Come on, who wouldn't want to see the clock management challenged Mad Hatter at Michigan? That'd be great. They'd have such great dreams of him working a miracle there.

At least have him be OC? I just want the over/under on when he will send a cock shot to a co-ed, or is that taken off the board because if its 12 hours you would still take the under?

Okay, I could support Favre being the OC. Man, that would be a pairing made in heaven.

Perhaps. I would hope the decision wouldn't hinge on one game, however. At least Brandon's not on a boat!
Another blowout certainly sealed his fate, however. But after waiting so long, I don't necessarily agree with firing him now. It's possible that we'll have to settle for someone even worse.

Is it too late to start another Gruden rumor?

There would be a fist fight at the Ohio State game on whether they should sling or slang on 3rd and short.

It's okay, the Mad Hatter would tell the QB to spike the ball and then it'd be 4th and short. Then Favre could probably talk him into slanging the ball since the MH had botched the previous call.

Huh. ESPN fired Ron Franklin.
It has been a scandalous week for ESPN sideline reporter Jeanine Edwards and her colleague radio announcer Ron Franklin. Franklin was pulled from covering the Fiesta Bowl after allegedly making sexist comments to Edwards. Edwards wanted to clarify just exactly what happened.

Edwards e-mailed Game-On!’s Michael McCarthy. In the e-mail, she stated that Franklin called her “sweet baby.” It was thought he had called her “sweet cakes.” In addition, Edwards reported that she was not the one to report Franklin. His behavior was reported to ESPN by an unidentified colleague. Edwards did, however, confirm the fact that Franklin called her an “a**hole.”

Franklin made the comments during a conversation between Edwards and ESPN announcer Rod Gilmore. The conversation had been on the recent election of Gilmore’s wife as mayor of Alameda, California. Franklin interjected stating to Edwards, “Listen to me sweet baby, let me tell you something…”

Edwards and Franklin reported the Chick Fil-A coverage together. According to SportsbyBrooks, ESPN had tried to pull Franklin, but didn’t have time. For the Fiesta Bowl, they replaced him with Dave Lamont.

Edwards had told Franklin not to talk to her like that, when he reportedly called her an “a**hole.” ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz announced the replacement for the Fiesta Bowl prior to the game.

This is the second time he got busted for talking down to sideline reporters, and ESPN is swift to protect their reporter's professional image. I think they really worry about them becoming sexualized like the Spanish channels.

My only problem is that they didn't take the opportunity to frame Craig James and fire his ass instead.

Does anyone take the sideline reporters seriously anyway? Those halftime interviews are almost entirely pointless. The only one I actually remember was when Bob Stoops was ready to kill Lynn Swan.

I know that prior to the 90's and Spurrier coming there, we'd had Florida's number for about 20 years or so. The series is definitely cyclical and it's about time to swing back in our favor.

20 years? Try the entire run of the series, up to 1990. Georgia would consistently ruin our season for far longer than just 20 years.

It has never had a full cycle. Georgia beat our ass for so long, but now we're at the top of the curve. All CFB is cyclical, but I don't see domination like this from either team for much longer. It will probably settle down into a Florida/LSU type series. Winning streaks of two or three instead of seven or nine. Muschamp could suck at beating UGA. You might fire Richt and hire Petrino. All things that could swing the series.

I didn't say they were good, but ESPN is exceedingly wary at the slightest hint of anything that be perceived as sexism. The field is already dominated by males in the first place, and it probably always will be, but this is something that ESPN has done well to counteract it a little bit.

I do admire that ESPN is unafraid to take swift action. It doesn't seem like it was haphazard or thoughtless. Obviously Franklin has had some problems in the past and ESPN was tired of it.

And yes, sideline reporters are mostly pointless. Like the person on the local news who does filler on a dog shelter. I hate when Erin Andrews tells a story of perseverance in 20 seconds before throwing it back to the booth. She's good at commenting on injuries, thought process, sideline mood, the game and what not, let her do that. All sideline reporters, even. Get rid of the interview with the losing coach at halftime too. "So what do you need to do better, Coach?" "Execute, blah blah."

Some places in Detroit are apparently reporting that Brady Hoke will be the next UM head coach. Conversely, it appears that if Rich Rod has been fired, he's the only one who's been told that:

Decent pick, if true. Especially given the lack of options.

I was a little worried the Farm would nab Hoke after Harbaugh leaves, and he'd just pick up where Harbaugh left off. Hard to see any great options for them if UM gets Hoke.

