2006-07 era we had WVU, Cincy, and Louisville all 3 producing great teams with Rutgers having a good year. All 3 lost their coach and made horrible coaching hires save Rutgers who just sucks, and the jury is still out on Cincy and Butch Jones. Add in Pitt annually underachieving, Syracuse forgetting they had a football program that leaves Uconn and USF to carry the conference from 07 to the current situation.

WVU will get back to being a great team, it takes time to rebuild. Same for Louisville, Kragthorpe's complete failure here gets forgotten by most. He took 12-1 Orange Bowl team that returned 14 starters and had the 4th best offense in the country to a 6-6 no bowl season where he blamed everyone from former coaches, to current coaches and players

Still mad over 2006?

Yep, I think so.

If one bad season after a series of good runs makes a team "suck," then what does that make Louisville, who went through a stretch of 2-3 bad seasons?

Or UConn for that matter, a school which alternates a good year with a bad year.

Also, how can USF carry the conference, when they've never won it?

Is it safe to assume that my fellow Champion of the Post Championship of Championships, mre, doesn't want to make a thread, the same as myself.

I don't know if I could create enough humour in a single post, as I rarely have enough for, well, anything I do.

I could post a bunch of Breaking Bad .gifs.

I predict we will score 20 points against Bama. Likely none of those will come on passes past the first down marker. Our linebackers and inside DL match up well against Bama, but if they throw it, we're done.

Of course, you have to pay 9.95 and swear fealty to the LHN to post in it.

Screw that shit, Stugs, I'm moving to the NHL Topic. Goodbye chumps.

Anytime, Anyplace, AnyTime&Place, we can still converse in Private Messages, though.

I'll contribute some too. Keep it prior to season 4, though. No spoilers plz.

I just got AMC in HD, and have been holding off on watching season 4 until now.

Only because I retired. And because CatsPause was more interesting to watch a melt down. And Midnight Madness is mere days away.

Anyway...who IS making the new thread?

Is blue still banned?

It has been sooooo good.
I'm sure it has been. That's been the only downside of switching to DirecTV, until they just upgraded AMC to HD a couple weeks ago. BB is a show that deserves to be shown in full HD glory.

I know which .gif to use in place of Texas and it's shattered dreams of LHN Dominance.

Sorry Baylor.
I'm sure your middle-of-the-road results in the Big 12 will translate into SEC domination.

Have fun, especially if your AD really is stupid enough to continue to schedule Texas (and isn't just bluffing so they don't look scared).

We aren't going to schedule them for the same reason none of the SWC schools scheduled Arky when they left. Isolate them in the SEC for 10 or so years and let Texas high school kids make the decision: play in the SEC SEC SEC or play in regionally relevant games.

So basically because u mad?

I just have this weird gut feeling that some SEC schools think A&M's bonfires are the same as theirs.

At this point, I don't really care what we do. We stopped playing Arkansas when they left the SWC and it set them back 15 years in being relevant. We should do the same thing to Aggy. Though, they are already far from being relevant, so I'm not sure what that would do to them. Maybe turn them into the UCF of big boy football?

I don't know that anybody has a tradition of killing co-eds with their bonfires, other than A&M. Aren't those cancelled anyway?

They started having bonfires off campus on the DL in some dudes back yard.

I'm not sure what the impetus is going to be for them since they won't be playing us anymore.

edit: that photo isn't from a game. That appears to be midnight yell practice.

No, Texas didn't make Arky irrelevant for 15 years. The SEC beating the crap out of Arky for 15 years made them irrelevant.

Right, but game day isn't much different. Half of the sidelines at an A&M game look like a parody of a normal sideline cooked up by Terry Gilliam.

I predict a similar fate for Aggy.

And I wouldn't schedule them either if I were any of their former B12 rivals (OSU, Tech, UT, OU).

There's absolutely no reason to. We'll schedule Houston instead.

Sure enough.

We get another whipping boy, and easier access the Tejas Recruiting.

Figures. They seem to have some really strange traditions.

This is true... and part of Arkys problem was all of their recruiting base was in Texas and they couldn't get a marquee matchup in the state. Playing better teams + recruiting ineptitude is a recipe for a rough transition.

Aggy should be given the same 1, 2 punch.

Yes, THIS is why Arkansas has been irrelevant in football since joining the SEC. Because you stopped playing them.

Read my above post. When Arkansas was a national power they had a few things going for them.

1) SWC schedule meant playing Texas and Aggy and whoever might have been decent that year (i.e. the team that was currently cheating but hadn't been caught by the NCAA).

2) A team made up of top-tier Texas players (similar to what OU does).

The combination of a harder schedule and losing their recruiting grounds killed Arkansas.

Yep, it was definitely the fact that Arkansas wasn't playing Texas that relegated them to irrelevancy. Just ignore the fact that Arkansas was/is below-average to mediocre and that's why they're not relevant anymore. Nah, it was all the fact that they somehow broke orbit from the massive gravity well of the collective UT ego. THAT is what did them in.

They still have them but they're off campus now and really diminished in size as far as I'm aware. Old bonfire pics for a sense of scale:

Current bonfire is only like the size of those top four tiers on that first pic I think.

I'd heard about the Bonfire, but holy shit @ the size of that stack of lumber.

Did they raid an entire sawmill for that?!?

No, they cut down trees from the area every year in organized groups.

Very environmentally friendly all around.

Since A&M is in Texas they'll hardly be starved of Texas recruits. They'll just live off the whatever is left after UT & OU have their fill(as usual). You're also forgetting that Arkansas went through a coaching change as they moved to the SEC. A bad coaching change that quickly turned into a succession of coaching changes until Nutt showed up.

You guys are all haters...that shit's hilarious. Also A&M will be fine in the SEC. I think you're going to see some kids who want to stay in Texas but also play in the SEC heading their way.

Unless you think Big Sherm is the answer, I think Aggy is in the middle of just such a coaching issue right now since RC left.

They are also going to head into the SEC next year pretty depleted at most key positions.
Had they joined the SEC this year they would probably still lose 3-4 games, but would be competitive in most games.. next year could be much rougher.

Just checking on Arky's W/L record since they entered the SEC.

Now, I'm just starting with Jack Crowe's record, even though it starts in 1990. Not sure where the split might actually be, and I don't care to look into it thoroughly.

Overall: 138 wins 113 Losses .549 win%
Conference play: 78 wins 86 losses .475 win%
OOC: 60 Wins 27 Losses .689 win%

Still under .500 in Conference...

I think Jack Crowe was one game into their move to the SEC. When they lost to the Citadel. lulz.
