendered at 1080p, but I don't think SE gets this kind of stuff. FFXII "directors cut" on PS3 with additional content and 1080p 4x AA visuals would probably do about as well as GoW collection did.

ATTENTION SQAURE! Bring over a Final Fantasy and Kingdom Heart's collections with the International and Final Mix versions and I'll buy 1
(yup just 1)
copies!

I think we may see collection series on bluray and individual titles on psn download

Now here's an interesting question, if (when?) they put PS2 titles on PSN are they gonna put titles from the collection when available or are they all gonna be a PS2 ISO file dump like the PSOne games?

I get the disc collections, but why aren't these on PSN as well?

Sony should put them on PSN. Games on Demand on Live is cool so it doesn't hurt to have a similar service on PSN too.

As long as the games are sold as collections I dont see a problem with it (great way to catch up on games that were missed)

Stuff that I should expect:

Jak and Daxter Collection
Ratchet and Clank Collection
Wild Arms Collection
ICO Collection
Dark Cloud Collection
Siren Collection

I forgot about Dark Cloud but I loved that first one. Never did play the second but if they did make a collection I would have to pick it up.