Hey I was just trying to be nice in saying UGA owned Florida for twenty years but you are correct. It's about due to swing back in our favor, hopefully this change to a pro style when they don't have the athletes for it will be the beginning of it.

Fox 2 Detroit may have jumped the gun. Rich Rod's meeting with Michigan Athletic Director Dave Brandon is still going on.

Just spoke to another RichRod assistant about Rodriguez-Brandon meeting: "It's not done yet," he said. #Michigan

Firing some one doesn't usually take 3 hours. Unless you're Trump and it's sweeps.

Nope, it will be due to swing back in another 40 years. It might happen before then, but it won't be due.

And USC fans won't? We have a ridiculously wealthy, football crazy fan base with no NFL team competing for their football dollar. I know its crazy for Southern football fans to think that a West Coast team can be crazy about football, but USC might be the most football centric program on the West Coast.

Actually, it is this reason that I think the NCAA is going to hear our appeal and relent. (That, and the rumblings I'm hearing from some uh... "sources" around USC).

USC is the Big Show when it comes to bowls. When it's in a bowl game, that bowl gets nearly 30% higher ratings than expected. That is enormous. (As a point of reference, LSU as a "nouveau riche" team actually hurts the bowl game by bringing in -8.9% ratings. And of course ACC teams round out the rest of the "worst" list).

It's clear the issue for the NCAA is money. USC brings it in, and by punishing a bunch of players who had nothing to do with the Bush issues, they've ended up punishing their own wallets. If we happen to get a bowl next year and any scholarship reductions removed, it will be because of this reason.

OMG it's almost perfect!

Oh god no!

Mixed feelings on Rich Rod .. The offense started to take shape. The real problem was Greg Robinson, fire him and bring in a new defensive coordinator.

I don't think offense was Michigan's problem, it was their jv hs football defense. Who uses a 3-3-5 defensive scheme anyways............I mean really!!

O yea, getting Denard practically killed didn't help much over the course of the season

Fulmer absolutely got the raw end of that deal after being the best coach Tennessee has had since Neyland. I think he should have had another year to fix things there. Would be equivalent to Richt being axed after last season, maybe this season. He's earned the right to fix things, if he can. I didn't agree with Tuberville being given the shaft either, but SEC football is serious business.

Bullshit Majors was a better coach. Fulmer took a top 15 program and ran it into the ground over time. Yeah he had a great run but with all the talent he got he should have won more than 2 SEC titles. He was the head ball coach's bitch and consider the league was full of morons he was able to win on talent alone. Once the SEC started to get good coaches everything went to shit.

Edit: That list is pretty good but I am not sure Notre Dame is up on the top level anymore.

I'm George Foreman and this is my favorite post on the Citadel.

Cal shut Oregon down by using a 3-3-5. I think the 3-3-5 might be a great counter to spread option.

I sure hope so.

I know I'll get accused of bias, but college football needs USC to be good. When USC is good it forces the rest of the Pac 10 to step things up, it gives the SEC someone to hate universally, and the midwest someone to be jealous of.

I saw that entire game (in Madison, Wisconsin, go figure), and Oregon shut itself down in that game. Unforced error after unforced error.

Cal shut them down because their corners played amazing man to man coverage. They gambled that Thomas couldn't hit the side of the barn on his passes. He missed lots of receivers over the top. They also faked injuries allowing them to substitute on key 3rd down plays.

JoePa denies the transfer release for QB Rob Bolden. If he leaves PSU would have one RS Fr and 3 walk-ons on the roster, and that's it. Desperation?

UF used 3-3-5 last year a lot, and it was mainly used when we shut down Oklahoma in the NC game (the greatest offense in NCAA history ;) ). We had 5 stud defensive backs though. Sounded like Michigan had shitty corners, so not sure why he went that route.

ahhh, Michigan does have shitty corners. All the games I saw, they were getting burnt left and right

Pretty much this.

Lou Holtz always has better points than Mark May. But Mark May has adopted some of Lou Holtz's speech patterns and speaks as fast as he can until he runs out of breath. Great analytical skills from both.

i told you harbaugh wasn't going to michigan! it's not even about low balling or whatever. why would you leave stanford for michigan? i mean you've built stanford into a title contender, if you're going to stay in college just stay there.

like i said before, harbaugh will be in the nfl by next week. and i have no sources other than common sense.

This is the best season at the Farm in probably 70 years, and they still can't even half-fill their downsized stadium.

Michigan is a top tier college job, Stanford is not. Why wouldn't you leave Stanford for UM?

I remember when UM snubbed Harbaugh then he dissed them about their academics involving their athletic dept :lol

Niners need this guy.
