So I guess I'm completely lost in the whole Cam Newton thing. So his dad made a deal, it didn't go through, no money changed hands. Cam says he had no idea what was going on, Auburn did the same. He was made ok by the NCAA.

Where is the later evidence? If they're going on his word what evidence could they possibly find that he did know? what did he write it in a diary or something? I just don't get it. Or is the thought that Auburn paid for Cam? Which I don't think was the case at all. They wouldn't be that offensive about keeping Cam eligible if it looked like he had been bought by Auburn.

VY had the most dominating BCS performance of all time. Not to mention, this game was close until the very end and could have hit OT if not for the lucky Dyer run. How can a game be that close and yet still be so boring?
Florida - Ohio State: Complete domination on offense and defense by Florida.

USC - Texas: Both offenses rule the game. Vince Young picks on that asian DB (who wound up getting nipped for using PEDs and cut) for the entirety of the 4th quarter, then says "Fuck it, I'm running." at the end of the game.

I thought there was supposed to be some sort of SEC solidarity. I figured it was a myth when random, redneck, Alabama fans would say choice quotes like "I'd rather go for some liberal pac10 team over Auburn" or "Some Bama fans support Auburn every game but one every year... not me. Fuck Auburn."

Meh, it's because I now have a Skeleton with the sign "Auburn fan waiting on a National Championship", and now it's ruined.

RUINED.

McCoy-less Texas >>>>>>>>>>> This shitty Oregon team. :P

But, with much begrudgingling...

Congratulation, Abuurn Fans!

man you guys are serious with the God hate... what gives? did i miss something is there a we cant stand God (OT) that I missed.. I am not the most religious person but wow

Nah it's not God hate it's people thinking God cares about football and that they won because they were more righteous or whatever.

Yes God wanted Auburn to win and not Oregon. That is why they won. You realize how insane you have to be to believe that?

I think you're missing the point of what someone says when they praise God.

It's not "Thank you [based] God for allowing me to win." It's "Thank you God for blessing me with [whatever] opportunity."

Or at least that's what it's supposed to be.

But they said "Thank you God for allowing me to win", there was no leeway. That is what was said. And it was stupid.

And it's super insincere. Just like when Singletary said losses were on him even though you knew he was blaming Alex Smith the whole time. I hate when people lie because they know that's what they're supposed to say.

really I see nothing insane about it, if the man feels that way, let him say it. Even if he doesnt mean it.. wtf does that have to do with you or anyone else for that matter? I can understand people that may get upset about it, but this thing blew up just like he someone got shot and it was politically motivated or something. it was a sentence and its done. I dont think it hurt anyone.. Thats all. I guess I will just never care that much to get worked up over something so uneventful. carry on

Well how did I know this would happen. Oregon plays a team with some semblance of a defense and promptly gets shut down.

They also took six weeks off so they were super rusty. There's no way to know for sure why they sucked.

Maddness said:
sure i get this. But NCAA already made a decision on that. Again where does it go from there? they just decide to change their decision?
They didn't. They made a decision about Cam's eligibility, based solely on the fact that his dad asked for money from Miss St and didn't get any.

its like that all over the internet, just ignore it.

It's the fact that no one is stupid enough to believe that the proven aspect of selling a player to a school just STOPS after 1 attempt.

That just because he "might" have went somewhere else for no cash somehow makes the situation "ok."

As soon as it was proven solicitation had happened, he should (and was...kind of) ruled ineligeable. It was supposed to back count all the games he ineligebly played in.

Eh, who's to say. I can see why you (we) are cynical about it, but it's sort of shitty that we take it as a given.

OT hates God, but likes to say that its thoughts and prayers are with whatever random celebrity is suffering some serious malady. It doesn't make sense, you just have to accept it.

Prior to tonight nobody would have said Auburn had any semblance of a defense. I attribute a lot of it to the greedy bastards running things making the game over a month after each team's last game. The QB's and offenses on both sides had to get back into the regular season groove. I'm in a funk after taking two days off work. Imagine if it were a month and you've got to jump back in it full blast.

Isn't Cam's eligibility the main focus of the debate though? I mean the reason they would forfeit their wins and his trophy is if he wasn't eligible. Which they ruled he was since no money changed hands and he wasn't personally involved.

Oregon's offense had their chances. One interception in the red zone, settled for a short field goal at the 2 yard line, and turned it over on downs at the 1. They worked with poor field position all game. Gained over 450 yards on offense. The Auburn D-line just proved to be the difference in short yardage situations.

I wonder how many disenfranchised hipsters there are in Oregon tonight after decided to watch the game in an attempt to be ironic.

Probably only in Portland. The smug duck fans there probably put them up to watching the game in the first place. I wish I still lived up there just to I can watch the bitter tears flow.

I'm happy for the Auburn Tigers. This game was a lot more boring then I ever expected though. It would have been nice if at least one of the teams played a good game.

Malleymal said:

Because I don't believe in God and think that anyone that does is stupid? Pretty easy to understand.

And even if I did I wouldn't believe that God gave me the ability to score a TD or make a tackle. That's even dumber.

Take it for granted that they're being insincere? I guess. But I just have serious doubt that these players attend church or pray when they're lost or just make him an integral part of their lives. I'm sure some do (Tebow comes to mind), but the god talk happens with such regularity that it's hard to take seriously.

*shrug* Oregon had their second-lowest point total all season.

So did Auburn. Pac-10 defense!

CFB is the only other sport besides soccer where people cheer for their division/conference. None of my Falcons friends exclaimed NFC NFC NFC last year. Shit is stupid.

Miss St. was supposedly his preferred school, because his former coach from Florida was there. So think about it for a second, why would his dad ask for money from his dream school, yet let him go to his back up (Auburn) for free? What sense does that make?

Regardless, simply ASKING for money should have made him ineligible, based on the rules that every other coach, AD and recruit are told. Your parents=your representatives=you. It's not like Cam and his dad had some estranged relationship. This isn't "He Got Game" here. Cam and Auburn got preferential treatment which is why people call bullshit.

So you're saying that Auburn definitely had been asked for money? there's no way he would just say "maybe that was a bad idea" and just went there?

Also I think this proves my point. The thought was that he would be ruled ineligible, and he was but was granted back eligibility basically ruling that he is indeed eligible. So now do they change the ruling? is that what everyone is hoping for?

They got 455 yards -- I would hardly say they were "shut down." Some costly turnovers and a big 4th down stop by Auburn. Both offenses moved the ball but had trouble getting points.

And anyone who thinks that Cecil didn't get paid is insane and/or horribly naive. :lol

Sorry if I wasn't clear. As I understand it, this particular decision was based solely on the Miss St solicitation. They did not actually investigate if Auburn paid him.

"The money was just too much."
