After seeing a guy get banned in the MMA thread for disagreeing with a mod - I'm glad we don't get any love here in the College Football thread!

I think there was a little more to it than that but yeah. From what I know of the mods they don't understand college football at all so they'd probably misunderstand half of what goes on in here.

One other thing from yesterday, I can't believe Oregon was wearing uniforms that didn't feature their school's primary color in any way, shape, or form. Sad. They were wearing their rivals color more than their own!

Totally random but I think bRuins players are about to get banned from Twitter:

So glad we didn't land Randall Caroll, dude seems like a massive headache.

UCLA's high academic standards come to the fore once again.

Also:
man oregon, stanford and cal should have been easy wins...
:lol

As far as your point on scheduling, as best as I can remember this decade the Pac 10 has always been playing the same week as the CCGs. I think having our rivalry games that week is plenty in terms of media attention, I mean look how much attention last years Civil War game in Oregon got with OSU having a shot at the Pac 10 title and a massive BCS monkey wrench. Or a few years back when ucla upset USC to knock them out the MNC game (the Stanford year). I think even last year's Apple Cup drew attention cause people wanted to see if UW or WSU would go winless against D1 competition.

Yeah, I think the Pac 10 has been scheduling the same week as the CCGs for most of this decade. I just think that they could do a better job of it. For the most part, it has been the USC-UCLA rivalry game that has been played on this weekend, I'm not sure why they went away from it.

If you try to predict out matchups you'd probably end up with a USC Cal matchup at the end of this year that probably wouldn't be as good as it looked in the pre season. Rivalry games are a safer bet.

If you went off of Pac-10 records last year, the top two teams in the conference were USC and Oregon, so based off of that, the CCG weekend game could have been these two teams. The rivalry game is the safer bet, but doing it this way, you have a chance to maximize your media attention.

AP is out:

Code:
AP Top 25
RK	TEAM	RECORD	PTS	PVS
1	Florida (30)	7-0	1463	2
2	Alabama (23)	8-0	1448	1
3	Texas (7)	7-0	1407	3
4	USC 6-1	1217	4
5	Cincinnati	7-0	1211	5
6	Boise State	7-0	1177	6
7	Iowa 8-0	1148	7
8	TCU 7-0	1132	10
9	LSU 6-1	1040	9
10	Oregon 6-1	933	12
11	Georgia Tech	7-1	923	11
12	Penn State	7-1	843	13
13	Oklahoma State	6-1	768	14
14	Virginia Tech	5-2	734	15
15	Houston 6-1	601	17
16	Pittsburgh	7-1	551	20
17	Ohio State	6-2	508	18
18	Miami (FL)	5-2	501	8
19	Utah 6-1	400	19
20	West Virginia	6-1	323	22
21	South Carolina	6-2	270	23
22	Oklahoma	4-3	210	25
23	Arizona 5-2	164	NR
24	Mississippi	5-2	142	NR
25	Notre Dame	5-2	135	NR

No real big movement. Oregon goes up a few, so does Pittsburgh, everyone else pretty much staid the same or moved up one.

Oh and Miami massive drop I forgot about that one. I am glad to see TCU jump LSU. I think TCU is EASILY the better team right now.

Also after all the shit the Big East got in the off season they seem to be having a nice year. The ACC is on the other hand is a mess. I like Georgia Tech but I'm not sure I'd favor them at a neutral site against anyone in the top 10 (except LSU).

you've got no love for the triple option.

That Houston loss continues to DESTROY our national credibility... We're 5-0 since that game, and yet we've moved up a total of 3 spots. Our games don't receive the same national billing as they would have if we were in the top 5. Teams with more visibility (even UO, who beat a crappy UW team on the road) consistently jump us in the polls, even as our defense continues to improve and we prove we can win without Bryant and Hunter.

But if we beat Texas this week in Stillwater, it will probably make up for the UH loss--probably resulting in a jump into the top 6-7... but imagining the magnitude of that game with a #4 OSU facing a #3 UT... absolutely massive.

You're 5-0 against the following 5 teams:

Rice
Grambling State
aTm
Missouri
Baylor (without Robert Griffin)

the only team on that list that doesn't classify as cake is Missouri, and that game was on national TV. When you're not a traditional power and you lose to a mid major you're not gonna get back in the top 10 without another significant victory. Beating a bunch of cream puffs tells us NOTHING about Oklahoma St.

I was annoyed when the Notre Dame Broadcasting Channel reminded me that they have a decent shot at a BCS bowl this season. They only have 1 easy game left in WSU and maybe another in UCONN, Pitt, Stanford and Navy should all provide reasonable challenges.

God fucking dammit I cant believe Nebraska lost to fucking Iowa State yesterday. Iowa State is so fucking bad. Nebraska had 8 fucking turnovers. How that is possible I dont know but we somehow managed it.

I think I would rather have lost to Iowa State the way Nebraska did than how ASU had the train ran on them by Standford. Fuck does Danny Sullivan suck!

Bah. Don't they only need 9 wins to qualify? I expect Pitt to beat them, but I don't know about Navy. And I hate to pin my hopes on Furd.

Honestly I almost would have preferred having Iowa State run the train on Nebraska at least then I would just know that Iowa State is better and Nebraska sucks. Instead they committed on field suicide by having 8 fucking turnovers.

We had TWO fumbles into the endzone for touchbacks.
One interception in the endzone.
One fumble on the 5 yard line.
Thats four fucking scores we fucked up.

That doesnt even include the other two interceptions and two fumbles. We did all of this and STILL had a shot to win the game at the end.

They have to finish in the top 8 to get an automatic bid. As for an at large, I assume they'd need AT least 9 wins to be considered. Given how close the top 10 is this year I don't think anything less than 10 will really do it for them.

Right now we're looking at:

SEC champ
SEC runner up
Big 12 champ
Big East champ
Big 10 champ
ACC champ
Pac 10 champ
BSU/TCU

taking up 8 of the 10 slots. So that leaves 2 spots with one undefeated mid major still left and then a whole host of 1 or 2 loss teams from major conferences. Can you really see a 3 loss ND over a 2 loss Oregon, LSU, Penn St etc?

I think ND has to win out to make a BCS bowl.

If Kentucky is ever any good while Cobb is still playing, he should get Heisman consideration. Punt Returns for TDs, Rushing for TDs, Receiving for TDs, and he also almost had his first Passing TD of the season. Just amazing and he is only a Sophomore.

In Cobb We Trust?

in all seriousness, i understand why Brooks doesnt make him the primary QB, but damn if he isn't amazing in the wildcat or on the field in general.
