How much longer are people going to put up with this shit? We allow some the of the dumbest, least skilled, most aggressive of our society to run roughshod over us. We even give them guns and permission to use them. Why?

I hope sooner rather than later kids in this type of situation realize that if they group together to fight that piece of shit "cop" off they would win 100 times out of 100.

Those kids can't do that, the cop would pull his weapon and start firing. Even if they used a peaceful means of simply protecting the girl they would still kick everyones ass for challenging them.

Out of curiousity-why are an infinite number of police brutality stories deemed safe for threds -but this story was immediately closed down in two separate threads:

Family Beats Brothers Two Force Sin Confessions Out of Them

Please don't create threads about news stories whose sole point is to horrify and appall people. This applies equally to stories about horrible events and to random, petty local tragedies of no greater significance. It makes people's experience of our community worse if they have to tiptoe in between threads about mundane atrocities just to participate in the OT. Real news stories of cultural import are fine, even when they're about something horrific happening, but if the right response to a story is mostly just "wow that's awful" it probably shouldn't get a thread.

Why is brutality inflicted by a religious group too upsetting, but brutality inflicted by police not?

That said-I'm from South Carolina, and this doesn't surprise me. Macho assholes.

Seeing a cop doing this in a school I went too would be like Jason Voorhees doing the same thing. People would not be just sitting back they would be freaking, most would be getting the fuck out of there, some would be trying to fight.

that's easy to say on the internet. If you were in a school and a student started to talk shit to the teacher, I guarantee people would just sit in silence and watch too.

if you look closely he is trying to pull her out of her seat, but she is bolded and refuses to. Don't be absurd, you don't tase until necessary. It's very difficult to deal with teenagers who remains passive aggressive towards you.

again the absurdity of these comments. Do we know what happened here previously? maybe he asked her five times to come with him and she refused. Do you just carry on? "okay fine, just sit there I'll wait." That's not how it works. School is an institution, not a psych office. They have a right to make you leave the classroom, especially if you behave wrongfully. They're not going to sit there and talk you out of the room.

She was sitting there, and none of the other students nor the teacher were in danger. The coupe had a foot and a hundred pounds on her

Sure a student, that is completely normal, you don't expect a cop to walk into a school and act like a psychopath. If I saw a cop do that I would think this guy is completely insane. It would be a big enough shock to trigger the old flight or fight response and when that shit goes it anyone guess what people are going to do. These look like high school kids, it would be mayhem to see that happen. It would not be just same old shit we see everyday no big deal.

she was, but it was also implied that she disturbed the class. If she is not willingly leaving the room by the goodwill of the teacher, then the campus officer has to deal with it. In many cases, by dragging said student out.

Not surprising at all. Until we all do something this will remain acceptable behavior by the authorities we pay for that are supposed to serve and protect us.

What the fuck is wrong with American cops. That girl can't have been older than 17. You don't treat a kid like that.

I'm sorry, but that's a horrible idea. If they tried something like that against an American cop, he would probably start shooting people left and right.

Yeah I think this is more on the "God our police policies are so fucked up" spectrum than the "God our police are so fucking racist" spectrum. Then again, why not both? This officer is clearly an overachiever, on the fast track to become captain some day.
Oh yeah definitely.

The cops 100% in the right. I have no idea why you guys think she should have been able to just sit there and ignore a lawful order. If you don't comply then this is what will happen and you deserve it. Wasn't even excessive, he pulled her out of the chair and arrested her. nothing more.

This is sarcasm right.

No.

In what world do you live in where you can just not be arrested or detained by not complying? If you're in a car and refuse to get out you'll get pulled out. same thing here. She was asked to come peacefully and refused, what other option is there? Ask again and hope she changed her mind?

People are ok with cops going from 0 to 1000 with no provocation?

I don't know how you can tell there was no provocation from a 15 second video. What the cop did was excessive and not graceful, but that situation was created by the girl. Did she think they brought a cop into the classroom to ask nicely for her to leave? If she was my daughter I wouldn't have minded what he did, unless she had a mental disorder where she didn't realize what was happening fully.

That...

That's not the issue here....

Thats exactly the issue here. He told her to come peacefully, she didnt. You can hear it in the video. He then removed her from the chair and arrested her. Thats how this is supposed to go.

What issue do you have?

If a cop were to unload into a group of unarmed teenagers then this country is even worse off than this video would lead you to believe and that's fucking frightening.

edit: and no cops on campus should ever be allowed to carry a weapon other than perhaps mace/pepper spray. Only people carrying weapons in that situation should be the actual police.

Am I missing out on a joke here or something.

Wow, I've seen some sheep in my day but your on a whole other level.

Why not drag her away in a fashion that doesn't involve the danger of seriously injuring her?

What about the classic police arm lock?

Soooo if you're just minding your own business and a cop tries to arrest you, you simply comply?

Also, she did absolutely nothing to constitute such violent manhandling.

As a black man. It's this line of thought that scares the fuck out of me because you share the same sentiment many Americans do.

Well if they are trying to scare us it sure as hell is working on me. Im extra careful with the shit i say at cops nowadays.

The force is not at all proportional to the situation. She isn't being violent back to him.

"She is no angel"

People get shot, choked to death, neck broken, and plungers up their ass because they don't listen.

The onus is on you, citizen, to make sure your protectors are doing their jobs properly. Any violence that comes to you as a result of "resisting" is your fault. Being manhandled by a powerlifting bodybuilder who has multiple issues including pending lawsuits is irrelevant.

Land of the Free.

Also, she did absolutely nothing to constitute such violent manhandling.
What 'violent manhandling'?

And she refused to comply, thats how this happens. Did you think you had the option when being arrested to just sit somewhere and refuse to comply and nothing would ever happen to you?

I can tell you that slinging a girl around is not the way. That shit doesn't warrant being tossed around like some doll.

You would be a shitty father for that, too.
