Confirmed "enhanced" content ready for PS4 Pro on Nov 10

Can someone explain to me the business reasons for doing this? Literally everyone I know who HAD a PS4 Pro pre-ordered (only 3) have since cancelled because they just have no idea what the concrete, confirmed benefits are for specific games both old and new games upcoming. None of them have 4k TV's. Some of them who were on the fence haven't mentioned it in a while so I assume they have no intention of getting one.

Now if a new trailer came out detailing and showing some old games, new games, upcoming titles, and showing the benefits beyond 4k and HDR, that could really get them to jump back in. I just don't understand why this hasn't been done. I know they still have time to do it, but it seems odd to wait so long.

The business reasons = PSVR, I think. It released less than two weeks ago. You generally want the media to focus on your latest and greatest, and perhaps they thought too much focus on the Pro would make consumers confused about the relation between the two.

The embargo will probably expire soon though.

Good point, it's also possible that they didn't want PSVR to seem "coupled" with the PS4 Pro and for consumers to start to think they had to get both, dropping nearly $1,000 dollars.

Probably so Sony can do one big push where they showcase the improvements.

Right now I reckon Sony's marketing is still focused on the PSVR.

Yeah, that'd be my guess. They're probably right to make that move, too.

It's way more important for the future of the platform to have more day 1 sales for PSVR than it is to have significant day 1 PS4 Pro sales.

PS4 Pro will sell itself, eventually, when people start to see and read about the differences between it and the OG PS4. Its future is basically already guaranteed.

...All of this talk of supersampling, at 1080:

Can someone post a visual comparison for how a game looks with and without this supersampling? Same with a VR image, so I can see a visual representation?

I don't get it.
There's no real 1:1 comparison out yet but you can tell a major difference in iq even though the ps4 pro image is from the youtube video and the ps4 screen is a direct capture. Even then the pro image looks much cleaner.

Is there not a 'games journalist' or publication out there asking all the publishers about their stance on updating their released games? This seems like a list that IGN, Eurogamer, or Polygon would have published.

Does anyone know if Titanfall 2 will support HDR at launch? That way, those of us with an HDR TV can see benefits prior to the launch of the Pro.

I've got a 4k TV so I may trade in my ps4 for a pro. Was just wondering would it look better to play in 4K or make it 1080 with enhancements?

If the game supports 4K (or higher resolution with checkerboarding) I imagine that would make more sense. 1080p with enhanced effects will still be a 1080p buffer and will show a lot more aliasing on your 4K display.

From what we know, games which support higher resolution and also 1080p enhancements default to higher resolutions.

Lawd, just a little over 2 weeks away now. Love that it's releasing the day before a 3 day weekend here in the states. Just gotta decide what game I want to play first (after dark souls 3 dlc). Think I'm gonna go for Tomb Raider. Sounds like that thing is gonna run and look great on the Pro.

Honestly, that lineup could scarcely be any less compelling.

I want to want this thing, Sony, but you've got to work with me here.

We've had a thread on this in the past but the OP has since been banned: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1275697

I'd have bought rise of the tombraider already, but its already come down in price and I think it'll go cheaper on black friday. If I can get IW/COD 4 for a decent price I'll be all over that as well.

For some reason I assumed all of these games would have HDR, why did I get my hopes up :(

Unless they just include HDR when they say "enhancements"

Could we also please keep track of enhancements for regular PS4s, seen as though they're HDR ready as well

I've been holding off playing UC4 until we hear if its getting a HDR patch for regular PS4s

I've been looking for more information on this too. Just bought a 4K HDR capable TV, so upgrading from PS4 to PS4 Pro isn't in the budget right now.

Glad I preordered it. Cant wait to see the difference in Mankind Divided, have been taking my time with that one. Plus all the VR stuff.
That way I'm not gonna miss out on playing XV the best way either.

BF1 patch would be great. Might hold off on buying until then.

Sucks about Destiny. Bungie probably doesn't want to agitate the masses with such luxuries.

Would really like to have a thread or something dedicated to enhancements on 1080 TVs but I guess we'll have to wait on that :(

There have been discussions on that, and there is some information out there on what a small amount of specific games will offer. But in terms of what the PS4 Pro will offer in equivalence to what 4K(HDR) seems to be on the 4K tv's side of things, nothing is really crystal clear. That is to say, 4K checkboarded seems to be the bare minimum of effort that's required of developers, but it doesn't seem to be clear that the same goes for downsampling.
