It's hard to believe they lost to 3 teams this year.

The USCe game was a classic "letdown" game for Bama. They just didn't have enough emotion left after a huge win over UF. I didn't watch their loss to LSU, but the loss to AU seemed to me like BAma got overconfident after gaining a huge lead and thought there was no way sCam could do what he eventually did in that game.

The Capital One bowl game was just disgusting though. It was clear early on that Bama's talent was on another level. The MSU OL was getting pushed around like little bitches, and their Defense had no answer for Bama's RBs and WRs (mainly J.Jones). Our seats were on the MSU side of the stadium and there was practically no excitement after the 1st Qtr, either from the fans or the MSU players. After Bama went up by 21pts, there was an MSU guy behind us who was crying. He knew the game was over, and so did the MSU players.

I was just glad I didn't pay for the tickets. :lol

Bowl game showed to me that, we probably protected the DB's too much during the year. Should have blitzed more. While big plays could have happened (heck, they did anyway), would have done better when playing against terrorized QB's. MSU just about ran out of QB's. It took having guy's off the street on defense to give up a garbage TD. Who knew Kyle Pennington would have made the trip to Orlando?

Does the Big Integer impotence color TCU's big win?

Yes and no.

Supposedly, the B1G is the "Biggest Conference Brand Out There." So any time a non-AQ can defeat a B1G champion in the B1G's #1 bowl game, it's a big deal. But yeah, the B1G going 0-5 on New Years day didn't help TCU's perception among the media talking heads. I heard on the radio this morning how the B1G was vastly overrated and TCU still doesn't belong in the MNC talk.

I love the NFL but to be honest I don't really know jack about college football.

I've tried to learned a bit more and tried to figure out what this whole bowl thing is about.
After reading a little into it just seems ridiculous. How many more bowl games can they add?

heck..Chick-fil-a has a bowl. I had no idea.

I love Frank Beamer. I like Bud Foster. Thus, I've always rooted for VaTech.

But God damn if your uniforms aren't ugly, man. The white helmets in your av are the best ones they've ever worn. :lol

don't i know it :lol ... to be fair we don't have the best color combo to work with

Those Pro Combat uniforms were horrible!

Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Presented by Gerbers!

Va Tech had the Tron unis, though. Of course, those would've been way better if they didn't look like they were decaying or something.

I thought those were amazing. Matte black helmets get me all hot and bothered.

Really glad UF got Quinn and not Smart. I guess the idea is to have some NFL guys to help mold him since Muschamp lacks HC experience... but this a complete no-name hire so in the very least it does nothing to help them in recruiting and for that I am glad.

Politics and Money aside, I love College Football more than NFL. It's just more exciting

Anyone who has money can sponsor a bowl. Typically they'd also want to have at least two conferences to agree to play to have automatic tie-ins to ensure they have teams involved. I don't know if there's room for more at this point though because you need to have an even record to qualify and there's already about 70 teams involved in games out of 119 (119's right.. isn't it?).

The Chick-Fil-A bowl was called the Peach Bowl for a loooong time. Most of the older bowls have kept their name and have a sponsor's name also attached but this one was changed over some years back. Kind of sad.

Can't believe they changed the Rose Bowl/Orange Bowl sponsors this year.

It will always be the Rose Bowl sponsored by Citi to me and the Orange Bowl sponsored by FedEx :lol

As a child of the south, I don't understand how one wouldn't follow college football.
My wife was born in Connecticut and went to HS in Maine, and last night she admitted that she didn't know what a first down was until she came to college in Oklahoma.

The Rose Bowl is the BCS whore. I can think of 3 different sponsors it has had.

My post was somewhat tongue in cheek. I went to college in the midwest and met a lot of kids from the west coast and east coast that didn't know dick about football.

I know, but it was still shocking for me to have grown up watching football (I didn't even play) and to take it for granted that everyone must at least know the basics... only to end up marrying someone who couldn't tell you the difference between a first down and safety 5 years ago. :lol

Also, you went to Northwestern, didn't you? No wonder nobody cared about football. I went to law school with a guy who came to OU from Florida because of OU's football program. SMH.

Well, that's one way to pick law schools... :lol
And the cherry on top is that he's DESPERATE to get back to Florida now that he's graduated, and he racked up TONS more student debt by going out-of-state. Le sigh.

In other news:
ESPN's Todd McShay now has #Mizzou QB Blaine Gabbert as the fifth overall pick in the draft, going to the Cardinals.
Really, Arizona? Blaine Gabbert? Not coincidentally, Gabbert announced today that he's leaving school to enter the draft.

Same. It just feels like a more intense, higher-stakes game. Though I really wish college games would adopt a playoff system. I don't even like basketball and March Madness sucks me in every year. And while I watch NFL games on a casual basis, the playoffs are great fun to watch develop.

Whether a team goes to the Insight or Capital One or Chick-Fil-A bowl based on some selection committee is not.

It's kind of strange to see zero NFL hype for Cam Newton. The guy is undeniably the best college football player at his position and he can't even get a good debate on whether NFL teams should draft him. Vince Young must have killed his hype.

I knew nothing about the Stanford band until I read that article. They may be irrelevant, but they are fucking awesome:lol

Probably because of the following:

1. Shady past
2. Only 14 games as a starter at a D1 school
3. Plays in an offense that doesn't ask him to make a single read
4. SEC QBs tend to suck in the NFL
5. General NFL fear of spread option QBs

I assure you its not. The Stanford band truly is that deplorable.

Sign #1 that a town runs a fucking speed trap: during the hearing the first words out of the Judge's mouth were "If you plead guilty or nolo contendere we will make it so you get no points on your license and your insurance company will never find out."

Fuck you, Poulan, GA. Fuck you.
