This is the best season at the Farm in probably 70 years, and they still can't even half-fill their downsized stadium.

Michigan is a top tier college job, Stanford is not. Why wouldn't you leave Stanford for UM?

its not about how many fans show up. if your goal was to be on the national radar then come to the nfl. he has already done the college thing and proven himself. he needs to take a real challenge and turn around the 49ers, not move his family to michigan to turn around another sorry college team.

even when all the talking heads from espn were saying michigan was a lock to get harbaugh and meier said there was a 1% chance michigan doesn't sign him i knew he wasn't staying in college. dude needs to get paid and michigan isn't going to pay him nearly what the NFL is.

i never 100% guaranteed he was going to the niners but i was 100% sure he was going to the nfl. niners look like the best spot for him especially considering they just had a kid and his wife doesn't want to leave the bay area

I have a serious dilemma for Buckeye-gaf. I got a signed Eddie George 27 for my birthday. Frame it or wear it?
Hmmm had it been anyone like Archie, he signs everythig, but since it's Eddie frame it along with a photo it will look nice. But I wear my signed aj hawk jersey to every game.

I'm probably putting way too much thought into this, but it's an interesting question.

I'd say the best way to rank coaching jobs would be in tiers. Something like this...

Elite Tier: pinnacle of college football. This is your end goal as a coach, unless you want to go to the pros.
USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Bama, Florida, OSU, Michigan, Notre Dame. (no particular order there)

Second Tier: high-level BCS programs.
Oregon, Nebraska, LSU, Tennessee, Penn St, FSU, Tha U, etc. Georgia belongs here.

Third Tier: mid-level BCS, high-level non-BCS.
Cal, TTech, Arkansas, Minn, BC, BYU, Utah, etc.

Fourth Tier: low-level BCS, mid-level non-BCS.
Wazzu, Baylor, Miss St, Indiana, Duke, Southern Miss, etc.

And then everything else.

I dunno, it's hard to rank this stuff. Especially since it seems like they can move around, at least between the lower ranks. Like, UCLA might ordinarily be second tier, but these days it'd probably be more like third tier for most coaches. Or the reverse for Oregon.

This might be the Stanford in me, but W A T? Maybe it's just how you have first and second tier being pretty darn elite and then have a really, really huge third tier.

How many teams would have have in each tier?

Tier 1: 8
Tier 2: 10-15
Tier 3: 30 teams? 20 teams?

I can't see putting Cal anywhere near the top 30-40 teams in the country on a regular basis despite a really good decade. I know Florida is the cat's meow for the past 10 years, and maybe your listing is more of a modern listing, but I can't put them in my top 10. Just not enough tradition for me. I could see them sliding quite a bit with Muschamp. And I'd certainly put both FSU and Miami ahead of them.

I guess it seems your list is a mix of old school, with some of the not so great recent teams dropped out (like Nebraska), but Michigan is still there?

Nice work, Cyan. Your great argument was destroyed by your homerism.

i told you harbaugh wasn't going to michigan! it's not even about low balling or whatever. why would you leave stanford for michigan? i mean you've built stanford into a title contender, if you're going to stay in college just stay there.

like i said before, harbaugh will be in the nfl by next week. and i have no sources other than common sense.

The last time Stanford had this kind of success their coach bailed the fuck out for Notre Dame. Stanford is not a top tier job. Mind you they've upgraded their facilities and shit since then, but still they aren't even one of the best jobs in the conference, let alone the country.

I hate being a buckeye fan and having to hear about their bowl record against the sec. It's not like 1-9 is really any better than 0-10 if they can manage to win.

Missed opportunity on that Allstate ad. Should've had the mayhem dude knock down the goal post so he missed the field goal... :lol

Fumble aside I haven't seen Pryor run with that kind of determination before. Seems to be playing with a purpose. Hopefully that doesn't mean more mistakes.
